The hotel is heritage listed and I did enjoy staying there for two days.
Very friendly staff specifically Mr. Bala.
The room was big and very clean. The pool was nice and tidy.
The only problem I faced was the hot water which was not hot but since I was in hurry I did not have time to mention it to the room service to fix it. However, on my check-out time, I mentioned it and they said sorry.

Breakfast is very complete and you'll get pretty much whatever you want. The staff was helpful and nice. The location was fairly good. If you want a drink, you'll have to walk a little bit to Chulia street where the bars are, but it's about a 10-15 minute walk.

Safe and vibrant town with lots of street art and good food.
Safe and vibrant town with lots of street art and good food. Also much more pedestrian friendly than a lot of other cities in Malaysia, and Rapid Penang system is quite reliable (as long as you have loose cash on you). Some nice beaches to have a picnic, watch the sunset or tan on, but just wish the water wasn't polluted and filled with jellyfish so people can swim safely. I went on a walking tour to see the street art, explored Little India, went skateboarding at Gurney Bay and stopped by a beach bar - overall a great place with friendly locals and very cheap food if you go to the right places.

The seaside places are far away from the city.
The seaside places are far away from the city. However, the city has its own great attractions, the UNESCO heritage areas are charming. The island is rustic and great for walks and cafes for coffee and meals. Going up Penang Hill and the KLS temple is fun too. Grab taxi is readily available to get you around.

We are not young.
The hotel was modern with nice interiors, the staff were pleasant. The room was a good size, clean, good bathroom amenities. Drinking water station was located just near to the lifts. The hotel is well located, 5 mins from a supermarket and the bus stop and within walking distance to downtown George Town and tourist spots within downtown.
The hotel was in a good location a short walk from George Town, and lots of restaurants and bars, as well as super close to both the ferry terminal and bus terminal.
Nice clean room, comfy bed, decent shower.
Enjoyed the rooftop bar
The location was excellent and enabled you to stay in the heart of George Town. Being able to walk to local restaurants and bars a bonus. The hotel is a most sympathetic conversion of former shops and gave one a feel of the past.
Bill was extremely helpful in terms of check-in as well as providing recommendations for things to do in George Town. The Hotel building itself was very welcoming and artistic. The room was nice and clean.
