Located in Sepilok, 15 miles from Sandakan, Sepilok B&B has a restaurant and free WiFi. The location is very near to the REC and there’re a lot of birds and monkeys in the yard, which I loved. The pancakes were really good! And I was a little surprised to find out that I was the only one staying there for the day and they set up the regular breakfast buffet for me! And there’s a lovely cat too^_^
Sepilok Forest Edge Resort is a nature retreat in Sandakan, a 15-minute walk from the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Center. Beautiful location at the edge of a forest and 10min walking distance to the Orangutan centre and Sunbear conservation centre. The food in the restaurant is just delicious and also vegetarian-friendly we would recommend the veggie burger, charcoal pizza and green papaya salad. The staff was just so friendly, easygoing and helpful. After a long travel to reach Sandakan, this was our sanctuary where we could recharge our batteries to continue on the Kinabatangan river trip. Next time we would stay a few more days just to enjoy the serenity of this place.
Just 5 minutes’ walk from the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary, Sepilok Jungle Resort is located within a tropical rainforest in Sandakan, Sabah. It features a restaurant. Lovely location, staff and room. They were all very helpful and helped me by providing laundry service, and a shuttle to the Sandakan Bus terminal at 6.30 am so I could catch my bus. Lovely food at the banana cafe. The environment itself is beautiful, and the Orangutan and sun bear sanctuaries are a 5 min walk. The RDC (Rainforest discovery Centre) is a 25 min walk away. I really enjoyed my stay.
Located amid abundant greenery, Sepilok Nature Resort is a haven for nature lovers. It has a restaurant, and offers complimentary WiFi access in its public areas. A 24-hour front desk is available. The fact that a wild orangutan can surprise you just outside your bedroom door! It is every nature lover’s paradise. The orangutan & sun bear sanctuary we’re a one minute walk away, which was great. The staff was willing to work with us as our flight was cancelled & we couldn’t check in on the set date. Just an overall amazing experience.
Orangutan-We did the morning feeding time and went to the nursery. Fabulous Sun Bears- we saw about 6 Sun Bears. Climbing trees, playing. A must Discovery Center- saw a few birds. Good place to go if you arrive in the afternoon.
I enjoyed both the Sun bear and Orangutan sanctuary. In particular found the rangers at the BSBCC to be very informative. The cafe has a good range of food at cheap pricing and has air conditioning!
Tranquil place and some amazing volunteer work going on in the various centres. Go early to the orangutan centre. We arrived at 9am and visited the Nursery before viewing the feeding platform. Did see one orangutan in the trees, but none of them came to feed at 10am. Fruit trees in abundance right now, so sightings are rare. Rainforest Discovery Centre was better than expected, but the cafe wasn't very good, so take your own snacks and drinks. Sepilok was fantastic for children - viewing platforms, information boards in English, and take your own binoculars to ensure perfect viewing ability.
The rainforest discovery centre is really great. I easily spent a whole day there walking around enjoying the forest watching birds and looking out for wildlife. The night walk was one of the best things I did in Sabah. Highly recommend staying in sepilok if you love nature and happy to relax. Sun Bear sanctuary was very inspiring... talk to the founder if you can...an amazing man. And don't forget the beautiful orangutans. Please show them respect and keep your distance. Sometimes watching animals without the camera is a much more memorable experience.
I could spend weeks at the orangutan rehabilitation center and i heard great things about the rainforest discovery center but didnt have time to see it. I would recommend at least 2 full days if not 3.
We enjoyed seeing the orang-utan at the conservation area; also the sunbears and the botanical gardens. A half day trip to see the proboscis monkeys at Labuk Bay was a highlight plus the white chinned monkeys. All the facilities were excellent and a credit to the Sabah government.
Jungle feel ! Fabulous food, staff amazing. Great authentic feel, this is in the middle of nowhere but staff can’t do enough to help you plan your trip, take you to orangutan sanctuary, organise going other trips and take you to airport. Amazing stay, rooms very comfortable, outside bathroom rustic and clean. Food was very cheap and good breakfast in the morning. Can’t recommend enough but you are in the middle of nowhere so you know. Would definitely return.
Great location just 5 mins walk from the Rainforest Discovery Centre and 20 mins walk from Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary. Big spacious room with a double bed and one bunk bed. Bathroom was fine. Staff were pleasant. Pretty setting. Free basic breakfast.
Great location. Very near to RDC, orang utan rehabilitation centre and sun bear conservation centre. Reception and service was very good the staff do their best to meet every need. L
Lush greenary surrounding the resort Close walking distance to sepilok orang utan rehabilation center and borneo sun bear conservation center
