Located in Sukau in the Sabah region, Sukau Greenview Bed & Breakfast has accommodations with free private parking. Guests at the bed and breakfast can enjoy an Asian breakfast. Directly on the river, rooms are basic but what you would expect. Would recommend going for the package, we didn’t and paid separately for each cruise. It did although give us the opportunity to find alternatives for dinner at a place further along the river.
Set atop a 328 foot hill overlooking the Kinabatangan Forest Reserve, The Last Frontier Boutique Resort is located in Bilit, and is located a 2 hour drive from the beautiful Sandakan. The Staff and its Boss, Jason (a Malay Chinese Decendent from great Admiral Cheng He' s expeditions in late Song Dynasty) did the outmost to suit our experience ! We not only arrived late, due to underestimation of driving times compared to distance, but also on a flat tire the last 600 m. We missed the evening boat ride but were compensated by an early morning river excursion free of charge. We got met at the stairs and helped w our lugage (we are a family of 4). Then they fixed our tire. Not only that, my daugther lost her shoes and they managed to deliver them courtesy to Sepilok 120 km away. Food ? Probably the most delicious for a Jungle Lodge i ever experienced ! And i saw more than a few around the world (Africa, Asia, Brasil !). And the explanations given on the Rim Trek in nearly Oxford English. Very in depth and informative. A MUST if possible to get a Space with the "Last Fronter" if you come to Bilit. I added 3 pics of the delicious food. Others can be seen from their web page. Love
Located in Sandakan, Kinabatangan Wildlife Lodge has free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a restaurant and a bar. Some units are air-conditioned and include a seating and/or dining area. Staff was very kind, 10 minutes walk to the river and close to a trail for 30 min hike where you have a great view to the river and you can see sunrise. Make sure you do morning cruise (to see monkeys and birds and crocodiles of you're lucky), afternoon cruise (to see more monkeys) and night cruise cruise (to see countless stars).
Marine Bay Hotel is a 2-star property located in Sandakan. The property has a 24-hour front desk as well as free WiFi throughout the property. the hotel is located very convenient. It’s walking distance to everything you’ll need. the staff is super kind and flexible. It’s very clean.
The Elopura Hotel located on the East Coast of Sabah which also known as “Land below the Wind”. Elopura name itself was the first name of Sandakan when it was found by William B Prier back in 1879. we was surprised when we arrived how unique the hotel is. There’s a movies theme throughout, with movie memorabilia and art. There’s even a cafe area where films are played daily. It’s definitely a hidden gem.
Alonto Hotel has air-conditioned accommodations in Sandakan. Among the facilities at this property are a 24-hour front desk and an ATM, along with free WiFi throughout the property. I like the place and the staff so friendly and easy to negotiate....
It was incredible. We did the morning and eveninv cruise with Masz (they have their own boat). We saw almost everything! Saw an Orangutan and Masz got a tip off about an elephant but it left just before we arrived but we could still hear it moving through the forest, saw loads of every type of monkey and even a large croc on the bank. Loads of birds like Kingfishers and Hornbills. The restaurant is incredible too, and so cheap! Masz even drove the whole hostel to the local market on Friday evening in her truck. Can’t recommend this place enough. Thanks Masz for such a memorable stay.
Nice place for observation of wild nature during river cruise. But you must be patient. We didnt see a huge amount of animals close to us but it was really nice to observe orangutans, proboscis monkeys, hornbills and other endargered species in wild nature. It is fine to have binoculars for river cruise. We didnt have it and we would really appreciate it. Night river cruise was also very interesting. We really admired eagle eyes of our guide who could see birds, snakes, little crocodiles and showed us them from very near distance if it was possible.
