We really enjoyed the pools at the lodge. My kids swam there the whole day, every day of our stay. The rooms were excellent and very functional. We enjoyed the restaurant food as well. Juan is an amazing chef. Staff is always friendly and accommodating. The owner even took us to the airport on our final day. The staff arranged everything we needed including the boat trips to the island. My kids loved bazaruto island and the lunch was amazing. Telvina outperformed our places we visited whilst we were there including other restaurants we ate at. Telling is excellent place to holiday with family.

would like to thank both managers Hisham and Sagar...I had a little loud neighbour so they immediately offered to change my room...rooms are wide --beds and pillows very comfortable..they provide toiletries ..breakfast could be improved a little but was generous..the staff very attentive ready to comply with any request.---I hope I don't forget names..thank you Macane, Ziadym Iracelma Edso Nilton ..Luna at reception with Veronica Paula And Augusto.. the hotel is more oriented to business... its huge..and you access the beach through a door from the garden..Vilanculos does not have uninterrupted long beaches..some places have rocks... and I went in winter so not many passengers... had an excellent stay

An Absolute Gem in Vilankulos: Tranquility, Taste, and Top-Tier Service My stay at Aguia Negra in Vilankulos was, simply put, perfection. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in a wonderfully well-kept and truly tranquil environment. This isn't just a hotel; it's a peaceful retreat where every detail is cared for. The natural setting is a highlight in itself. The gardens are exceptionally well tended, creating a vibrant, colourful oasis that invites relaxation at every turn. Coupled with the great poolside restaurant and bar, the ambiance during the day was second to none. Our accommodation was equally impressive. The rooms are well appointed, spacious, and wonderfully comfortable, providing a true sense of luxury. Waking up each morning to a great view of the ocean was breathtaking, especially watching the spectacular sunrise paint the sky—it’s a memory I won't soon forget. Gastronomy was another area where Aguia Negra truly shone. The dinners and breakfasts were phenomenal. Every dish was full of flavour and, importantly, reasonably priced, meaning we could indulge without hesitation. And of course, all this is located just a stone's throw from an expansive, unbusy, and exquisite ocean front. You couldn’t ask for a better setting to unwind. What truly topped off the entire experience, however, was the exceptionally attentive, professional, and friendly staff. Brian and his team went above and beyond, anticipating our needs and always greeting us with warmth, making us feel genuinely at home and looked after. They are the heart and soul of Aguia Negra. If you are looking for paradise in Vilankulos, this is it.

Everything is perfect. The compound was so romantic and beatiful and very clean - even the palm beach outside the hotel was cleaned every morning. The staff was very helpful and polite - the manager a real precious gem. There is a lovely beach bar close to the hotel - apart from that everything is very quiet. Don't forget to visit Vilanculos village with its busy market and labyrinthian stalls where you can buy all sorts of fresh foodstuffs. Seafood lovers will also appreciate the selection you can buy from the fishermen/women at the beach every morning. My wife and I spend a week at the hotel - but how I wish that I could stay another week.

Vilanculos and the islands in the area is a fantastic place! It is a peaceful place (I was there out of season), and the people are really friendly. You always feel safe, even when walking around in the evenings.

South of the Dona Ana hotel, a large hotel on a peninsular,...

South of the Dona Ana hotel, a large hotel on a peninsular, is a 5km stretch of wondeful beach. White soft sand at high tide, 200 metres of golden sand when the tide is out. Not the best for swimming ut there are some comfortable small pools as the tide goes out. No sunbeds and umbrellas here, just local fishermen going about their business. A couple of small low key nice hotels offering beach front accommodaion and food. North of the Dona Ana the beach is less tidal, several larger more modern hotels with very nice restaurants. but the beach is not as pretty with seaweed sometimes and broken shells meaning walk with sandals not barefoot.

Typical of Mozambique.

Typical of Mozambique. It's a poor area so if you are prepared for rural surrounds you will not be disappointed. Locals are friendly and the lodge took us shopping for provisions as and when we needed it. Great place to relax. Super diving, snokelling, fishing and swimming. Very close to the islands.

Definitely recommend. It's a beautiful place. Vilanculos is very laid back, natural and authentic. The beaches are amazing, delicious local food and some great outdoor activities to do. Visiting the islands like Bazaruto is highly recommended. These areas are truly pristine and the snorkeling along two mile reef is awesome. I would say more or less 6 days is enough time in the area. We went in September (not in season) and sometimes it would just be us on the beach with one or two other people.

Access to a number of beach resorts and restaurants, with day trips to the islands and coral reef make this a must- see. The town itself has a large upmarket supermarket with exceptional selection, loads of smaller shops selling a wide range of goods, locally crafted items, banks, atm etc

I would suggest you bring SA Rand (a lot of it) and exchange...

I would suggest you bring SA Rand (a lot of it) and exchange it as you go at the shops as most card machines and ATM’s do not work then you can get stuck without cash unless you stay at Ocean Pearl Beach Lodge. They always helped us get cash when it seemed impossible
