we loved this hostel. The owners are exceptionally helpful and friendly. when we showed up early they allowed us to check in straight away as the room was ready. we went on excursions organised via them and took the scooter via them both of which were excellent. there general atmosphere is great. there is a large communal area and good facility for cooking and meeting new people. the location was close to town and other facilities. we loved our stay here thanks.

We loved the rustic feeling of the cabaña, which was airy with probably one of the most comfortable beds we had on our trip. The kitchen is simple but has everything you need to feel at home and be able to cook if you wish. There are places nearby to buy supplies if you do want to cook for yourself. And a comedor just across the road. The owners are lovely and very open to making suggestions. The garden is open and relaxing. There were kids and chickens nearby and not at all an issue for us. We walked a lot to see the lake and a nearby chocolate factory.

The location is fantastic, right on the shore of the lake and at the same time just a minute walk from the main road and restaurants in Balgue. The owner is very kind and knowledgeable too. There is a functional kitchen, two hammocks, chairs for the shore, candles for the night, and kitchenware too. Really has everything you need.

We loved the relaxed vibe and how everything is set up and decorated, it's really really beautiful and we enjoyed just sitting around on our porch immensely! the location is great as it's away from the crazy hostel stuff but not too far with tons of great local places near by. Getting to all parts of the island from Balgue was ideal as well and everywhere you turn you see one of the volcanoes since you're right in between them. If you turn right from the place you get back into the main hostel area in a few minutes (on bike) and if you turn left you find really beautiful roadways and scenery and you can get away from all the "traveler" stuff. Cafe compestre is just down the street (2 min walking) where you can get a really really good cappuccino. My boyfriend also got a haircut across the street haha. The food they made us was so so so good (our favorite if we HAD to pick was probably the burritos, and they make some of the best smoothies on the island). we were also able to get our moto bike and kayaking through the family as well, and everything was a really good price and easy. On day 4 or so we found a hole in the tire which they fixed in just a couple hours and they didn't charge us which we really appreciated. There was a power outage one evening (it happens on the island from time to time) and they set us up with a candlelit dinner and we just loved that (picture below). The family who owns this are truly wonderful people and we felt really at home, possibly too at home as we were supposed to stay 5 nights and we stayed 9 or 10 😂. I usually got up early and worked a few hours in the balcony seating area with a coffee or smoothie, so can confirm working here is also no problem. For context, I was working fully online building a webpage with large files so internet needed to be really functioning well, and it was :)

The location is absolutely beautiful. In the middle of the jungle, in a treehouse is an amazing experience. The bed is comfortable and although it rained quite a bit overnight, none of our stuff got wet. Megan and the team were amazing, taught us all about the fruit that grew on the property and how to eat it.

The atmosphere was exceptional. The stuff was great and very helpful. The location is perfect. There are many options for restaurants. No matter where you're on this island, you need a scooter to get to the beach & sightseeing. But Lazy Crab has a good distance to the most attractions. They have a kitchen with room for your own purchase. The breakfast is really good too and they have free coffee for breakfast.

This little Mecca of a hippy village is a must stay for anyone that vibes with eco/alternative culture. I think this is one of the coolest hostels I’ve stayed in. I kept extending my stay because I LOVED the island and I LOVED this place. Tons of delicious vegan food, including vegan pizza on pizza nights. Comfy beds with mosquito nets. There was even a vegan dinner one night with the best vegan food I had in the two months I traveled Latin America (and are only vegan food). The yoga was awesome. They teach a lot on their eco tour, so sign up. This place is a staple of the list of best hostels in Latin America.

A lovely little town on Ometepe Island.

A lovely little town on Ometepe Island. The locals were so nice and kind. I enjoyed riding around and just taking in all of the beautiful nature. Playa Mangoes was also a short drive from my hostel. I look forward to returning one day.

Very small place but with everything we needed.

Very small place but with everything we needed. We rented a scooter from Guti Motor Rentals. They were good would use them again. Cafe Campestre has fabulous food. We went everyday. As a days activity we walked up to Finca Magdalena and from there you pay a small fee and can visit the petroglyphs. On the way back there is a nice pool to swim in (small fee) On the other day we took our scooter out to Charco Verde Reserve. Would recommend. There’s a lovely walk and beach for a swim

There were several places to eat, one of which, Cafe...

There were several places to eat, one of which, Cafe Campestre, had Indian meals, hand-made pasta, and other selections. The only bad thing was dogs roaming through the restaurant looking for food. This is the only restaurant I ate at, and is probably by far the best place in town to eat. Didn't see any Nicas eating there. Probably kind of expensive for them.

Lots of great restaurants in the area.

Lots of great restaurants in the area. Make sure you have a way to move around, whether you rent a car or a motorcycle, it's very important you do. Eating at El Pital was amazing. There are three other restaurants I thoroughly enjoyed too: Bustavo Food Bus (which is right beside El Pital), Cafe Campestre, and Playa Mango.

The hotel is at a starting point to climb up the Maderas...

The hotel is at a starting point to climb up the Maderas volcano. My room had an amazing view of the Concepcion volcano. Although there is no kitchen, they provide delivery options . The pizza was wonderful!!!
