An absolutely wonderful experience. A gorgeous facility surrounded by nature. Very relaxing stay.
The room was huge and the bed comfy. We felt really pampered.
The place is full of art pieces, that I really appreciated.
Also there are 2 restaurants on the facility, one is a high end restaurant perfect for a special dinner, the other is the cutest place for lunch or coffee.

One of the worst hotels I have stayed in my entire life
The sound insulation is very weak, and throughout the night I hear the sounds of walking inside the hotel, the sound of dogs barking outside, and the sound of the train that passes by the hotel every 15 minutes.
The staff at the reception are the ones who clean the bathrooms and prepare the food. He comes out of the bathroom to serve the food. This is disgusting.🤢
The employees are strangely stupid. It seems that the owner does not pay well to bring in qualified people
There are no good things for breakfast, except that the cleanliness of the workers is disgusting
The rooms are very small and smaller than what is written on the booking website, dirty and smell very bad😷
I canceled the rest of the period and left the site early, and I do not want to return to it at all, and I advise against booking it because it does not deserve any euro paid for it.

A small pocket of land that includes Valkenburg in the southern Limburg province of the Netherlands contradicts the flat landscape we usually associate with The Lowlands of Holland. This former fortified city includes historic Valkenburg Castle ruins and the hilly terrain is terrific for mountain biking and nature walks.
The neo-Gothic train station is the oldest existing of any in the Netherlands and links Maastricht with the German city of Aachen. The city’s appeal is magnified during the annual Valkenburg Christmas Market held in the manmade Velvet Cave, a disused marlstone mine used for making local buildings.
Nearby is the 3-country point where The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany come together, and on the Dutch side there is a plaque marking the location of the highest point in Holland. Many other castles such as Schaloen and Geulzicht make interesting day trips into the Geul Valley countryside.
Let Booking.com help you make the perfect hotel choice in the 'Dutch Alps'. Spa and relaxation hotels are plentiful in and around Valkenburg or there are various family choices or romantic escapes amongst nature.

Valkenburg is a lovely location with excellent restaurants and bars to sit and watch the world go bye . Take a 10 min train to Mastrict or Aachen and enjoy the sceand culture of both . All in all a great location to be based to enjoy a European weekend away

Such a pretty historic town.
Such a pretty historic town. I was only there one evening and when I walked the old town in the morning before leaving I was so sorry I wasn’t there all day to see the castle and eat at one of the many restaurants.

Sightseeing (castles and historical industries such as mining)
Walking - many way-marked routes leading from town.
Food - Surprisingly long pedestrianised street where restaurants and bars are centred along.
Sport - Cycling One Day Classics and Grand Tours all use this town as a focal point.
Location - Near to so many other places, this town is a great base for further exploring.

We went to Valkenburg for the Cave Christmas Markets.
We went to Valkenburg for the Cave Christmas Markets. We went to see the one managed by the municipality(Kerkst Markt) and it was worth the trip. The caves were beautifully lit, with plenty of variety of stalls. The staff managing the crowd was polite, helpful and very aware about everything. Also, they had charitable event running in a very quaint way.
Besides the Christmas market we explored the market area in the city which was again beautifully decorated. The main market is surrounded by mountains and canals so its pleasant to just walk around in the town.
Overall the city has a small town vibe which can be refreshing if you are looking for a getaway from the city life.
