Everything. The room is clean well designed looks nice no complain. But the view. It is THE best view in all of Flam. I can safely say it since it is literally in the end of the fjord and the windows look into it. Restaurant has the same view. For this price you won’t find better. The breakfast is also good and they were saying sadly they can’t accomodate my vegan girlfriend too well because they only have veges and potato. We found there pancakes, waffles, beans, oatmilk, salades etc. All in all she got pretty full in the end. The staff is super nice and helpful. I recommend it so much..

We couldn't fault our stay at Svingen Guesthouse. The house was gorgeous and beautifully decorated. Kitchen facilities were great and all facilities were perfectly clean. Rooms were great too. Location was excellent and one of the best in Flåm, in our opinion. It made our stay in Flåm so relaxing. Special mention to Joe for making us feel so welcome - we loved your company! Thanks for everything.

Provided delicious meals, exceeded our expectations. Friendly staff; Comfortable public areas. Good location, near to train station and with beautiful view. Overall, although the price is higher than the hotel I usually stay in, it is still acceptable because here is Flåm :)

Flåm is astonishing beautiful but it is a tourist trap with its mall of folish souvenirs and food stands that has nothing to do with Norway. It is as you fool the gem of Flåm and Norway. The Brekke Hostel is terrible and so unworthy Norway, Scandinavia, Flåm and the guests that book it. It does not have the minimum standard of even a small hostel in an underdeveloped country. It is a shame for the region. I hope the tourist authorities in the commun of Flåm closes it and sees that it will be totally redone and changed every corner of this place. The red barn with its rooms and stairs and 1 toilet on the entire premis is so beyond every rule in Norwegian tourism standard that you can think of. The big room on the 3:rd floor with dangerous staircase should be forbidden at once. Cherish what you have in Flåm and don’t destroy it the way you do now.

We visited at the change of the season (Winter to Spring),...

We visited at the change of the season (Winter to Spring), but found it a small place with some excellent tourist attractions (Flam train) and activities (Fjord sauna, Fjord cruises). Only stayed for a night but could have lingered especially a little later into Spring.

Flam is a beautiful little spot.

Flam is a beautiful little spot. Went in April but lucked out with the weather and had sun with mild temperatures- great for hikes up to the center town viewpoint or Brekkefossen waterfall. I can imagine during summer it is more touristy. Prices like most in Norway are more expensive to what we are used to but that’s general for Norway. Food stands, bakery, souvenir shops are easily accessible. I highly recommend visiting the bakery at least once! A favourite was Stegastein viewpoint - a 30 min bus tour. Tours are easily booked at the visitor centre or online and lots of different options from Fjord boat tours to Stegastein viewpoint or Viking Village or stay local for hikes and floating sauna visits. If you are in Norway and heading into the area - Flam is definitely worth a visit either via Flam railway (highly recommend) or a hike or bike in. The views alone are incredible.

We did the winter fjord safari which was excellent!

We did the winter fjord safari which was excellent! We also walked up to the bekkefossen waterfall that was frozen and stunning viewpoint. Heard good things about snow shoe tour so sad we ran out of time for that! I reckon 3 days (2 nights) would have been about right (we had 2 days / 1 night)

Wonderful place.

Wonderful place. We visited in early December so very quiet and peaceful. Spectacular views It snowed which made it even more magical. The people are so friendly and the food delicious. Loved the feel of being surrounded by mountains looking out across the fjord.

A quiet village nestled at the head of a beautiful fiord...

A quiet village nestled at the head of a beautiful fiord with towering mountains all around. Excellent facilities including a bakery, grocery store, Mall of Norway and several restaurants, plus fast food outlets. Mini cruises available to nearby attractions, kayaks for hire and lakeside saunas. The most notable attraction is the world famous Flam Railway which climbs to almost 3000 feet a.s.l. up to Myrdal, where it connects to the Oslo to Bergen line.

Prime location…cross the bridge & you’ll be @the train station, Coop grocery & souvenir stores. Place is basic with no frills. Would like if they provided shampoo & shower gel but that’s ok. It’s a hostel. Can’t expect amenities like a 3 or 5 star hotel. Kitchen’s well equipped. We prepared our own meals. There are bins in the fridge for each room so there’s no mix up of groceries. Highly recommend this place. Rates are reasonable!

What a location! We only wished we'd stayed at least another night. Don't be concerned that it's a short walk from the station - it's easy, flat along the boardwalk - 5 minutes with luggage even in mid-winter with snow and ice. The location and room is well worth it. We ate dinner and breakfast there and both meals were very good. The staff and managers were great too, thank you. One of the highlights of out 3 week Norway trip.

Staff very helpful; came to clean room when I said it was dirty. Easy to find along the riverside. Near the shops, only 13 minute straightforward walk. Away from the millions of tourists. Genuine Norway in Flam! Reasonable kitchen and facilities.
