Hotel in Gaustablikk
Located 112 mi from Oslo, 273 mi from Gothenburg, in the heart of Telemark you will find Gausta at 3281 ft altitude above Rjukan and Vestfjorddalen. The breakfast was amazing, lots of variety and options. It was very convenient to do a hike, many options but we did Skipsfjellrundt (about 2 hours) and you leave walking from the hotel and hike up to a great view of the city of Rjukan. We drove here directly from the airport and it was a bit longer than we thought (3hrs 45 min due to traffic, got in at 4pm) but a great stopping point. The hotel did offer paddle boarding which we did not partake in but looked like a fun option. This hotel was definitely the most "hotel" feel of all the ones we stayed at in Norway compared to the U.S. (we stayed at 5 in our trip) with a nice lobby area to lounge in and lots of space. The view from our room was amazing with the mountain and lake.

I am ecstatic to have stayed in this location! It is a ski resort, with very modern facilities. We were only staying for a night and arrived late due to travel constraints, and it was a hassle-free check-in and were given a free upgrade! The bathroom has floor heating and it was an extremely comfy shower and toilet. All amenities were present in the room and the guest kitchen which we used for making our breakfast the next day. We had an excellent view of Gaustatoppen from our room with a balcony! Mesmerized by the stay and nature, we are sure to return here.

Great place for a long weekend, sadly this time the snow conditions were a bit poor, with very little snow and very windy. They should consider increasing the number of "elbil" charging stations across the location, given the increase of the "elbil" car park in Norway.
Location is great. It was a little quite in the town. We preferred that. Lot of nice walks around. It is a bit of a browsing work to find out start location and trail maps. I had done the preparation and that helped. Information in English is not readily available. Many trails are well marked and that helps. Location is absolutely stunning for walking and hiking.
It seemed that a lot of money has been invested in relatively unimportant things such as mobile food stalls and not enough in actually keeping lifts running when it gets a little windy. There is no refund when the weather closes lifts and runs which you can understand but it didn’t seem like there was that much effort to get things open it seemed like as soon as there was a wind lifts were closed and the t bars that did remain running were run at a glacial pace so huge cues formed. I’ve sat on chair lifts in the alps that run in much higher winds. It’s health and safety gone mad.
Excellent location with great access to the mountains. The Slopes were-practically empty. Friendly staff at hotel and ski centre Lots of snow so 4x4 advisable but snow tyres will get you up and down the mountain road. Very friendly staff also at gaustabanen (railway inside Gaustatoppen) This majestic mountain over looks gaustablikk. A must on a good day for the views at the top and a unique experience to get there. Skiing down is magical and the main route is well marked.
