Found next to Hardangervidda mountain plateau and only 2 km from Geilo Train Station, this ski-in ski-out hotel offers lodge-style guest rooms, free Wi-Fi and comprehensive spa and fitness facilities.... We loved the location in the beautiful Norwegian moundtIna. the hotel is absolutely fantastic-clean, modern with exquisit art and excellent food.. It has EVERYTHING a family with kids can ask for: outdoors and indoors! pump tracks, hiking, biking, zipline, climbing and beach…. Indoors is not less impressive: pool, bowling, spectacular indoor playground and spa… I have been traveling for many years and I have not yet been to a place where all of the food/drinks were fabulous. And the staff: excellent, excellent, excellent. Friendly, kind and available. We would come back in a health eat. Thanks so much!

This hotel is 10 minutes’ walk from Geilo Train Station. It offers a gym, sauna and pool. Original Edvard Munch prints and Hardanger Mountain views are featured in the restaurant or café. Staff were excellent. I had a medical emergency on my last night and they were incredibly helpful and went over and beyond expectations to make sure I was alright. (I have visited many hotels in my time and this is the only review I have ever completed as I feel the staff deserve recognition. i do not remember names but the staff that helped me was a man and a woman both possibly in their 20s, I think the man said he was from Denmark. If anyone from the hotel reads this please pass on my thanks) Also, the food from the bakery and restaurant was amazing!

Located 850 metres above sea level, Lia Fjellhotell overlooks the Hardangervidda Mountain. It offers free Wi-Fi, private parking and access to excellent skiing. Central Geilo is 14 km away. Large room with sleeping area and lounge area. Balcony with great view over the mountains. Fridge with inbuilt safe in room. Comfortable beds. Large bathroom. Usual Norwegian wooden cabin furniture. Very pleasant owners and staff who did all they could to accommodate our milk allergies. Everything you could wish for at the breakfast buffet and evening meal was a set meal with soup (this was swapped for another dish for us), salmon, potato and carrots and cheese cake (swapped for sorbet with fruit and berries for us) Free coffee and tea next to the piano in the dining room.

These stylish apartments are situated by the ski slopes of the Hallingdal Valley in Geilo. They offer a flat-screen TV, heated oak floors and modern interiors. Parking is free on site. We Got really nice place with a great wiew we had 2 dog and everything was perfect.
Geilo was a great location for the particular activities we planned. There are shops in the event you left an important piece of equipment or clothing at home. Other than that, there is one public laundry facility located at a camp site....LONG LINES OF CLOTHES .....would take 5 hours to eventually wash your own clothes.
Geilo has everything you may ever need for a nice ski vacation. I mean everything. And if you enjoy snowkiting, you are also not far away frpom Hardangervidda where you can kite both day and night!!!
Large, well equipped comfy 3 bedroom cabin in the woods a short walk from the ski lifts in Vestlia. Very quiet and peaceful location but only a few minutes drive from the town centre. Well signposted, easy to find and super easy to check-in picking the keys up from a lock box via a link sent to your phone. Vestlia ski resort is a hidden gem, perfect for intermediates and beginners, lovely pistes and no lift queues. Loved our stay there and would recommend to anyone looking to stay in this beautiful country.
Off-season Geilo is like a ghost town. I visited in early September - summer is over, winter has not come yet. It's a plus when you're on hike, no crowds, no noise, no waiting for toilet in monuntain lodges. But it's nearly spooky when you're out dining. September in Geilo is for those who enjoy outdoors and shorter or longer hikes but at the same time don't fancy carrying a huge backpack from cabin to cabin. From Geilo you can go some loop tours, different difficulty levels and still enjoy hot shower, hotel bed and good breakfast.
The people were very friendly and helpful, starting with the owner of the accommodation, the ski patrol, the staff of the medical centre and the bus drivers. Geilo is a wonderful place for skiing, with a wide variety of slopes and opportunities. We've been there twice and enjoyed it both times. Given that high winds meant that parts of the ski resorts needed to be closed, it would have been helpful if information about which lifts were open was easily available. For example, one of the lifts at Slaatta has a board with the lifts that are open, which is very helpful. If such information were more widely shared, hat would be great. It was an enjoyable stay at Geilo.
every ski resort can be good when the weather is kind. The really good ones make things work then conditions aren’t so good. Unfortunately the combination of relatively old and simple lifts , a vulnerability to westerly winds and staff who don’t proactively fight to get the very best out of the mountain , means this place is best avoided if the weather is in any way questionable. The problem as I see it is a lack of out of hours “prepping” and planning to get things as best as possible for the next day. A sort of lazyness. And “oh well” attitude. Lifts don’t start spinning for morning tests until 30minutes before customers arrive !!!! Also, there is a complete lack of “half mountain” loft options. This further compounds the vulnerability to wind because ALL the main lifts are bottom to top options. Of course it’s often windy at the top! But when you have no half mountain lifts it means the WHOLE mountain or the majority of the best lifts get shut too easily and then huge swathes of the real estate is off limits. Trysil, Hafjell, Hemsedal and many others all have mid station lifts so when there’s a storm guests can still hit large parts of the mountain. Geilo need to invest in some half mountain drags !!! I’m sure the place is amazing on a good day. But what I experienced is a less than proactive resort when the weather gets tougher.
Ski-in, Ski-out was hugely beneficial. Underground parking. Large 4-bedroom apartment with great dining room, living room, & fireplace. In-apartment dry sauna was enjoyed by us. The 3 bathrooms were helpful. Grocery stores in Geilo were excellent for bringing food back to the apartment. Hotel staff were all super helpful. Dishwasher was convenient.
Excellent location in the centre. A 5 min or less drive to all of the major ski lifts. The ski bus stop is just 3 mins walk if you don't have a car. Several good restaurants within walking distance and 2 fantastic restaurants in the hotel itself that I would highly recommend.. The pool and kid playroom were a big hit with my 2 year old daughter.
Lovely location, comfortable modern and clean apartment. Unfortunately we were there when Norway went into coronavirus shutdown. Staff were wonderful providing non buffet breakfast to reduce risks. Provided information updates. When they were forced into closing we got taken to train station to catch the last train out. We will return next year
Geilo
A warm and roomy apartment with a great view, not to far from town centre with shops, cafes and the railway station. Hiking trails and the fjord, as well as the Fekjo park and Geilojordet museum not too far away. Perfect for a little getaway.
Cottage was super clean and modern when you are comparing with other cottages in Norway . I have been to many and I think it s one of the best coattages for this price I have been to. Stuff friendly and helpful :) !
