Nice hotel and spa resort, perfect for those who want nature and a quiet atmosphere. The spa has separate zones for men and women, with both sauna and steam room. The swimming pool is quite cool (around 20°C), which is refreshing after a sauna. There’s also a relaxation area and a jacuzzi. We visited during the low season, so it felt very private and peaceful. Breakfast is Norwegian-style, with a variety of toppings (pålegg), scrambled eggs, fried eggs with bacon, red bean soup, sausages, vegetables, yogurt, and fruit. Good outdoor, playground and tennis court, but we didn’t try coz bad weather.

The Vestlia resort has exceeded our expectations. It has an excellent location just next to the Geilo main ski slopes, that offer great opportunity to ski directly from the hotel. The hotel itself is really great, the interior brings you back in 80s and 90s and have a charm of fused modern style with the antique. The staff was amazingly friendly! For family with the kids, you have so many activities to do (swimming pool, bowling, activity room, cinema) which make your stay so much fun. The restaurant was also nice and breakfast was great. We had such a great holiday! Manythanks!

First of all the location is perfect for nature exploration, skiing or enjoying some quite time with family or friends. The cabin (only couple of meters from river) was modern and bright with huge windows, excellent views, spacious and completed with everything we needed. Groceries shops around 5 min walk. And because we arrived and left during holiday time we appreciated cabin key collection/drop from safe. We and our kids in their 18s lowed everything about the cabin and surroundings.

the amount of amenities here is truly a lot to process, from 2 spas, arcade, climbing wall, few bars, many restaurants, the one spa is stunning outside, ski slopes, hiking trails lake animals ? i mean the list goes on the nicest staff, everyone is so friendly and actually cares intelligent staff, which is hard to find

I dont typically like capital cities and have a difficult...

I dont typically like capital cities and have a difficult time appreciating modern or abstract art which are all things Oslo is known for. I still had a great time exploring the city. We had some pretty beautiful sunsets from the Opera House roof and a rooftop bar. The Akerhaus fortress was really cool and the Folk Museum was a ton of fun- both could easily take a whole day to explore. It was very accessible and easy to get around on public transport (both bus and train). We enjoyed all of our meals here. It had some beautiful and convenient green spaces.

Gardermoen is Oslo's main airport. A necessary evil, with its bad effects on greenhouse gas emissions. The airport is quite smart and clean, and is nicely designed. It could do with more places to sit.

Outside of the skiing season there is always accomodation...

Outside of the skiing season there is always accomodation available and Geilo offers all the facilities and amenities needed for a spring, summer or autumn trip. Most importantly it is very central for visiting the fjords, the mountains, the hardanger vidda, some beautiful farming valleys, multidudinous waterfalls, etc. etc. There is some fabulous walking/hiking in the vicinity. The road infrastructure is excellent (beware road closures in winter) and you can even get there from either Bergen or Oslo by train. You can do the famous Norway in a Nutshell tour from Geilo starting and finishing by train, although this summer because of the current timings of the fjord portion of the tour, it is not possible to complete it in a day and get back to Geilo.

Loved the location!

Loved the location! Calm environment, close to the Conference Center as well as to Train Station. Polite personnel and helpful when asked. Our room was clean and well organized yet small. We wish we could stay longer to explore the area.

Spiralen is a must, even if you need a taxi - great views from the top after a drive through a feat of engineering. Walks along the river are very pleasant and a couple of museums are worth visiting, especially on Saturday when they are free entry ! Excellent transport links to other parts of South East Norway and Oslo

Lovely area, very pretty with great river swimming spot and climbing trail. Most other things to do need a car though, which is not what their tourist info suggests. They say they have regular shuttle buses from Gol station to Hemsedal in summer and ski season but this definitely isn't the case in summer meaning we had to get a £££ taxi there or wait 3.5 hours for a bus

This was my first time in Fredrikstad and my stay was for business travel. The area is friendly, has modern charm, and had plenty of shops and restaurants to explore. I hope to return again and stay longer on a personal schedule with my wife to enjoy more of the area.

We stayed in Asker because it is close to Oslo, not really for Asker itself. Asker for me was only a sentimental place, I used to live and work there in 1988-89, so we spent half a day walking around and visiting the places I used to know 33 years before (some of them changed much, so they wer unrecognizable to me). Apart from that we have treted Asker as a unexpensive pied-a-terre to tourism in Oslo.

Amazing modern scandinavian architecture & ancient european...

Amazing modern scandinavian architecture & ancient european sites - all within walking distance. We stayed in a very cool apartment surrounded by modern architecture and museums - and within a 30-min walk we were looking at Oslo's oldest church - almost 1000 years old. Olso is a very expensive city so buckle up for paying a lot for restaurants and even just grabbing a coffee on the go.

The hotel shuttle bus serviced a number of hotels and cost 80Kr, about $12Aud, very cheap by Norway standards. We just needed somewhere to stay between flights and this was convenient and good value for money.
