We stayed just one night at the Akaroa Waterfront Motel, which is comfortable, central and pleasantly close to the water. Our purpose for going to Akaroa was the day walks and we did the the Skyline Circuit walk which is a reasonably strenuous 800m climb but with great views, then the Children's Bay circuit which is a little less strenuous, the next day. Can recommend the Ma Maison Restaurant, nice food and pleasant atmosphere
The Criterion was in a good part of town not in the busiest area but perfect as the cafes were near and good value . Recommend Ma Massion for lunch or evening , lovely situation and friendly staff serving high quality fare and Ronas which is great for breakfast or a coffee Trip on Harbour with Black cat was a great experience , informative and comfortable good to see Hector doplhins and seals and to hear the local history. That endof town wasnt as touristy , some lovely shops including grocer and butcher
An ideal location and studio for two people. Although right on the waterfront, our room was quiet and had all the facilities we needed. Akaroa had so much to offer that we had booked for 4 nights and used every bit of that time to explore the wonders of the peninsular as a whole. A meal on our last night at the Wharf seafood restaurant below our accommodation was excellent and a great way to end our stay
A beautiful place.....we had such an awesome time in this little slice of paradise. Plenty to do, great cafes and restaurants and nifty little shops. Our trip out with Akaroa Dolphins was brilliant. If you haven't yet visited Akaroa YOU MUST!
We did a lot of exploring in Akaroa with our 2 children (12 and 15) and enjoyed the activities. We did the Childrens Bay walk to the rhino, played mini golf and visited the Giants house. Recommend all of it.
Akaroa is a charming village with a great history. Full of fabulous photo and painting opportunities. We were pleased that there were no cruise ships operating although know that the town needs more international tourists, once the pandemic is over. We loved our trip with Akaroa Dolpins and saw Hector dolphins, fur seals and heaps of birds. Ably assisted by Buster, the dolphin spotting schnauzer and our driver Stu and assistant, Natalie. This is a must for visitors.
We were in the cottage , everything was just beautiful and cosy! Well furnished! Even Nespresso machine what a luxury! The bed was just too comfortable , we overslept actually!:-) Our host made a terrific breakfast! Very generous the eggs Benedict were just exquisite! Thanks again for everything! And also for the advise about the little bistro, we spent our last dinner in an excellent place!
A characterful property and excellent hosts made it a pleasure to stay there. John was very happy to share information on the wildlife in his wonderful wild garden and Lesley cooked a great breakfast. All in all nothing seemed too much trouble. We would willingly return. In fact we tried to extend but it was fully booked. No wonder. It is a special place.
The location is stunning. Lovely views over the grounds and out to the harbour. We were thrilled to get an upgrade into one of the cabins at the top of the property. The view was amazing. The cabin had everything you would need and was spotlessly clean and spacious. We have already recommended Mt Vernon to friends.
A fabulous property full of character. The owners were lovely and very helpful in respect of local recommendations etc. A glass of wine with canapes outside in the evening and an amazing, very full breakfast.
We really enjoyed our stay in such nice surrounds. Everything was neat and clean, beds very comfortable and kitchen was well stocked. Highly recommend
