Just a 2-minute walk from Akaroa’s Main Wharf, Tresori Motor Lodge offers stylish accommodations in the heart of Akaroa. All rooms are north-facing with beautiful mountain views. My husband and I were travelling with our 2 adult daughters(18 & 22). Friendly greeting on arrival and surprised with an upgrade to a Bruce Waterfront apartment(no. 28). This apartment was beautiful, lovely furnishings and the view was amazing ! Great location to the shops and waterfront. We had booked a cruise for the following morning with Akoroa Dophins and we were able to leave our car in the carpark once we had checked out. No complaints what so ever, it was a lovely place to stay and I hope to return one day.

Very easy to walk around. The harbour views were great; restaurants were good - we had a couple of great meals at Ma Maison. Akaroa is a very green town with a lot of history attached that is worth exploring. A real highlight for us was a harbour cruise on Fox II - a gaff rigged ketch - with (Captain) Roy giving a lot of history of the area, as well as attracting Hectors Dolphins alongside the boat as we sailed; and a catching up with number of big seabirds - Albatrosses, Petrels, Molyymawks. Very good value for money - and worth repeating.
Due to contaminated water, for health reasons we cut our holiday short. Very disappointed to leave as there is so much to see and do. Plenty of places to eat (you can't go past Billy Hayes on the waterfront) and shops to visit. Everything is within easy walking distance from most accommodation. Will definitely return. Saturday morning Farmers Market was a treat. The Giants House is a 'must see' and is well worth the entry fee. Enjoy the amazing mosaics and Devonshire Tea in the beautiful gardens.
Loved our trip on the Fox II with Roy our captain. He was full of interesting historical facts and made us understand Akaroa so much better, thanks Roy (and Sabrina!) La boucheron du village provided us with much of our delicious food for the week - great butcher who also sells excellent bread and house made lasagna, amongst other delicacies. The Four Square opposite sells lovely fruit, veges etc. and was the perfect partner. Murphy's Seafood (also a van on wharf) was exceptional - freshest fish, generous burgers at reasonable prices. The Wharf restaurant was a beautiful place with outstanding service for local clams and a super pizza. Who needs France??
The Giant's House was a 'must see' visit. Eating was expensive and we didn't really find a favourite place. The sail around the harbour on the fox 2 was a great experience as well, although the guy giving the commentary needs to tone down his enthusiasm about viewing sheep on the hills for us 'kiwis'!
Akaroa is a fantastic wee town. Just over a hour from Christchurch. There are many things to do that have little or no cost. A good library. Great walks. The beaches and many other things. The locals were friendly and pointed out shortcuts , locations and infomation I needed. If you have time visit some of the other historic bays near by.
A charming little seaside town with a French flavour. Plenty of lovely paces to stay, and plenty of places to enjoy a meal or a coffee, most with a view of the sea. There are trips on the harbour to see wildlife, and it's a lovely place to walk, or just relax.
