The highlight was the cat named "Monte." Carl was so sweet in having us be able to take Monte to our room. The sweetest cat ever. Monte even let us know when he wanted into our room during the stay with soft meows. For those not into cats, this was a great place. The proprietors were friendly and helpful. Very cute place within a 5 minute walk to town. We spent three days in Arrowtown and if we hadn't already been skiing, longer would have been great. Food options are numerous and we were very active during our stay: Took the hike around German Peak, hired mountain bikes and rode by two beautiful rivers to the Gibbston Tavern for lunch. We rented regular mountain bikes but everyone else was on E bikes. Caught up on Barbie and Oppenheimer at the cute little theater, while eating popcorn and sipping wine. Great coffee and ice cream at Patagonia. Wonderful dinner at Aosta.

Was the most amazing experience This place is lovely and handy right location We didn't want to leave thank u so much amazing would book again in future
Arrowtown is a historic gold mining town, on the banks of the beautiful Arrow River. A lovely haven, close enough to Queenstown but away from the hustle and bustle. Beautiful old-world charm and shops, great dining. Has its own wee boutique movie theatre Dorothy Browns (very busy so be sure to book in advance). Very close to Coronet Peak skifield (approx 20 min drive), Lake Hayes walkway, Queenstown Bike Trail. Highly recommend the Arrow River walk (especially in autumn with the fall foliage), visit to the Chinese Settlement for gold mining history, watch a movie at Dorothy Browns boutique cinema, and sampling the local cuisine, beer and wine at the local dining places.
Loved staying in Arrowtown, location perfect, so close to ski fields, wineries, Golf Courses, Balloon Flight, Frankton and Queenstown but not as busy. A Must Do if weather permits (we waited 6 days but so worth the wait to do Sunrise Ballons flight which was the highlight of our trip.)
Arrowtown is a character filled town, easy to get around, has an excellent museum and art gallery. Unfortunately we did not have time to see the Chinese historical area. Lovely time in autumn with all the trees changing colour.
It was a great place for two couples and very handy to Millbrook. One thing that could be better is the driveway to the cottage, it stops 50m short making lugging heavy suitcases over the paddock quite difficult
April best time to see autumn colours which were stunning. Lovely shops and plenty of good eateries. Location good for doing other activities. History abounds in the area. Slow cuts and Fork and Tap we found were very good places to eat. Food not overpriced in Arrowtown we felt. Wonderful 'lolly' shop for kids.
It is central to all attractions but didn't have the traffic of Queenstown. We could walk to the town. The town had great dining and wine bars. It had a really pretty aspect and was only a few minutes drive to Queenstown. Glad we choose Arrowtown over Queenstown.
