My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at EBB Dunedin. We loved the unique design of the building and the beautifully styled interiors — the room was thoughtfully furnished and very comfortable. The overall atmosphere is modern yet warm, and everything felt high quality and well considered. The service was welcoming and professional, making the stay even more pleasant.

Room was very comfortable and well laid out. Washer-dryer was very useful, as were the fridge and microwave. Front desk staff were great. Easy parking in a garage, even if we had to pay for it. Shower was good. Comfortable chairs. Breakfast was fine. Lunch in restaurant was very good. Location was good with easy access to downtown and to Peninsula.

How well you like your stay in Dunedin is relative to your planning and the reasons you went there. Dunedin is steeped in history, it is also quite a hassle-free place to visit compared to other New Zealand cities. If time allows a drive down to Portabello on a nice sunny windless day is an absolute joy. Failing that why not go and have a nosey at the Dunedin Train Station, it is old but very beautiful.

Dunedin was great to explore, which we managed to do despite very wet summer weather. The train journey on the Taieri Gorge, was brilliant, very well narrated and informative. We enjoyed walking on the coastal path despite the rain and wind, the boardwalk is brilliant.

Dunedin surprised me in the best way.

Dunedin surprised me in the best way. It’s a compact city with a rich blend of history, nature, and culture. From its striking architecture and museums to the nearby beaches and wildlife, there’s plenty to explore without the rush of a big city. Everything feels calm, friendly, and walkable, making it an ideal destination for travelers looking for a peaceful yet interesting getaway.

We spent six days there and used Dunedin as a base to visit surrounding regions for nature and wildlife experiences. The things that we enjoyed most was the close encounters with sea lions and fur seals at different coastal locations. Unlike Queenstown that we had visited previously, the city was not packed with tourists. It was quieter and less crowded. You will love the place if you are fond of church buildings and their architecture.

This is the second stay here for us. Both stays have been awesome. The motel apartments are absolutely huge and super comfortable. Motel staff members are super nice people. Even get some milk on arrival, newspapers daily and new towels and rubbish taken from the room each day. The motel apartments are definitely dated but that goes with the Dunedin experience and the apartments have character and the comfort factor. Extremely great value for money as very affordably priced compared to other accommodation.
