Such a beautiful old hotel, the elevator is old school, the window fittings look original, everything looks original but so well kept and maintained. this hotel has no air conditioning but does have heating for the cooler months. Walking distance to the main hub, free onsite parking. Breakfast is a continental breakfast so be prepared for fruits, yogurt, cereal, toast and croissants. I love Dunedin. It’s a great city with everything you need for a quiet stay or an active stay, and there are often good events going on. People are friendly and welcoming and the views around the city are spectacular
Even though it was technically winter(first week of December) the weather was very sunny and dry. The Scottish influence is everywhere from Robert Burns statue to street names. We thought the university has a pleasant setting with many trees and river flowing through campus
Wonderful old city with a Scottish influence, many old well kept buildings and various attraction that will keep you busy for at least a week. Easy to walk around the central district, the Spates brewery tour was super interesting, even for someone who doesn’t drink beer! Penguins and albatross viewing/tour worth the trip. Lots of activities in the city and surrounds
Loved the vibe of the city. People are friendly, lots of places to see and to do things. Try the trip out to see the Albatross in the Monarch boat, visit Baldwin Street, see the Six60 house where the band formed, go to Larnachs Castle and Olverson Historic Homestead. Plenty to do and see.
Dunedin is a great place to explore. Something for everyone - food, shopping etc, outdoors and wildlife. Would especially recommend The Esplanade, a beachfront, Italian restaurant with delicous food and great service and Taste Nature, an organic deli Cafe 😋
The Otago Peninsula is so beautiful. Much nicer than I expected. The southern side is the place to stay, I was amazed at the walking/ biking track that ran so far along the coast. A drive along the peninsula roads will give you breathtaking views, 360° in some cases. I could happily live down here. Didn't get to the Castle, didn't have enough time and we had our dog with us. And, people were super friendly. And, the best pizza ever was had at the Portobello Pub.
North Dunedin, Dunedin
The hotel was well situated - convenient to walk into central Dunedin, and close to restaurants. The owners of the hotel were very friendly and helpful - provided lots of advice about places to visit and where to eat. We were also able to use the washing machine and dryer which was very handy. Our bed was comfortable and the room well appointed. Definitely recommend as a place to stay in Dunedin.
Exceptional food, cocktails and service in the Press Club. Convenient location - just a short walk to The Octagon and other conveniences. A wonderful stylish Hotel - thoroughly enjoyed our 2-night stay so much that we stayed again on our return to Dunedin. Would definitely recommend. Special mention to the gentleman who assisted with our luggage and to the entertaining bar staff.
The breakfast was huge and delicious with a great variety. All the staff were so friendly and the kitchen/restaurant staff were quick to re fill our drinks and to make sure everything was ok. We stay at this hotel every time we come to Dunedin as it is so close to the city centre, we love having two big comfy beds, the staff are so friendly and the breakfasts are the best!
Loved everything about our stay. Gorgeous hotel, friendly staff and the bedrooms were well designed, comfortable with high-end finishes and a very luxurious bathroom. The only suggestion I would have is to have a bit more water available. My daughter and I absolutely loved it and will most definitely go back there.
North Dunedin, Dunedin
Well presented and spotlessly clean with an excellent shower. Everything you could realistically want for a short stay. Very close to the Botanical Gardens and restaurants within walking distance. Downtown Dunedin is 20 minutes walk or a short bus-ride from right outside the hotel.

Enjoyed staying at this hotel for a number of reasons. Very welcoming hosts, great location to town and rooms were good size and very clean. No A/C in room so we were provided a fan which was fine.
Fantastic location to explore Dunedin city, the hotel has an interesting history with memorabilia displayed in the bar area. I stayed in a single room which was comfortable and good value for money.
The hotel location is so convenient and easy to park my car, street parking is for free from 6pm till 9am. There’s Countdown nearby. All attractions are within walking distance.
