Located on the outskirts of Greymouth, Paroa Hotel offers comfortable accommodations with free Wi-Fi and enchanting seaside views. It is 10 minutes' walk from South Beach. The hotel added items to the inventory that made the room extra special. There was a bottle of wine, 2 glasses, refrigerator bar, fan, milk, to name a few. We arrived late and hadn't eaten. The kitchen was closing, but the owners had a meal prepared anyway. Paroa Hotel goes the extra mile for their guests. The food was delicious!

Featuring a garden, Mont's Cottage is a holiday home located in Awatuna. Guests benefit from a terrace and free onsite private parking. Free WiFi is provided. Located on the west coast of the south island, Theater Royal Hotel offers a restaurant and a bar. The themed rooms offer antique furnishings and cable TV. Some rooms include free WiFi access. We stayed in the Seddon Suite, the old bank building across the street from the hotel. It was huge, beautiful and fun. The antique furnishings were just right and the bathroom with tub and shower were great after hiking up at Arthur's Pass all day. Most notably, the chef is excellent at the restaurant. We ate there 2 nights and both were delicious . We also got savoury pies to go for our hikes, and they were great too. The staff is super, cheerful and hard working. All in all a great treat to stay at the Theater Royal Hotel.

It's the best location for West Coast sights, both north and south of town. That said, we were a bit bored while there, because a cyclone was coming through so we only visited the Monteith's Brewery in town. Outdoor activities were impossible. There are some good restaurants in and south of town.
The town is run down, good history displays but these could be seen whilst passing through. Most restaurants were closed on Sunday. We arrived by train and recommend continue travel to Westport or Hokitika.
Small town with AMAZING VEIWS! Greymouth was a great hub to get out into the bush walking as well see many historical sites. Then nice to come back to the great options for dinner and breakfasts. We loved Monteiths Brewery and the breakfast at Robert Harris Cafe was really yummy. Their pancake stack with berries and Greek yoghurt was so good!
Love the West Coast, Greymouth was the place I was born. Everyone who lives in Greymouth are lovely & friendly. Good supermarkets. Lovely clean town, love the rough beaches, I always feel I have come home when I am in Greymouth.
After getting off the trans alpine train, Greymouth is a good starting point to explore the west coast. You can hire a car and pick up at the train station. Plenty of local pubs to get a great meal and beer. Lots of tourist guides and walks.
This is a nice little town. Some shops were closed, but we ate two meals there, evening and breakfast, and thought it was quite good. Not sure I would spend more than a day or two here, but very nice along the way to other places.
Izzy went above and beyond to accommodate me. I had an unplanned 1-night stay in Greymouth due to illness and I arrived feeling the worst I have felt in years. Izzy made up the room quickly for me and darkened the room for me so I could sleep less than 5 minutes after I arrived and 10 mins after booking. I appreciated it so much - this level of service cannot be offered by a hotel. She was super easy to speak with and very hospitable. Room was comfy. Kitchen fully stocked.

We were only looking for somewhere to stay for the night on our way down the west coast. Greymouth Motel is what you would expect of a motel. Comfortable enough, but not somewhere I’d been keen to stay more than 1 night. Parking was available right outside our door, which was great. Also, it’s next door to a family restaurant and bar, which was handy for dinner (especially as it was raining when we arrived).
