It was so comfortable. The beds are great. The property is so quiet and peaceful and the owner was nice and understanding of how tired we were. Also extremely accommodating when I needed to change my check in time. Their response to my request was very quick.

Lovely comfortable studio that had everything I needed. The rural outlook from the studio and outside area was great. I was greeted by the friendliest little cat and there were ponies over the fence. I appreciated the thoughtful touches like toothbrush/paste sets which I didn't need but indicated a high level of care. I had a great sleep here and will use it again as a stop over on a long drive.

We were initially concerned that the road noise would be an issue, but once we were inside you couldn't hear the traffic. Very comfortable place and it suited our needs perfectly. Location and ease to get to fitted in with our plans of visiting Hobbiton the following day.

We enjoyed our stay at Kauri Lodge.

We enjoyed our stay at Kauri Lodge. Clean and tidy with every amenity we needed and nice and quiet. Easily sleep a big family. Shona was a great host, and we would not hesitate to recommend it to others

A great stopover point if travelling long distances in the north island. We usually stay in Hamilton, but Karapiro has beautiful scenery, peace and serenity and just a short drive from Cambridge for restaurants, shops and petrol.

There is nothing in Karapiro except some houses, a dam and a...

There is nothing in Karapiro except some houses, a dam and a single cafe. I'm sure if you're into watersports it's great. We stayed two nights in order to visit the Hobbiton movie set, and that was enough Karapiro for us. Expect to drive to Cambridge at least once a day for dining or supplies whilst staying in Karapiro.

The country atmosphere was wonderful.

The country atmosphere was wonderful. We really enjoyed the modern facilities and the quietness after living in Auckland all our lives. Very relaxing and only 12 minutes drive into Matamata township and Hobbiton was only 7 kilometres away. We ate at Osteria Italian Restaurant. Magnificent food but slightly expensive. We had lunch at Ronnie’s Cafe. Always yummy and very reasonably priced
