Located in Katikati and surrounded by 32 hectares of native bush and a sparkling stream, Sapphire Springs Holiday Park and Thermal Pools offers 3 warm outdoor swimming pools and a children's... Comfy beds and lots to do there for the kids. We spent the day at the pools and the next day we done the bush walks. Was lovely waking to the peaceful sounds of the river flowing and birds chirping.

I liked how peaceful and spaced out the town was. Not a lot going on but activities includes, great deal for avocados, bookstore by Ti Tree, cute little bakery and cafe spots, pottery, bird gardens, train tracks/historic mine area, museum and murals. Very scenic with hidden restaurants like Falls Retreat - provided you have a booking beforehand as they usually have booked out tables. Waihi beach and the fish and chip store is a classic for a beach day - tip: order the food from the store first and then go in the water as wait times are 30-50mins due to busy-ness. Easy to get around town by car.
Katikati is a friendly town close to bush walks, beaches and Tauranga. There are some lovely places to stay and eat and the locals are helpful. SH 2 is a pain and getting in to Tauranga can be frustrating.
Love the town, quiet and peaceful, the people are lovely and also respectful. Me and my partner travelled just around the corner of purple hens to a mate of mine as it was his birthday. So it was great to be close by, rather having to travel some more to get to him. I loved how flowery the town was because it gave a nice Aroma to the towns atmosphere. Unfortunately me and my partner only stayed for one night and had to head home but that one night was enough for me and her to come to the arrangement that we were going to go back there in the future as I said earlier, love the town, quiet and peaceful, the people are lovely and also respectful.
this town has got a nice vibe about it and love all the murals on the buildings and walls. We went for a meal at the Talisman Hotel and the service and food were wonderful that we decided to go again another night to try something else on the menu. Value for money.
Loved spotting interesting murals along our route to classes during a full-on weekend school organised and catered for by a very dedicated team of friendly locals. Would recommend taking more time to walk around the town.
The purpose of my trip to Katikati, and that of the friend I travelled with, was to attend the Waikato Bay of Plenty Region Queen's Birthday Weekend Scottish country dancing school, hosted by the Katikati Scottish Country Dance Club. It was a brilliant school, and a really nice place to stay. We didn't have much free time but did manage a swim at Sapphire Springs, which was lovely. I wish that Wellington had thermally heated pools!
Fantastic hosts! Very welcoming and thoughtful. Took our dietary requirements in stride and had plenty of local knowledge. Probably the best place we have stayed in New Zealand by a mile.
