Set overlooking Picton Harbor, Beachcomber Inn Picton offers an outdoor pool, free parking and free WiFi. It is 2625 feet from Picton Ferry Terminal and 1312 feet from the Picton Train Station. The place was above awesome !!! We were so surprised that it was situated perfect at the harbor with stunning views and tranquil atmosphere. Everything was walking distance, we only used the car for out of town trips. Our unit was vip standard (but it was a standard unit and we experienced it as it was the best in the house) . The unit was perfectly cleaned daily and used products were replaced daily (we stayed for 4 nights) The receptionist was smiling the moment we enter and immediately we felt the feeling of a great 4 days coming. We were treated like vip, everything was explained well and service was awesome, even our parking was perfect.

We only stay one night, we almost stayed longer glad we didn't. Understandable it's a transit town the gateway to the South Island or last stop before going North it was disappointing 80% of the people we came across did not know the understand of good customer service. Highlight was the E-KO tour we went on, highly recommend it, great staff, amazing tour. A good selection of wine at the supermarket, yummy Indian takeaways, friendly staff, great value, stunning weather, scenery and great walks. At one of the cafe's we went too the cooks/kitchen staff refused to add some tomatoes onto toast as one person in the group is vegan, or do any changes, so she had nothing. One staff member who was customer facing (on the till) wasn't wearing her mask correctly. There was one lovely waitress who was almost in tears from what we overheard she was getting a hard time from the kitchen. We moved onto Blenheim and we will be going back, we enjoyed a real kiwi experience of fantastic customer service, nothing was a problem from the shops, restaurants or winery's we went too, everyone was catered for from the vegan to gluten and sugar-free friend.
Beautiful little place and gateway to the Marlborough Sounds which is a must do while there. Lots of boat trips and walks. Great range of restaurants in Picton. We had a good meal at Seamus's Irish Pub.
We really enjoyed the wildlife and dolphin cruise! It was an amazing experience! We also enjoyed visiting the museum. I found it easy to get around all the activities we needed to do in Picton. We walked everywhere. The weather was amazing!
Loved driving around the outer areas of the place to see and swim in all the bays and little beaches that the sounds have to offer (drive and 10 min walk down tops), we are more beach goers and bbq's on the beach people...so was great to find a new spot every time, friendly locals, and very helpful, great places to eat out or just grab a coffee, the supermarket is small but has all the things you need.
Picton and the area around it is stunning and full of surprises. I am guilty of being one of those people who usually gets off the ferry and drives straight off to the next destination, but I think from now on I will be making Picton part of my destination too.
Picton is a cute little town at the entry to Marlborough Sounds - the arrival point for those arriving from the North Island by ferry. Lots of lovely walks with views of the Sounds. Car rental places in walking distance, lots of cafes and safe beaches for swimming.
The food in the restaurant was excellent but it fell short on detail such as dirty and un-ironed tablecloths and stained chair covers. The hotel facilities did not live up to the standard advertised and it is clear that the owner is an outstanding chef but not a hotelier. The young people working at The Escape to Picton were willing but lacked direction.

Amazing. After driving from the North of the north island and getting to the hotel at 2am. Easily found my name and room number on reception door and the key. And even the view at night is amazing. And I couldn’t believe my eyes of the absolute beauty I saw in the morning. Cannot wait to stay again to visit and explore Picton. 20/10.

Location is good if you are taking the ferry to Wellington. There is a kitchenette if you would like to cook a meal. There is a nice sitting area in the garden area outside the hotel. You can access your room from the outside.
One of the best places I have ever stayed. Such a lovely house. The hosts are taking care of you and give you a ride if necessary. So if you go to Picton, stay there. A hidden gem like Picton itself
