The 19th-century Duke Hotel is located on the waterfront, overlooking the stunning Bay of Islands. It features a guest lounge, restaurant and bar and garden bar, as well as a gymnasium. Decor has a well preserved mid century feel about it. A unique air about it that could easily have been lost through less sensitive development.
Located on a private waterfront headland just a 4-minute walk from Pipiroa Bay, The Clendon offers resort-style accommodations, a short walk from the start of the Russell Walkway Hiking track. Breakfast was amazingly good. Highly recommended! The staff super friendly and helpful and everything was great

Overlooking Matauwhi Bay, Onuwhao B&B Guest Lodge offers free Wi-Fi and free afternoon tea upon arrival. It features wrap-around verandas and outdoor seating where you can enjoy stunning bay views. The breakfast was sensational, probably the best I've had anywhere. The rooms and decor were exquisite, the hosts (Gordon and Liz) were extremely friendly and helpful. I think it is probably one of the best B & Bs in Russell.

Russell is very beautiful. Went to the Duke of Marlborough Hotel on the waterfront. Great service, delicious food and lovely building with lots of charm. Beaches are easily accessible and easy to walk everywhere; if you're a walker. Laid back, easy to unwind and just enjoy. Full of History; take the time to visit all the places, not difficult to do as it's a small place. People are friendly and helpful; if you need anything ask.
Russell is a small town, which is both good and bad. But because of the high proportion of tourists and tourist-focussed businesses, it is not an insular small town. It is very proud of its history and presents this well. Very few New Zealand towns feel historic, but Russell certainly does. Plus it has a lot of very, very modern outdoor activities on its doorstep. Something for everybody
So much to do for every age and fitness level ,must get into or out on the water and dive into the history. An excellent base to explore the far North, great restaurants and clubs highly recommend the swordfish club visitors most welcome. Half hour ferries o Pahia, friendly people.
We loved Russell, we loved the dinner with musician. We particularly loved the Gables restaurant. We also loved the dolphins & hole in the rock cruise with Fullers. Also loved the wonderful experience on the yacht Phantom! We both absolutely loved Russell and will be back
The Russell waterfront is a lovely place on which to relax. There is a calming beautiful atmosphere about it. People of all age groups and races blend in very happily. I have been to many places around the world and have found none more beautiful. There is plenty of early NZ history to explore. Also many excursions to take to other places, including wonderful islands eg Otehei bay on Urupekapeka.
A character filled village with an interesting historical story set in the stunning Bay of Islands. Plenty of activities available and places to explore in the surrounding areas as well and further afield. As we were there early in the season we did not have to suffer the crowds which was very pleasant. While the eateries were excellent most were closed early in the week (Monday/Tuesday) which made your choice limited especially if you were on a budget. Some other shops were also yet to open again for the tourist season if you are of the shopping kind (we're not!).
The location was superb as it offered both peaceful seclusion as well as easy access to Russell itself. The location was a great base for enjoyable walks that offered stunning views; we also made good use of the free kayaks followed by a relaxing 'soak' in the hot tub.
Really clean rooms. The Accommodation is located in the center of the town so it is only one or two block walk to restaurants and shops. The staff is friendly and helpful. There are several excellent seafood restaurants within a short walk from the Accommodation.

Lovely room with fantastic views from both the bed and the deck. Well equiped for all our needs and minutes from town and the beach. Welcoming and helpful hosts. We will be back.

We loved the location, in walking distance to everything. We enjoyed the privacy and quiet of the garden and the comfortable beautiful interior.

A lovely place, beautifully maintained, friendly staff. Great position, easy access to the town. Great fun for the kids.
