We didn't pay too much attention when booking this accommodation, as we just wanted a place to rest for a night after the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and before driving to Wellington. What a lovely surprise this place was! I absolutely loved staying here - spacious and clean rooms, a comfortable bed and a covered terrace in front of the apartment. Even though we didn't get to use the kitchen, it was supplied with pretty much all apliences one would need. Some details I appreciated and haven't seen before were the parking spots next to every apartment and the Netflix account the apartment had for guests. The gardens were pretty and well kept. However, I have to admit that what helped tremendously with my experience at the Creel Lodge hotel was the beautiful and incredibly friendly cat that decided to make us his friends and waited for us to wake up the next morning in front of our door.

Love the cleanliness, coziness, and decor. The bed was incredibly comfy and all the amenities were great. Location is close and central for Tongariro and Lake Taupo. This was our favourite accommodation in North Island. Wish we had time to utilize the outdoor common area :)

We didn't even need a key! Built in door code. This home had a fully stocked kitchen, a beautiful fireplace, natural light and outdoor table. My friends and I particularly appreciated the clothes line outside to dry all of our ski gear! The host was nice enough to meet us upon arrival and ask if we needed anything else. Lovely people and lovely home. Thank you!

Hot thermal heated pool outside our door! Excellent location in small township, quiet, walk to free DOC thermal walk and short drive to lake. Spotlessly clean!!! 10 stars for cleanliness. The new beds were excellent. The family unit had a lot of room Note: The Tokaanu Hotel is an older establishment, but it is in the process of an upgrade, and the price absolutely reflects this. We would absolutely stay again.

Spacious unit. Fridge, microwave, crockery and cutlery. Bath with shower above but L- shaped grab rail for accessibility. More like a motel than a hotel. Swimming pool. They are renovating what has been a quality hotel in past years. The sign at the moment doesn't say Tokaanu Hotel, but the street number is correct. This is being renewed soon.

It was a nostalgic visit, as I had worked there many moons ago, when it was still the Tourist Hotel Corporation and in private management as well.
