Located a 3-minute walk from Waitomo Glow Worm Caves, Abseil Inn offers a garden, a shared lounge and accommodations with a patio and free WiFi. As described, the driveway is very steep, but worth the climb. Also recommend the nearby Huhu Cafe for dinner.
Just 1969 feet from the famous Waitomo Glow Worm Caves, this award-winning holiday park features a large swimming pool, outdoor hot tub, BBQ area and a children’s playground with trampoline. Great convenient & scenic location, next to an outstanding restaurant, very comfortable immaculate accommodations with nice view from patio, welcoming helpful host couple, pool and hot tub after a day of awesome activities, a great value and lovely experience!
Located in Waitomo Caves, a 17-minute walk from Waitomo Glow Worm Caves, JunoHall Backpackers provides accommodations with a shared lounge, free private parking, a garden and a tennis court. The place is so lovely, the staff are so friendly and the location is great. Just a minute walk from the blackwater caves centre and lots of animals around the area. Had one of the best nights sleep and got to feed some lambs!
Located in Waitomo Caves, a 15-minute walk from Waitomo Glow Worm Caves, Woodlyn Park Motel has accommodations with a garden, free private parking and barbecue facilities. The motel has family rooms. We have stayed at this property a few times now and just love the uniqueness and the staff are amazing
Surrounded by rural countryside, Glow Worms Motel features an outdoor pool, BBQ facilities and a children’s swing set. It offers self-contained accommodations with free Wi-Fi and lovely garden views. The manager stayed back despite our late check in, and made sure we got in fine. He is a very pleasant chap to talk to as well.
Waitomo Backpackers Ltd (Kiwi Paka Waitomo) offers accommodations in Waitomo Caves. There is a cafe/pizzeria on-site. Certain units include a seating area for your convenience. A TV is offered. Located just a stone's throw away from i-Site, within walking distance to the Waitomo Cave, and a great bar and restaurant that's children friendly, and the accommodation itself very pleasant (we stayed in one of the cabins, not the hostels), I couldn't ask for more! Definitely perfect for family who wants value-for-money accommodation to visit Waitomo Cave!
Great experience! Would recommend, in particular for families that don't have kids old enough (or game enough!) to do the black water rafting, doing the Two Cave Combo of the Glowworm Caves (boat ride) and Ruakuri Cave. We did the three cave combo which also included Aranui which was interesting, but probably unnecessary with kids. The Ruakuri Cave tour was especially informative and had all sorts of different things to look at and experience and you could take photos in the cave too. Would also recommend avoiding the onsite Cafe at the Glowworm Caves, expensive and very, very average food. The Waitomo Caves Village is two mins away and offers lots of other choices or places to eat :)
Flooded river caused slight changes to the tour for safety but the staff were friendly and cheerful and adapted well. The caves and Glowworm were worth seeing and the cave site infrastructure is well done. Glad we went.
I have went to Waitomo Glowworm Caves 45-Minute Experience and it was great. The staffs are friendly and they have shown special care to the need of my dad (old and couldn't walk as fast as the rest) and allowing me to use my phone for the translation of the caves experience. The guide is good and attentive.
We love the caves, but most of all are the waterfalls and the natural bridge. They are awesome to visit!!! The food at Huhu restaurant was excellent and reasonably priced. Abseil Inn's stay was unique and enjoyable.
I was amazingly fortunate on my guided tour of Ruakeri Cave as I was the only visitor on my early tour with an excellent guide. Got up close to the glow-worms and was amazed by the beauty of the stalactite and other formations. The entrance was spectacular. A lot of appreciated work has gone into this cave for accessibility for all.
Most amazing experience. We signed up with Spellbound for the tour in the caves. I would recommend it highly. Smaller company, great guide, no lines. Pictures of the glowworms were shared via email since we were not allowed to take pictures.

The location was excellent proximity to Waitomo Caves. We had a group of 6 staying in a two bedroom. It was a little tight but ok for one night. Shower was decent. Kids loved the pool, hot tub and trampoline. Staff were very friendly and booked our Waitomo Caves tour for us. Kitchen had all the necessary items that we needed. Close enough to Otorohanga and the Kiwi House.

Excellent location for Waitomo Caves. Rooms fine for one night despite some cobwebs in the corners and spiders webs and some cracked and peeling paintwork...but it is really a backpackers accommodation rather than a motel/hotel.

Wonderful reception at the hotel. We got a lot of information and recommendations about things to do in the area. The motel is conveniently located at the intersection and it is just a short drive to Waitomo caves village.

Love the feel of the history in this building and the old decor. And the continental breakfast. 😊
