Loved this City, immaculate and very friendly . We coverd 10 miles walking and felt very safe . In our short stay we covered Te papu museum FREE At the moment have a great exhibit of WW1 .Oriental bay FREE (Lovely walk along the water) and botanical gardens FREE Get the cable car to the top and walk back to city. . As it was a Sunday went to the outdoor farmers market near Te Papu lovely vibe and reasonable prices loaded up for breakfast on fresh produce and has lots of other healthy stalls , humus , etc great for us wfpb eaters who dont like the hotel breakfasts..lots of cricket playing (obviously ) Would definitely not miss visiting the capital .
Such a beautiful city, so self contained. You need to stay a minimum of two days at least. There is do much to see like the war museum, Mt Victoria look out point, Sunday's farmer's market, Victoria tunnel, Basement market, etc. The eating outlets are massive from the local to Vietnamese, Indian, Chinese and Mexican. We tried out KC's cafe and take away at Condenay street. It was worth the money. Don't forget to walk along the harbour. What a sight!
Te Papa has a fabulous display of World War 1, that is a total must see. We went to the Circa Theatre and enjoyed "The Ghosts of Christmas Parties" political satire, and (for kiwi travellers) deliriously funny. There are so many great eateries in Wellington, spoilt for choice. We particularly enjoyed Oida? -a greek restaurant at the bottom end of Broadway in Seatoun. We made the mistake of initally picking up a Thrifty rental at the airport for the day which was neither clean nor cheap, but the next day found Go rentals. They will collect you from the airport, and their cars are spotless, brand new, and half the price. The tram will take you from the city up to the gardens, and an enjoyable excursion.
We are not city lovers, but we enjoyed Wellington. There are many hikes, but you have to spend a lot of time getting through the city before the proper hike starts. Zealandia was special. You can return the next day for free with your previous days ticket.
'Small' creative city where you can walk to every part. Easy bus system too. Plenty taxis available. Beautiful water front with walkways, sculptures, etc. Cuba street for cafe's, restaurants, shops, grunge-alternative street (but also has upmarket restaurants etc.). Lambdon Quay for the chain stores and upmarket department store and business centre and the cable car up to the Botanical gardens. Courtney Place for theatre, movies, dinner (in the 2 streets off Courtney Place). Te Papa museum with excellent exhibits. Several other museums.... Best coffee in NZ is to be had here! And the food is pretty good too. My favourite is 178 Cuba street. Most places have good gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options.
Thoroughly recommend the hop on hop off bus. For us it was like having your own personal guide as we were the only ones on board! Great commentary and you could ask questions about what interested you in particular. We had pre booked a tour of the Houses of Parliament which was good. We also did the Te Papa and Wellington Museums but could have spent much longer at both had we had more time? We did the cable car up and back which was good. Amazing views from Victoria Look Out. We ate at The Crab Shack, which as the name suggests specializes in Crab! Excellent. Wellington is quite a walkable city and relatively easy to find your way around.

The property is located in the city centre, so you have access to public transport and many shops around. The cleanliness of the property is excellent, with superb and faster wifi. I also enjoy TV with a lot of channels. They have all the kitchen accessories. The receptionist are very friendly and ready to provide any help to you. I love the property and I will definitely stay here anytime I come to New Zealand. I will recommend anyone travelling to Wellington to make sure you book the property.

Very good hotel in convenient location, close to supermarkets, chemist, shops. Friendly and efficient staff. Nice restaurant and lobby bar. Valet parking. Rooms comfortable. Excellent service when I needed to rebook another night twice, due to family health problems. Hotel was almost at capacity but they gave me the same good price that I had paid on Booking.com out of compassion. Thanks, Rydges. Will stay again.

Comfy, quiet and spacious double bedroom in fairly central location (20 min walk to city centre) next to bathroom/kitchen facilities. Although no free parking there are plenty of car parks nearby, but be sure to get early bird and overnight to save on cost (there are hotels with free parking in Wellington, we were just unlucky as our original hotel got double booked).

Bed was very comfortable and nice quiet hotel. Having recently stayed else where in Wellington and not being able to sleep due to the city noise the Travel lodge was such a pleasurable place to stay as sleep and noise was never a problem, great value for money in comparison to other hotels. close and convenient access to the inner city lifestyle

Room was clean, spacious with well designed modern furniture. Central location makes the hotel close to all central city amenites and waterfront. Great to see the development preserved the building's history where appropriate which added character to the hotel. Restaurant food was beautiful as well.

It is an older hotel but was very modern. The restaurant was great and really liked the sitting area near the restaurant where you could sit and have a glass of wine or snacks and relax. The rooms were clean and well equipped. Two sets of elevators to serve the number of people there as well as an elevator to the street level for quicker access to Lambton Quay area. Loved the piano bar. Great location and well worth the money. Enjoyed my stay there very much.

This was a standard motel room (nothing fancy but had everything I needed and it was very clean) but the price was very fair for the location. I could walk easily to wharf, Te Papa, Cuba and the other active streets. Felt very safe walking around at night too. Front desk employees were quick to respond to any questions I had.
