The Hotel was the best we have ever stayed in. Pleasant and spotless with friendly staff. Wellington is an elegant city and very clean. We were only there for 3 days to meet with friends. Taken to eat in a restaurant, and also ate in the hotel. Both brilliant. Small bar in the lobby, lots of comfy chairs to sit in while watching TV there too, while waiting for friends. We were taken to eat at a Mongolian Restaurant by friends where you picked your own food and then they cooked it, and you put a choice of sauce on it. Great fun and an unusual night out for us. Next night the friends joined us for a buffet at the hotel, a wonderful selection of delicious food, eaten while a pianist played on the piano. Wonderful. Not enough time to see more of Wellington but loved what we did see.
The best city in New Zealand, where culture and creativity thrive. So much to see and do. Easy city to explore. Amazing beaches. Highly recommend a drive around the Miramar Peninsular (Motu Kairangi - stop for delicious food and coffee at Scorch-o-Rama) and out to Red Rock to take in the beauty of the rugged South Coast. So scenic and breathtaking. Head to Lyall Bay and enjoy coffee at Maranui Cafe, or grab an outside table at Spruce Goose to watch the planes take off and land. Te Papa museum is a must see, as is a Weta Caves tour.
Lovely city with lots of. Attractions, food variety and quality, harbor and friendly people. I imagine that this would be a very livable city. The New Zealand museum is extraordinary. I especially appreciate the fact that indigenous culture is integrated and promoted in the society…something other countries should emulate.
Lovely city but everything closes way too soon. Night life restricted to a few cafes and take-aways on main street. However, public transport is excellent and there is plenty to see and do. Good shops in the daytime. Being out at night can be a bit grim, street lighting in the centre could be better. Daytime Wellington is wonderful. Night time Wellington needs to be worked on.
Wellington is a vibrant large City and being the Capitol City of New Zealand, it offered many things to see and do. The City Centre/ CBD area is large and full of shops and businesses... the choice of shops and cafes and restaurants is vast. Transport within the Wellington area seems to be excellent, with many buses and many trains. All in all we enjoyed our time in Wellington and we will definately be back for another short break before too long. :-)
Always enjoy visiting Te Papa. The Wellington Museum is good too. Thunderbird Cafe on Featherston St do great brunches. Plenty of other good eating places on Cuba St & Courtney Place Good bus transport around the city (we usually catch a #2 bus from the Airport Motor Lodge on Hobart St as it's cheaper than the Airport Bus)
I think this hotel is Wellington' best kept secret for central city for budget travellers, rooms had all facilities with tv, fridge , tea and coffee making jug, and bed was comfortable, room was light and airy - ok a little traffic noise in the morning but to be expected in central city. The staff warm and friendly, the inclusive fully cooked breakfast was excellent, and highly commend the young Thai man in the restaurant was friendly, efficient and helpful. Central location and easy walk to downtown shopping and waterfront attractions.
Wellington
We have stayed at several Quest Apartments throughout New Zealand. The cleanliness, maintenance, as well as age of the room's decor of this facility has been the best that we have experienced thus far. The room was spacious and the kitchen extremely well-resourced for a couple's needs. Its close proximity to the city, meant it was easy to walk into central Wellington to the city and its attractions. This is the second time we have stayed at this particular facility and would do so again in the future.
I only stayed for a night with my family. Our room was clean with street view. Staff was very helpful during booking and on arrival when we had trouble with parking. Grabbing food from the restaurant was super helpful with 2 tired little ones on board. Didn’t have time to explore the city but location is very handy, found parking on the street safe enough to leave our fully loaded car. Likes that the restaurant was on the street front. Would recommend this hotel for families visiting Wellington.
Large warm quiet modern room with everything you need including a sitting area with a large window to watch the planes come and go. Extra large and exceptionally comfortable bed with many pillows to choose from. Rain showers I always love. 11 am check out is a bonus. Two restaurants on site plus eateries in the airport. Five minutes between checking out of our room and checking into our flight to fly home. Thank you to all of the staff at Rydges Wellington airport Hotel.
room was good but their was creaks in the bathroom tiles, and the water pressure in shower was very poor as it didn't was the shampoo out of my hair. and the meals was ok the cheese board was good but the fish was ok it was let down by the way it was cooked and the squeezy condiments. on our travels we stayed at a country hotel and their service, meals and rooms top which blown our expectation of the country hotel service. So for a 'Wellington City
This was a great hotel for a short business trip to the city. I was able to walk everywhere. It was clean, and I especially liked the kitchenette in the room; that was a pleasant surprised. I also liked how all toiletries, including laundry detergent, was provided by the hotel. Check in and check out was a breeze. I also appreciated the turn-down service with nightly teas. Oh, and it was quiet; no noise.
Was quiet but did stay Sunday & Monday nights. Very comfortable bed. Nice clean room. Extra tea / coffee etc. items required no problem for staff to supply. Great location to central city shopping and food outlets. Grateful to Manager for compensating me with free breakfast for an issue which inconvenienced me which was NOT the Hotels fault plus a TV cable fault, much appreciated 👍
This modern apartment hotel is terrific. All the facilities are modern. the place is immaculate, the rooms large and clean, and the floor to ceiling windows let in lots of gorgeous sunlight. The staff at the front desk was charming and helpful. Its location is very good for getting to all points around the city, the vast majority on foot.
This was our first time staying at the Sofitel Wellington and we will definitely be back. Though the Hotel isn't the closet to the city centre, everything else made up for this. The staff, room, food and facilities were all excellent.
Wellington
Everything nice room, comfortable bed, great location if you wish to be in the centre of the city. Reasonable rate very handy to catch the Interislander early the next morning. Paid car parking only a short walk from the Hotel.
This hotel is in the perfect location for shopping and for access to central Wellington sights and sounds. Well appointed rooms. In Room laundry facilities were a bonus! Staff were extremely helpful
Wellington
Hotel directly in the city centre of Wellington. The rooms are clean, and I liked the separation between the kitchen area and the bedroom. The bathroom was clean but nothing special.
This property is in the perfect position in the Wellington CBD. Everything is in easy walking distance - shopping, Te Papa, central business district, the harbour etc etc.
Wellington
Staff were good and the room was clean and tidy. I've stayed here many times before and the central location is excellent for events in Wellington CBD.
Location was great for Wellington City. The bar entrance is also really cool.
