Wellington is a beautiful city. I used to live there in the 80's-90's. Great to go and have evening walks along the harbour. I found out about Snapper Card for useage on the buses which were very regular at intervals of only minutes and cheap. There is plenty of choice for food. The city is vibrant.
Wellington is a beautiful city. I love staying in the city center which is close to many attractive-must visit-places, such as: Parliament building and Bee Hives, Museums, Cable car, and the lovely botanic garden.
Wellington is a lovely place full of vibrance, history and culture. There are many lovely little cafes, restaurants and bars. The Harbour front is beautiful. Our Beehive Parliament is historic. Te Papa is there near Wellington Museum too. The scenery is lovely the shops are trendy and it is easy to get around Wellington. There is a real buzz in Wellington and the people are friendly and diverse in culture.
Awesome mid sized city, full of romance and adventure if you look for it. Careful where you eat and drink as there are a few whom will gouge pricing. ($12 for a cider at one place on the waterfront caught me by surprise, when the previous place a few hundred meters away had same for $7) We won't be going back to the one place EVER again, and we visit frequently. (Ask first especially if you don't have a Kiwi accent)
Wellington is a great city - with lots of options, shopping in Lambton Quay and Cuba Street, Te Papa / City Gallery, Theatre options - great cafes and restaurants and some lovely walks and scenery - a walk up to Mount Victoria, Central Park, Zealandia and we love getting a mevo car and explore a bit further - out to the bay, Petone and Eastbourne. Favourite restaurants are Olive, Lorettas, Floriditas, Old Quarter, cafe Neo and Hangar. Great bookshops: Unity, Good Books and Schrodingers in Petone. Seashore cabaret is great cafe in Petone - worth the queue for a table. Don't leave without trying Duck Island ice-cream oncuba Street. Lots of public transport- easy to get about. Lovely to walk along the waterfront and end day with cocktails at Cuckoo.
Wellington
The staff at Gilmer Apartments (specifically Deb) are so welcoming and friendly. I arrived early in the morning, well before the normal check-in time of 2pm and Deb was lovely enough to check me in straight away!! I was so very grateful, what a treat. Late check-out option is fantastic too! The room itself was great, with lovely modern decor. Nice and bright and comfortable. The kitchenette and laundry was a plus. Centralised location with easy access to the main street of Wellington CBD. Great price! I will be staying again. Thank you.
The bed was very comfortable. Nice use of glass in the shower made an otherwise small room feel fairly spacious (but be aware that between that and the sliding glass, non-airtight bathroom door, you want to be sharing the room with a *very* good friend). Staff were great. Wasn't allowed to use the gym or restaurant because of my vax status, but that's not the hotel's fault. Aircon/heatpump, which isn't a given at this price point in Wellington.
Wellington
Excellent check in experience, fast and service was really good. Beds are very comfortable and the room was very clean. I was in town for a wedding so I didn't get to do much else at the hotel. The hotel has clean, odor free rooms, fridge, and microwave, lots of plug-ins, excellent quality toiletries, and nice towels. Best of all; a very good bed and quality cotton sheets. Super quality for the money.I will definitively be back the next time I am in the city.
We liked the fact that we could walk from our plane to our hotel room and that we had loads of choices of transport in and out of the Wellington City centre, Our room exceeded our expectations with a large bed, large settee, and large bathroom, and more amazing the room was completely soundproof. Evening Dining offered where Bar Meals or the Alacarte Menu and we found dining in was more pleasant than going out on the town.
Bad pillows, only one (thin) towel each which was disappointing as we were in Wellington for a special event that required very early morning travel and a few showers each. Room service meal was returned as completely inedible. Worst ever experienced. No newspaper. I stay in a lot of hotels and this not what I would describe as a five star experience. My first and last stay at a Sofitel
The room was clean and had all the necessary amenities for a short stay. The bed was super comfortable. The buffet breakfast was excellent and a lovely way to end our visit before heading out to walk around the city centre. Judging by the number of people there from outside the hotel, the citizens of Wellington rate the breakfast also.
We were in Wellington to mountain bike and required safe storage for our bikes, the staff allowed us to take our bikes up to the room providing they were clean. This was amazing. It would be great if the hotel had a lock up storage cage or room available for storage of bikes as the popularity of biking in the city grows.
My preferred place to stay in Wellington CBD. Great central location. The city noises are non-existent. Many hotels in the CBD you will hear people and rubbish collection, not here. Excellent price, especially when you compare their 1 bedroom apt against most studio rooms. Staff are super helpful and polite.
My family stay at the InterContinental every time they visit Wellington. The hotel is conveniently located in the city centre, the staff are always friendly and approachable, and the hotel room is tidy. I would highly recommend staying at the InterContinental Wellington.
Wellington
The location is just amazing. Walk through the city from this place actually a wonderful place in the Heart of Wellington. I think the second best part is the food, you get free meals in the evening and pancakes in the morning. Perfect!
location, hotel comfortable, staff really helpful. if i was to be picky 3 point plug in bathroom for hairdryer, shower small for tall person over all very comfortable stay and next time would book direct as would have been cheaper.
CityLife was very, very clean-unlike Rydges Wellington I recently stayed at, they were filthy and did not care at all. The room was quiet, bed comfortable, what more could you want.
Staff, location, rooms, parking, facilities, breakfast, staff. 😁 This is my second stay. This hotel is now my most favourite hotel in Wellington City. I would not stay anywhere else.
Good location, central to Wellington CBD, easy walk to the harbour and Te Papa Museum. Nice city view from our room. Plenty of cafes and restaurants surrounding.
I loved the location overlooking the wellington harbour. Quiet Hotel, clean, light and bright. Parking on site fabulous.Easy walk into city centre.
Location was right in the heart of Wellington city and we loved having the unexpected bonus of a ensuite in our two bedroom apartment.
Cute funky inner city hotel
Very friendly staff. Parking on site is extra, but the street parking may be difficult and your car has to be moved by 8am, so it’s worth it. Breakfast is included and is excellent. Eggs, breads, cereals, potatoes and fruits. Check in and check out is very quick and easy. A market is down the block so easy to run in and pick up any food items ready to go. Short walk to center.
We reserved the executive room. It was perfect.
Everything. Lush art, comfy bath, great details.
