Ohtel offers exclusive 5-star luxurious accommodations with award-winning service in Oriental Bay. Ohtel was a last minute choice when the QT Wellington sent us a email with the “fine print” notification that we’d be charged a temporary NZ300 In cash. I thought this was ridiculously outrageous especially as we were departing NZ in less than two days and wouldn’t have had time to spend it. Anyway, Ohtel turned out to be a great choice! A small boutique hotel on Oriental Parade in just the right place. Our room was gorgeous and the bathroom was unbelievable. The room had a small terrace and a view of the harbor. Tamara offered us a welcome drink of our choice after we settled in and she gave us some useful tips on where to walk and recommended a couple of good restaurants (Coehne’s was very good). Breakfast is included downstairs in the onsite restaurant.

Easy to get around the inner city walking but driving a bit of a challenge with all the one way roads. A cool city with lots of character and vibe and great places to visit. Cafes and restaurants are very good. Taxis were easy to get around the city too.
Wonderful, accessible city with easy walks, great sights and shops. Te Mata museum was excellent and easily could have spent more than a full day there. Also went to see Weta studios - highly recommended
Such a great city to explore on foot, the waterfront so accessible and quirky with its landscaping and artworks along the way. The diversity in Cuba st keeps it being a happening place , live music 7 days a week in 1 or 2 pubs, and heaps of cafes & eateries of all ethnicities to cater for all. Te Papa a must see whatever the current exhibition. Can’t beat Wellington on a good day !!
Interesting city to explore. Go on the Parliament tour, Te Papa museum will blow you away, check out the night life at Courtenay Place and party with the locals. Wake up and wonder along the picturesque waterfront, walk down the hipster Cuba Street, spot the statues and sculptures littered across the city. Get immersed in modern art installations at the city art gallery, appreciate the mix of modern and old architecture blended into a vibrant capital city. The weather can be pretty extreme over a two night stay: a mild morning turns into a warm sunny day before lunch, caught out in a rain shower in the afternoon and witnessed something of a storm that night. The next day the storm resides but extreme chill factor southerly winds make going outside something to contend with. Next day an absolute stunner not a cloud in the sky or a gust to speak of.
Everything in close proximity. Great Shopping. Friendly People. Great Food...Dragonfly fab! Prefab fab! Great Bars & Hotels. Quirky shops & places. Cool culturally. Te Papa fantastic. I can forgive the weather.
We found the bus services for Wellington were extremely helpful. The airport flyer took us almost directly to our hotel and was very regular in its services, the bus which goes to the zoo was regular also (every half hour I think) and gave us the flexibility to go to the zoo on our on schedule rather than based on bus schedules. The zoo bus also was right by our hotel. The nightlife is amazing and vibrant, and there is food for EVERYONE, no matter what you like. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Sweet Mother’s Kitchen on Courteney place. The buttermilk chicken po boy is to die for. We also liked heading to Timezone arcade and reliving our childhoods.

The property is located in the city centre, so you have access to public transport and many shops around. The cleanliness of the property is excellent, with superb and faster wifi. I also enjoy TV with a lot of channels. They have all the kitchen accessories. The receptionist are very friendly and ready to provide any help to you. I love the property and I will definitely stay here anytime I come to New Zealand. I will recommend anyone travelling to Wellington to make sure you book the property.

The James Cook clearly is a business-trip and conference hotel but, with close scrutiny of the Wellington central street map, it is only a short walk from tourist attractions like the Cable Car and the National Museum and the main shopping streets. With a good deal from Booking.com, the hotel is an excellent choice for exploring Wellington but that extra reason is very important. Otherwise, the hotel is efficient and a typical large city centre offering but nothing memorable.

Location for the ferry to the south island was perfect. Amazing welcome and introduction to the city which allowed us to plan our time and enjoy all Wellington has to offer. General feeling of the hostel is great: clean, well looked after and fab benefits like tennis courts, tv room and lounge. Bathrooms and toilets were modern, clean and had additions like face towels and hairdryers. Great hostel- best we stayed in New Zealand!

Comfy, quiet and spacious double bedroom in fairly central location (20 min walk to city centre) next to bathroom/kitchen facilities. Although no free parking there are plenty of car parks nearby, but be sure to get early bird and overnight to save on cost (there are hotels with free parking in Wellington, we were just unlucky as our original hotel got double booked).

Good Location, Handy to Public Transport into Wellington City or Airport. The Airport is also Walkable on a nice day, depending on Weather. Fast Food outlets just around the corner, plus Two good Supermarkets within Walking distance. Room was small as a Caravan, but very well equipped for the Solo Traveller.
