The host was very friendly and inviting and gave a good overview of the accommodation. The room was basic but cosy and warm and the stay was good value for money

A very nice town at the centre of a great area . Great area to explore - a lot to fit in to the time we had . Certainly a pity that the town was dominated by shop closures etc , but I guess that this is a sign of current times .

The Sergeant Gallery has reopened after renovations and it is a real treasure for the city.
The old elevator up Drury Hill to the two lookout towers is fun.
Saturday morning market by the river is awesome.
Some amazing op shops and Butchards Pie shop, only open week days, is a tasty stop.
It's a short drive out to the lovely Kai Iwi beach calling in at the botanical gardens on the way.
Some great walking or cycling as well.

Whanganui is a great little city which offers a wide variety of attractions, a trip on the steamboat being one of the main ones. If you prefer the countryside then that is only a few minutes drive away from the CBD.

Second visit to Whanganui and we just love it.
Second visit to Whanganui and we just love it. The glassworks is a place not to miss. We have been to several shops with glasswork but the one in Whanganui stands out as the very best!
The walk along the river is nice, but if you have time: book a guided walking tour. A great way to learn the history while discovering less known places

Everything you could need and more! Best accom in Whanganui for groups. Great to have separate bedrooms and a proper lounge and kitchen. The garden and deck is really lovely - plus the snack bar is a massive highlight!
