Travelers who stayed in Panama City near Tocumen International Airport (PTY) have said good things about Crowne Plaza Airport, an IHG hotel, Riande Aeropuerto Hotel Casino, and Courtyard by Marriott Panama Metromall.
Bella Vista, Calidonia, and Casco Viejo are popular with other travelers visiting Panama City.
Underground train makes it easy to get around Panama City. Just buy metro card $2.00 and load when needed. Also good for buses which are also budget friendly. Passes near Tocumen International Airport. A great alternative to taxis. One train goes through banking district and straight to the major bus terminal that is next to a mall that has over 700 stores and near Albrook Gelabert Airport for local flights. Plenty of clean on budget hotels. The Panama Canal and museum in Miraflores is easy to get to by bus. Balboa Avenue is great neighborhood. A great walk with incredible views of the city skyline and Pacific Ocean. Natives are helpful and friendly. Many restaurants. Amazing architecture from Costa Del Este to Panama City. Old Panama with flavor of the French Quarter in New Orleans, Amador another great walk and eats. So much more.
An amazing city. I love going there to do all my shopping and eat out in great restaurants with my friends before heading to my more rural home. Walking along the cinta costera in the evenings with friends is one of my favourite activities and then going to dinner at the fish market or finding a rooftop in Casco Viejo. Shopping wise it has everything. High end malls or places to find amazing bargains. The outlet stores on via España are also great for finding a bargain. Clothes are much cheaper than in other Central American countries and you can get some amazing beauty treatments for very good prices too. The views always amaze me. The mixture of modern skyscrapers, traditional buildings, luscious green trees, the sea, the mountains and the jungle in the distance is just incredible. I will never get bored of it. I also love that you can find so much history in the city. From the original ruins of the city, the many beautiful old churches, the canal to tours on the more recent invasion and the lasting effects on local areas. And you can also get an Uber to the metropolitan park in about 15 minutes. There you can walk and see deer, monkeys, toucans, sloths, snakes etc. And you can easily get an Uber home again. Also, the metro is very clean, safe (take the same precautions as you would on any metro re- pickpockets) and easy to use! The only downside is there are quite a lot of sex workers hanging around the casinos and the more expensive hotels. Plus the cost of food is generally quite expensive compared to other countries in the region.
Panama City is awesome! There is so much to see, you really need 10 days or more to check everything out. I'd say with the pandemic , the hot spots are Casco Viejo and Amador. Everything else seems a bit slow, but still - there are plenty of place open and with improved customer service your experience should be a good one. Split your time renting a car (from Albrook Airport) and taking ride share apps. The reason for this is when you rent a car for a few days, you can see the city at your pace and see places you wouldn't normally be recommended or see while simply driving to a restaurant or mall. With your own car you can explore the Canal, Punta Paicifica, the Financial District, Via Argentina, Via Espana, Avenida Balboa and Amador. Panama City is same in most areas ,but you still need to exercise caution and vigilance when walking around, The food is on the high price side actually, don't expect any great deals in the city. As of this review, there is a curfew from 900PM to 500AM in the city, so - no clubbing late available. Many checkpoints at night to verify any authority to be out after 900PM.
Love Panana and Panana City, but got the worst posible service by The Hilton Hotel Chain. Their hotels were NOT UP TO COVID STANDARDS AND NOT ALLOWED TO OPEN, except for the Waldorf Astoria, which was dirty! Desk in room had hand & fingerprints on it. Coffee machine had not been cleaned. Old, used Coffee pod & old coffee & mold on interior of Coffee machine. We had to clean it before we could use it. Mismatched pillows & bedding. No washcloths. Toilet had been used. Very nasty.. We had a CONFIRMED BOOKING at the Hampton. No one at desk cared. Charged us either $180 or $189. for One Night. Had we known the area, we would have left, but we were tourists and area didn' look safe to walk around hauling luggage for a one month stay. Never again, Hilton or Booking.com! They knew they wrren't open. Pulled a BAIT & SWITCH on mant people!! All the taxi drivets were dropping people off at that nasty WALDORF ASTORIA. We didn't get even an apology! Just take it or leave it. Very unkind, uncaring about their customers!
Great city and rather modern. I liked that they had a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. El Caribe is the best restaurant in the city. Can't wait to visit again. I also enjoyed seeing the Panama Canal that my great-grandfather helped build!
The city is awesome. Much to see. People are very friendly. This was our 10th visit over the years. Great place to go back to. Always something new to see and do. We had to cut our vacation short this time because of the coronavirus pandemic. Lots of things were canceled. Didn't want to take any chances with maybe having our flight home canceled. We may go back again next year.
I have been returning to this hotel for over 4 years now. Personally for my needs it is in a very convenient location as well as the comfort of the rooms are according to my expectation. I love coming here. There is no breakfast served here, but there is a 24 hour restaurant 30m opposite as well as many others adjacent. A large supermarket is within 5 minutes walking distance as well as Metro Stations one block away.
The diner connected to the hotel is open 24 hours and the food is good and they are quick. The staff was really friendly and they were very diligent about keeping the room clean. It is a 20 minute walk from the historic neighborhood. I thought for the price it was a great value, my only complaint is that the internet was terrible.
Location is perfect. Adjacent to a cool bar. Beautiful suite with high ceiling and a wonderful bathroom with blue tiles. Perfect place to feel comfortable and like home in Panama City. There was no breakfast included, which did not bother us, as we went to the American Trade hotel which has amazing breakfast.
Everything was cool,,,I feel in family,I will recomended that hotel for change the rutine or owr hard life,,,is fabolous,,,only one things,,the supervisor lady needs laught with the tourist only one minute more.
The staff was hospitable and kind , the cleaning staff is very accommodating and sincere . I can leave my room open in the hotel knowing nothing will be stolen as security on all floors is very good
When we arrived the staff was super helpful. We had a room on the 27th floor, which had an incredible view on the sea and the pool. The service and breakfast was really good.
The pool and the breakfast and that I could wait on the couch in the lobby until the room became available. Water in the room great!
It s a very nice in Central Panama. Very nice rooms and very specious swimingpool.. really pleasure to be there.
Great Staff and great customer service. The rooms are clean and spacious. The rooftop pool was a real plus.
