An amazing city. I love going there to do all my shopping and eat out in great restaurants with my friends before heading to my more rural home. Walking along the cinta costera in the evenings with friends is one of my favourite activities and then going to dinner at the fish market or finding a rooftop in Casco Viejo. Shopping wise it has everything. High end malls or places to find amazing bargains. The outlet stores on via España are also great for finding a bargain. Clothes are much cheaper than in other Central American countries and you can get some amazing beauty treatments for very good prices too. The views always amaze me. The mixture of modern skyscrapers, traditional buildings, luscious green trees, the sea, the mountains and the jungle in the distance is just incredible. I will never get bored of it. I also love that you can find so much history in the city. From the original ruins of the city, the many beautiful old churches, the canal to tours on the more recent invasion and the lasting effects on local areas. And you can also get an Uber to the metropolitan park in about 15 minutes. There you can walk and see deer, monkeys, toucans, sloths, snakes etc. And you can easily get an Uber home again. Also, the metro is very clean, safe (take the same precautions as you would on any metro re- pickpockets) and easy to use! The only downside is there are quite a lot of sex workers hanging around the casinos and the more expensive hotels. Plus the cost of food is generally quite expensive compared to other countries in the region.
Panama City is awesome! There is so much to see, you really need 10 days or more to check everything out. I'd say with the pandemic , the hot spots are Casco Viejo and Amador. Everything else seems a bit slow, but still - there are plenty of place open and with improved customer service your experience should be a good one. Split your time renting a car (from Albrook Airport) and taking ride share apps. The reason for this is when you rent a car for a few days, you can see the city at your pace and see places you wouldn't normally be recommended or see while simply driving to a restaurant or mall. With your own car you can explore the Canal, Punta Paicifica, the Financial District, Via Argentina, Via Espana, Avenida Balboa and Amador. Panama City is same in most areas ,but you still need to exercise caution and vigilance when walking around, The food is on the high price side actually, don't expect any great deals in the city. As of this review, there is a curfew from 900PM to 500AM in the city, so - no clubbing late available. Many checkpoints at night to verify any authority to be out after 900PM.
Love Panana and Panana City, but got the worst posible service by The Hilton Hotel Chain. Their hotels were NOT UP TO COVID STANDARDS AND NOT ALLOWED TO OPEN, except for the Waldorf Astoria, which was dirty! Desk in room had hand & fingerprints on it. Coffee machine had not been cleaned. Old, used Coffee pod & old coffee & mold on interior of Coffee machine. We had to clean it before we could use it. Mismatched pillows & bedding. No washcloths. Toilet had been used. Very nasty.. We had a CONFIRMED BOOKING at the Hampton. No one at desk cared. Charged us either $180 or $189. for One Night. Had we known the area, we would have left, but we were tourists and area didn' look safe to walk around hauling luggage for a one month stay. Never again, Hilton or Booking.com! They knew they wrren't open. Pulled a BAIT & SWITCH on mant people!! All the taxi drivets were dropping people off at that nasty WALDORF ASTORIA. We didn't get even an apology! Just take it or leave it. Very unkind, uncaring about their customers!
Great city and rather modern. I liked that they had a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. El Caribe is the best restaurant in the city. Can't wait to visit again. I also enjoyed seeing the Panama Canal that my great-grandfather helped build!
The city is awesome. Much to see. People are very friendly. This was our 10th visit over the years. Great place to go back to. Always something new to see and do. We had to cut our vacation short this time because of the coronavirus pandemic. Lots of things were canceled. Didn't want to take any chances with maybe having our flight home canceled. We may go back again next year.
We had a great time using Panama City as a starting point for various day trips. We went on a city tour that included the Miraflores Locks, a tour of the San Blas Islands, an Eco Tour with the Embera Tribe, zip line tour, Panama City Railway tour with a stop at the San Lorenzo Fort, attended a dinner show at Tinajas, and finally a toured the Anton Valley. We spent 9 days in Panama City and filled each day to the max. Our favorites were the Eco Tour with the Embera Tribe and the San Blas Islands tour.
My husband and I stayed for two nights at Las Clementinas in a Queen Suite (no 3). The hotel has a great location, just a short walk to the American Trade Hotel (if you want to enjoy a coffee and a snack in a beautiful coffee shop, or see some Jazz at Danilo’s in the evening), Fonda Lo Que Hay (which we would wholeheartedly recommend for lunch or dinner), Pedro Mandinga’s Rum Bar (for amazing Mojitos) and too many other places to mention! We loved the stylish decor of the hotel and the rooms (our room was huge and beautiful!), and it was great to have a small private terrace with partial views of the Panama City skyline and the water. Las Clementinas has a great rooftop space with stunning views. We sat there with a drink on our last night and struggled to tear ourselves away! The staff at the hotel are helpful and friendly. We were really pleased that we chose Las Clementinas for our stay in Casco, and we will be back!
The diner connected to the hotel is open 24 hours and the food is good and they are quick. The staff was really friendly and they were very diligent about keeping the room clean. It is a 20 minute walk from the historic neighborhood. I thought for the price it was a great value, my only complaint is that the internet was terrible.
Everything was cool,,,I feel in family,I will recomended that hotel for change the rutine or owr hard life,,,is fabolous,,,only one things,,the supervisor lady needs laught with the tourist only one minute more.
Restaurant next door was good and a huge supermarket across the street,Very quiet despite its location,Many taxis going past,is a definite plus.
Very well located and easy to access. Within walking distance of the metro and close to restaurants and shopping.
It was clean. Location was great. And the staff was very helpful. Especially Katherine. Everything was good
Actually it was really nice to see how they remember my name and the service was excellent
