Not the town to visit if you like beautiful sandy beaches and luxury spas. We were here to experience the waves, the people, and the food of Peru. All of which were amazing (especially the waves🤙🏼)
Gigi and Dario were extraordinary hosts! They welcomed us so warmly and treated us like friends and family. We felt like we were at home right when we stepped in the door. The hostel has an amazing vibe. Everyone is kind and caring and respectful. It is VERY clean, spacious, and comfortable. The kitchen has everything you could need (even an espresso machine!) and the wifi was always full bars! The cats and Pepa, their cute dog, made our stay even more special. Gigi and Dario gave us recommendations for surf lessons, directions to the market, and plenty of great restaurant recommendations. Gigi even set up our transportation when we arrived in Lima. After a few months of travel we were a little burnt out and we were counting down the days until we got back home to Canada. When we got to Punta Huanchaco though we suddenly noticed we stopped counting. We stayed for 7 nights and, needless to say, we did not want to leave! Hands down the best place we have stayed in South America. Highly recommend.
There were lots of restaurants by the ocean, but workers were all around us trying to get us to go in their restaurant. They surrounded us and hounded us.We couldn't even think. There are other restaurants on other Street nearby that are just as good and much cheaper. We ate fish for breakfast at a restaurant on the ocean front and it was expensive and they gave us the tiniest piece if fish and watered down pineapple juice. I recommend looking off the strip.
Nice beach town which appeals to surfers and anyone who loves the beach. Lots of restaurants to choose from. The only thing missing is a small grocery store where tourists can buy meat which is refrigerated. Currently the only option is the local Mercado - only for the brave at heart. Trujillo is a short taxi ride away and has a few large super markets.
If you're a surfer and you don't know about Huanchaco, you're missing one of the world's great lefts. This is the cold, Humboldt/Peru current, so bring a cold-water suit so that you can enjoy some of the best waves on the South American, Pacific coast.
Cute beach town, great vegan vegetarian spot on the ends of town with a great staff, called makisha (or close to that) Nicer location for staying then Trujillo but still only a collectivo ride to Trujillo to explore and find other ruins and activities

The hostel was in a great, quiet, location, just a short walk to the beach and really close to a delicious panaderia! The family who ran the hostel were extremely welcoming and friendly. They didn’t speak English and we only have a little Spanish but managed to communicate with them. The kitchen is great and has everything you need and there is a nice outside space for you to eat and relax. I would highly recommend staying here jf you are visiting Huanchaco!

Ana, the owner, was very friendly and welcomed me with her warmth. She guided me where to I visit, how can I go there. More than my expectations. Facility are new, all furniture and their attachments are new and so clean. I strongly advise to the visitor's of Trujillo. Transportation is very easy to the City. You are sleeping with the voice of the ocean waves always. Terrace view of ocean are excellent. If you make surfing, this hostel is exactly for you.

The owners Gigi and Dario are possibly the nicest people you could meet. Super helpful. Really clean with lovely terraces to relax and meet other travelers. Comfortable bed giving me the best sleep I've had in months on the road. Booked an extra night and wish I could have stayed longer. Highly recommended and will stay again if I'm back in Huanchaco.

A nice hotel, the terrace and kitchen is lovely and the staff and owners are always very friendly and helpful. Shower is hot, bed was comfortable. Room was basic but that was all we needed and a good price. Close to nice cafes and restaurants and the beach. The buses stop just a block away.

The hotel and his aeras, in addition to be pretty nice and comfortable, is clean and quiet. Rooms are large, cuper comfortable with a large shower (hot). It's almost luxurious for pricing really honest. And Paul, the owner, and his staff, are very kind and helpfull.

Family run, not like chain hotels. Decor was very localized which was nice( not generic) Just outside of main part of town, so it was quieter, but still within easy walk.
