This small 4 star hotel is located in a secluded bay, offering private bungalows just 33 feet from the tropical waters of the Pacific Ocean. Location was great. Far from Papeete. Large bungalow, very quiet. Victor and his family were very accommodating.
Just 1.2 mi from Taravao town center, Villa Mitirapa features luxurious villas with a private plunge pool and a terrace offering wonderful views of the gardens, mountains and ocean. Villa Mitirapa exceeded expectations once again. Vaite, the owner, made my middle-of-the-night arrival very easy for me. When the previous guests lost keys to the villa that kept us locked out of the kitchen, she upgraded us to a larger villa (Hotu). It was excellent! It had its own beach with crystal clear water perfect for kayaking or just plays g all day. It's perfect for families. The very large private plunge pool is clean and refreshing. Facilities include a fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, two bathrooms with walk-in showers, two sitting areas and covered parking. An excellent French grocery store is less than 10 minutes away. If you are looking for a quiet, comfortable location for your family, or for romance, this is it! Vaite is also very helpful if you run into complications. Both times we stayed with her, she assisted with rental car and delayed baggage issues. Villa Mitirapa is about an hour drive from Papeete, but it is worth it. The location is more authentically Tahitian and less busy. I highly recommend Villa Mitirapa!
Offering a year-round outdoor pool and barbecue, Villa ManaOra is set in Taravao. Papeete is 37 mi from the property. Lovely accommodation in a garden oasis.
Known for competitive ‘Big Wave’ riding out on a distant reef, Teahupoo is at the end of the road...Papette is a far distance, so bring what you need and want. This is a place for beauty and layed back living. Shop at any of the large markets on the way, stock up and enjoy your stay. At about half way, the Maui Restaurant has a very nice lunch selection overlooking the water and beach. Actually, this was my favorite place to have a nice meal, wine or beer, a beautiful view and had friendly staff. Rental car is preferable to public transportation, but fairly pricy.
Went on an all day boat trip with teahupoo adventures it was great. we went along the coast explored caves walked to waterfalls snorkeled at a motu beautiful scenery and watched surfers at the famous surfing spot. Hanui and his wife were great guides very friendly and informative they made it such a fun trip.
Teahupoo is at the end of the long road from Papeete on Tahiti Iti. Although it takes a litle while to get there, it is quiet, out of the way. You must have a car and traffic out of Papeete maybe be heavy. We are at a couple food trucks along the way and there is a Carrefour supermarket not far in the town of Taravao.
This is the most Southern part of the two main Tahitian Islands. We didn't like the area around the airport, but just starting driving and find many hidden jewels here. Tahitian living is so relaxing and enjoyable. Love the Tahitian people and their welcoming attitude.
I wanted a quiet few days after hectic traveling and this rural area was the answer. About a1.5-2 hour drive from Papeete . Forget public transportation either get a taxi, a driver or rent a car.. It will cost between $90-$100 each way if you do not have your own vehicle..Good birding so, if you are interested don't forget the binoculars . Variina Lodge had very good dinners and a perfectly acceptable breakfast.

The property was just beautiful, high up on the edge of the mountain with sweeping views down to the water. It was lovely and quiet and private. We were in walking distance to a hotel where we had a nice meal for dinner. Breakfast at the villa was nice. Our hosts weren’t home when we arrived, but we were greeted by their daughter and family who were helpful and lovely.

Wonderful location. Very calm. Nice beach. Nice to take out the free provided SUP's to the reef over the shallow coral gardens. Teahupoo is a magical place, not just for wave surfers but also to enjoy the nature and relax. Ideal for family with kids. Very nice to take a boat tour through the lagoon.
