The view from the terrace is to die for! You enter the Guesthouse from the back side, get out on the terrace, and it's all revealed in front of you, this gigantic amphitheater of rice terraces with a backdrop of forest clad mountains, absolutely stunning. This is still rural Philippines, there's no road access. Everything got to be carried in. My room was better and more spacious than many budget rooms in the cities. Don't think the bedding is changed between each guest though, at least not the warm blanket , but I'm prepared and have everything. Clean common bathrooms with hot showers, but you have to bring everything else you need. There is no lock on the door, but I have a padlock as well. The food in the restaurant is incredibly good and made with love and care. The beers are ice cold. The set up of the terrace with all the decorations is so beautiful, I haven't got words really. There is no cellphone coverage, but paid for cheap WiFi, which can be good enough to watch a movie, or bearly working at all. And for those who are reluctant to book, because it doesn't say you can.....then, yes you can do it here. Nothing of the above is a negative thing to me as I wouldn't expect more.

Batad Countryside was an oasis during our two-night stay in Batad. It's the first hotel you'll come across as you're hiking into Batad, which is fantastic, and after walking through the whole village, I wouldn't be surprised if it's one of the nicer guesthouses available. There is a communal dining/hangout area on the second floor of the property which has absolutely stunning views of the rice terraces, and the rooms are simple but surprisingly spacious and comfortable. The shared bathroom was much larger than expected and is kept clean. The menu was surprisingly large and we enjoyed everything we tried -- make sure to try the roasted rice coffee/tea! The property staff are also extremely kind and wonderful to talk to and learn from; they made our stay a joy. As a bonus, there were two playful kittens as well!

Great spot at the end of the city towards Batad. The rooms are spacious with two outlets, comfy bed, there is a hot shower, a toilet with toilet seat, a little kitchen area for washing dishes or making some coffee, a big terrace with tables and a great view, and you can get wifi and towels. What makes this spot special is that Elma can book EVERYTHING for you, from transportation to and from your bus in Banaue, transport to and from Batad (keep in mind that Batad has no reception, so you might have to purchase wifi time to tell her a time you want to come back), busses to Manilla or Sagada, she can even help with making some plans for tracks and sights. We left our bags there, went to Batad for one night and returned to Savta's house to pickup our bags, a shower and it was just a very comfy experience. Also, the food made in her nephews bar (5 min walk) is delicious, so ask her about that if you want some good food, and entertainment while eating (karaoke, pool, terrace with view).

I truly had such a unique experience at the Homestay. I happened to be the only guest there and because of that I was lucky enough to spend time with the hosts, Bam Bino and Rachel. Both are incredibly kind people! Bam Bino was a great guide and we had a lot of good conversation! Rachel has such a warm soul of a mother and fed me the most wonderful food. Every meal made me smile. The location of this property was spectacular! You are right on the terrace that belongs to the owners of the hostels and it is stunning. The room was clean and spacious and the bed was comfortable. There was free WiFi and if you have data, the location has great signal for data usage. The hosts will take care of everything for you from transportation, planning, and site seeing. I could not recommend this homestay enough. They truly made me feel at home away from home.
