Located in Donsol in the Luzon region, Touristlink Homestay provides accommodation with free private parking. The lodge offers a terrace. I was here during typhoon Kammuri. The owner treated me like family when all the power went out and the roads were closed. She is a very friendly and generous person. Thank you so much! There was a shared bathroom and spacious bedroom in a nice house. Free cold drinking water and free hot coffee water. The owner prepared me hot coffee each morning! Getting to Donsol from Legazpi City was easy. I took a tricycle from the airport, 50 P, to the bus station. There I got a van to Donsol for 100. In Donsol it is an easy walk to the market and bus terminal, and it’s an easy tricycle ride to the whale shark tourist center. Oh, on Google Maps, if you are standing where it’s plotted and you don’t see it, it should be across the road. Thanks for your kind hospitality!
Casa Bicolandia Suites is situated in Daraga and features a terrace. Featuring a shared lounge, the 3-star hotel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom. The murals on the walls and the roof deck's design are so nice. The hallways are clean and spacious

Situated in Legazpi in the Luzon region, with Ibalong Centrum for Recreation nearby, JS3 Studio Apartments features accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. I payed 200 pesos extra per night to stay in one of the top floor rooms. The place was really good; simple and modern with everything one might need, from kitchen with fridge to good wifi. I really liked the area too in a quiet street not far from shops, cafés and restaurants. Would stay here again!
City Corner Hotel is set in Legazpi, 6 km from Cagsawa Ruins and 2.3 km from Ibalong Centrum for Recreation. With free WiFi, this 1-star inn offers a 24-hour front desk and room service. I liked the location of the establishment as it is near the city.
Was in Donsol 10 years ago and never thought our first trip could be surpassed but staying at Elysia made a huge difference to our experience. Our guide Omar was the BEST!! So lucky got to swim with these beautiful gentle giants again and saw 8 sharks! THANK YOU Omar Elysia is a beautiful resort and has a lovely laid back vibe. Gorgeous pool overlooking the sea. The staff professional, friendly and always so helpful. The restaurant serves great food and reasonably priced. Take the ATV’s and head to Mayon Volcano 🌋 do the zip-line and don’t forget to try the local cuisine. And go on the firefly boat trip.. very magical If you go to Donsol stay @ Elysia Beach Resort and ask for Omar, a very special guide. Can’t wait to return to Donsol .. Thank you everyone for making our stay so memorable!
Obviously, most people go to Donsol to swim with the whale sharks, an experience that is well worth any detours necessary. It's surreal. You can book the excursion ahead of time (I used Bicol Eco-Tours and, despite some initial confusion regarding pick-up, everything worked out well and I was perfectly satisfied) or simply do so once there (or through your accommodations, in most cases--I recommend Aguluz Homestay; Marilyn will set you up with a tour at a good rate). The town itself is small and easy to explore on foot. There is a beach but it's less for swimming and more to enjoy a sunset. There's a small but lively market and food is cheap if you're willing to eat with the locals. A more expensive but tourist-friendly place can also be found near the market. If you're staying in town (as opposed to across the bridge), the whale sharks are a tricycle ride away and these cruise town non-stop.
Whale shark interaction was an amazing experience.. we’re lucky that we had a chance to see them on our first trip and not only once but multiple sightings..the BIO was very nice and patient with us..the whole crew of the boat was really helpful.. nice people in donsol
Donsol is a very peaceful and relaxing location in the Philippines. I wanted to go somewhere that didn’t have a large amount of tourist and Donsol was perfect. Scuba diving, swimming with whale sharks in their natural environment, food, all the people I met were extremely friendly and helpful. The opportunity to get out and experience some activities as well some of their culture was great! I highly recommend Donsol and will be planning to go back again very soon!!
remote. But good facilities. Not to crowded. Eco tours arranged our excursions. Ie whale shark dive and fire fly evening tour. Great professional guides where provided. Were lucky enough to encounter 4 whale sharks on our morning trip. And plenty of fire flies to light up our night tour. Just a beautiful trip.
Donsol is the whale shark capital of the world. The season runs from Feb to end of May. The really great thing here is how responsible the tour operators are. They do not feed the whale sharks (they do in Oslob!) and only allow one boat per whale shark. We had 4 really amazing interactions over 5 days of diving. Our favourite restaurant was Roberto’s restobar next to Villa Peralta inn. They serve amazing burgers, local delights and ice cold beer. Their prices are a lot cheaper than the resorts. We used Giddy’s PADI dive centre. They are a dedicated dive boat, all the equipment is brand new and their Dive Masters are very experienced. The other tour operators ram divers, snorkellers and sightseers on to tiny boats to maximise profits.
