Was in Donsol 10 years ago and never thought our first trip could be surpassed but staying at Elysia made a huge difference to our experience. Our guide Omar was the BEST!! So lucky got to swim with these beautiful gentle giants again and saw 8 sharks! THANK YOU Omar Elysia is a beautiful resort and has a lovely laid back vibe. Gorgeous pool overlooking the sea. The staff professional, friendly and always so helpful. The restaurant serves great food and reasonably priced. Take the ATV’s and head to Mayon Volcano 🌋 do the zip-line and don’t forget to try the local cuisine. And go on the firefly boat trip.. very magical If you go to Donsol stay @ Elysia Beach Resort and ask for Omar, a very special guide. Can’t wait to return to Donsol .. Thank you everyone for making our stay so memorable!

Obviously, most people go to Donsol to swim with the whale...
Obviously, most people go to Donsol to swim with the whale sharks, an experience that is well worth any detours necessary. It's surreal. You can book the excursion ahead of time (I used Bicol Eco-Tours and, despite some initial confusion regarding pick-up, everything worked out well and I was perfectly satisfied) or simply do so once there (or through your accommodations, in most cases--I recommend Aguluz Homestay; Marilyn will set you up with a tour at a good rate). The town itself is small and easy to explore on foot. There is a beach but it's less for swimming and more to enjoy a sunset. There's a small but lively market and food is cheap if you're willing to eat with the locals. A more expensive but tourist-friendly place can also be found near the market. If you're staying in town (as opposed to across the bridge), the whale sharks are a tricycle ride away and these cruise town non-stop.

Whale shark interaction was an amazing experience.. we’re lucky that we had a chance to see them on our first trip and not only once but multiple sightings..the BIO was very nice and patient with us..the whole crew of the boat was really helpful.. nice people in donsol

Donsol is a very peaceful and relaxing location in the Philippines. I wanted to go somewhere that didn’t have a large amount of tourist and Donsol was perfect. Scuba diving, swimming with whale sharks in their natural environment, food, all the people I met were extremely friendly and helpful. The opportunity to get out and experience some activities as well some of their culture was great! I highly recommend Donsol and will be planning to go back again very soon!!

From £39 per nightConvenient location for whale shark watching, the beach where the boats disembark was right beside the hotel. The pool looked lovely although we didn't get to use it and the food in the restaurant was good too. Our room was spacious and the terrace view was beautiful. Staff were very helpful in gathering other hotel guests for us to share the whale shark boat & excursion costs with and someone escorted us to the snorkel rental and whale shark centre at 8am.

From £24 per nightRoberto and his family are super nice hosts. The place is very conveniently located in Donsol if you want to do the whale shark tour and visit the surroundings. They allowed us early check in and late check out. Roberto helped us to manage transportation and was very friendly. They have a restaurant, which is very nice. The rooms are clean and have AC and hot water. Totally recommend it!
