I always like being in Iloilo City.
I always like being in Iloilo City. As a student in the 70s; I have seen so much progress and development, however, there are areas too where structural plans (overfly) were unfinished, thereby, causing more chaos and frustrations to vehicular travellers; e.g., in Pavia as an example. I love the Ilongo people of Iloilo; somehow they have a certain gentleness in them, respectful and always willing to help. May I also mention that my favourite are the people of Guimaras. They almost have a different culture from the rest of the places I have visited around our country for the same reasons as mentioned above but just a degree higher.

Modernized and yet still retains the history and the culture. Traffic is reasonable. Food selections and restaurants are impressive. People are still the same friendly, hospitable and always have a warm smile. The beaches are great. Proud to be an Ilonggo.

There is a lot to see in this friendly, clean and enchanting city - innovative museums, heritage houses, wonderful Spanish-era Churches, American colonial era period art deco architecture as well as yummie food and a number of good modern shopping malls and quality hotels. There is also an excellent river walk (Esplanade). I would recommend taking a tour, as the historical importance and beauty of this city can be easily missed as is spread out across on number of districts. Among the museums, the ILOMOCA modern art museum deserves special mention as it is very innovative and features top local artists.MarkHong Kong - 10

Iloilo people are generally nice and friendly - and honest I think (although, like many cities, you may run into some taxi drivers who are not). There are many dusty, dirty streets. A number of highways have been build badly (shoddy materials, standards, corruption), and are unusable. Since they are taking over half of the width of a number of main roads (which should by now have been bypassed), this leads to slow traffic bottlenecks in a number of places. Such a shame.
