We loved our short stay and the city of Ponce. The location of this hotel is perfect. The room had 20’ high ceilings so it was very cool compared to outside. There were no windows which was fine for our stay and allowed us to sleep late.

Ponce architecturally was beautiful. We stayed here just for one night as we were traveling along the coast from the north coast to the west coast clockwise. I’m so glad that we visited this beautiful town but one night stay was enough for us as there is not much going on.

It is a beautiful city that looks like New Orleans.
It is a beautiful city that looks like New Orleans. Because of the hurricane, earthquake, and Covid a lot of things were damaged and not repaired or no longer in business. This includes la Guancha, the art museum, the docks at Cordona island and coffin island. A lot of the businesses in the old town were closed. So if you planning on going in the future I recommending reading the Yelp reviews and calling ahead of time.

At the time of my trip many of the buildings and businesses were closed due to renovation and rebuilding in the historic center. Very little choices for food in the area I stayed at. The city center has more stores and conveniences. Driving from the hotel I stayed at to the city center only took 10 minutes, so that was convenient.

Do not be fooled by the pretty pictures posted of the Melia hotel, while a charming old building only the public areas were updated. The hotel restaurant food was good as well as food we ate at other establishments. There are other hotels that are similar but being old buildings caution is needed in selecting them. The people of Ponce were all extremely friendly, helpful and pleasant everywhere we went, with many conversations started and advice/information given. Driving around was very easy and with maps in your cell a breeze.

Beautiful Art Deco little city.
Beautiful Art Deco little city. Town very desolated 😱 beach was beautiful just nothing to do. Food truck were closed. Museums open certain days only. You can do ponce in one day best to come on weekends when more people.
