This has to be the best place we have stayed in our whole trip. We were greeted and treated with unmatched hospitality by Elio throughout our stay. Every morning he personally delivered fresh bread and cakes from local pastelaria to the door in addition to the already fully stocked fridge with water, juices, yogurt, ham and cheese, jams, fresh fruits and other breakfast items. We were also given tours of the impressive collections of many beautiful and interesting historic artifacts from different regions of Portugal. We were also super impressed with the beautiful environment surrounded by peaceful and quiet ranch with cows and sheep and vineyard. On top of all these, the size of the apartment, the views from the back porch, the decorations, the furniture and the comfort of the rooms are all top notch. This is a truly unassuming place to unwind and bring the family to enjoy.

Incredible historical property providing a quintessential Alentejo experience. The property despite historical/old is very well kept, and you can see how much attention to detail has been put by the (very kind) property owners in every corner. The swimming pool is absolutely outstanding, merging perfectly into the Alentejo background, giving a sense of freedom and harmony.

Gracinda, the owner of Casa D'Alegrete, is fantastic and represents the best in the local hospitality industry. I highly recommend using this place as a stopover; the facilities are perfect and the atmosphere is incredible. It's difficult to rate due to its perfection. It culminates in an excellent breakfast. We will miss this place. The natural surroundings enveloped us.

Alegrete is a well-kept secret, far from tourist eyes and so typically Portuguese. The yellow and white colors suit it so well, like a glove. Its people are incredibly friendly and always greet us with a smile.
