Nice shopping great restaurants and Wonderful hotel to relax. we played games, brought our own wine and hors d’oeuvres at the table, TVs in every room absolutely fantastic should have extended more time there and less time in Porto
Aveiro is a true gem to be discovered, perfect size city, not too small and not too big, plenty attractions, great natural wonders, the Ria, the beaches, amazing hotels and local lodging options, the best restaurants with the very best of the Portuguese gastronomy, one on the best ever kept secrets (Restaurante Casa Necas) where you can experience the true flavors of Portugal, cooked with the upmost respect following the old recipes. The unique architecture found not only in the center of Aveiro, but also in Costa Nova, one of the biggest Lighthouses if to be found in Praia da Barra, Aveiro is waiting for you to become in love with it, and you will!
Wonderful one-day trip from Porto; the town is so different at night when the bus tours leave. Then it becomes peaceful and serene. Stayed at the Aveiro Palace, the most centrally located hotel in town, next to the canal. Take a 45-minute boat ride in a Moliceiro along the canal. Have a wonderful fresh fish dinner (highly recommend O Moliceiro near the park). Also visit Coasta Nova for the beach and brightly painted homes. The town will not be hidden for long. You must buy the pastries from the street vendors (the coconut and chocolate pastry is excellent). Visit the museum and churches, especially the Cathedral. (Aveiro is also home to the first Mall in Portugal; avoid it and shop from the locals).
A beautiful, calm, and safe place to hike through old streets with few people. A lot of bars and restaurants around the entire city Great channels on the Ria with wonderful landscapes for videos and photos. I suggest visiting the bars 100 Montaditos (Tapas), and the Efeitos Artísticos (for a cheaper pizza or a pasta).
Aveiro is a delightful town with varied and interesting architecture. Everywhere worth seeing is walkable (or on bike). The canals make a pleasant amenity and a boat trip is worth while for a first impression and information (choose the boats near the fish market - they are smaller and less crammed than others). Plenty of eateries, but the food is filling in the Portuguese manner rather than exotic unless you are prepared to pay top whack, eg at the Fish Market Restaurant. Very easy access to the beaches via the A25 straight into Barra. The beaches there are stunning and the water clear and clean. The town itself is a bit of a resort, with little character, apart from the lighthouse. Train to Porto is the best option with derisory fares, saving on driving and traffic and parking issues when you get there.
1 day might be enough to see Aveiro. I only spent half a day to make a boattrip 45´ and sightseeing the centre. I didn´t see any museums because I doubt if they can compete with the great museums in Porto or Lisboa. 2nd day I made an 60km bike trip on my own (paid 15 euro with a very good rental bike from Biciclaria). The trip went alongside the harbour and further south to Casa Nova and some 10k beyond. Beautiful houses seaside, sand dunes and wild nature. So Aveiro is at most 1 day worth visiting but around Aveiro their are nice beaches, villages and nature.
Perfect place to visit Aveiro, very convenient to everywhere, 10-15min walk to the train station, for parking, a secured car park space for 8eur a day across the road provided by the hotel (underground of a shopping centre). Charming hotel, clean and comfy room, good breakfast. Staff are really friendly and welcoming, always available to assist. We had a pleasant stay, definitely the place to stay next time we're back in Aveiro.

We were impressed with all the details. The building it's brand new, super clean. The apartment size was perfect with kitchen all equipped. All the details done with an extremely careful touch. The mattress was the most comfortable possible. I did travel a lot and assure that it's comparable with a 5 star hotel. Definitely I do recommend for all the aspects, good and quite location. It was everything perfect.

We loved our stay at Hotel das Salinas. We only stayed one night, if we have a chance to go back to Aveiro, we will go back to this hotel. The staff was great and very helpful when we had questions on what to do, where to go running, where to eat and the likes. Loved it.

A short walk from center of Aveiro. The room and bathroom was really clean and the staff were really friendly. We also booked a boat tour from the front desk as there is a small discount compared to buying tickets from the book tour groups at the canals.

Although we were a little skeptical at first as outside of Aveiro in a suburb parts of which seem a little run down, the Quinta is an oasis. The owner and his wife were away and we were looked after by the parents who were so incredibly helpful, more especially as we became ill and had to leave earlier than anticipated. Breakfast was superb, in a lovely room overlooking the pool and lawn. We met the owners who arrived back the day we left. There is a very good restaurant about 5 minutes walk away that we visited three times.
The hotel was perfectly located, just parked the car and walked everywhere. The staff went out of their way to assist us. The breakfast was perfect and the barman even made me a latte in the evening.
