Beautiful old town with some lovely restaurants. Public transport was poor and a lot of businesses would only accept cash. I found this inconvenient and risky. There was a lot of development happening in close proximity to the old town. I'm not sure this is adding to the quality of the district. I think town planners should review. I did not have a bad meal in Lagos old town and it was extremely reasonably priced. The shopping was delightful, beautiful colours and really quirky. No antisocial behaviour was evident. The taxi service was sparce. It needs to improve.
On of the best spot in our whole Algarve trip , from Faro to Sagres, we have visited about 10 cities/towns. Lagos just meets with our expectation, easy to walk and explore the old town, plenty of restaurants and cafés for you to choose. Nice beaches, and some unique and cute shops. Praia do Camilo is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Algarve. It is best known for its long staircase. You can easily pass this beach on your way to the famous Ponta da Piedade near the town of Lagos. But Praia do Camilo is a pearl worth visiting. Go there late in the afternoon before sunset, it is so relaxing and has a couple of spots to take beautiful photos.
Lagos is a really pretty town with cobbled streets but it is a thriving commercial centre with many shops, restaurants (with outside tables), ice cream parlours and cocktail bars. It has a lot of history including an old fort, town walls and a lovely harbour area. There is also a busy marina. The town has both long sandy beaches and the iconic coves that the Algarve is famous for.
The trip to rocks of Point da Piedade was fantastic! The Fado in Vadio cafe was very good! It’s happy citi and parties all the time, Baking goods - just “ to die for”! Leather and cork shops, Fish market! Oh ! A lot of restaurants with good food. Service at good quality.
Beautiful beaches, many many water and other adventures activities, amazing food (did not have a single bad meal in Lagos), very friendly people, live music everywhere, massages, many many wines to choose from, friendly on your pocket and a very happy vibe.
Great location for mature adults and children are well catered for with the fabulous beach and playgrounds.....we love Lagos because the nightlife is centered around dining out in wonderful restaurants and not the noisy nightclubs and boozy tourists that are the norm in the rest of the Algarve tourist areas. Having travelled all over the Algarve, we have found Lagos and all the friendly residents and restaurant/bar staff everywhere as our favourite holiday destination.
"Please, Baby…for Lagos i want a 5-Star Hotel with good Service„ That‘s what I told my Wife x-times bevor we start our Round-Trip through Portugal. She ignored me and said that wie have to support the People there. That was the best decision. The Hosts Sonia and Jose were like a private Concierge and extremly helpful and very, very friendly. This little House have really everything you need plus a very comfortable Bed, fantastic Shower and a nice kitchen. Book this and you won’t regret it. And, of course, listen to your Wife!
Breakfast: this was the best breakfast I have eaten in any hotel in my 20 years extensive travel around the world :-) It's a real gourmet breakfast (with a big variety of quality food: pies, salads, sandwiches, cakes, etc) made fresh form scratch every day. It's amazing that this wonderful breakfast is not prominently present in the hotel's description in the various booking programs! The kitchen & breakfast team is also amazing: very efficient, synchronized, friendly.
The hotel delivers on all our expectations, located close to restaurants, bars and cafes. It looks out over the marina which is a great view while enjoying a glass of wine on the balcony. The friendliness of all the hotel staff is just what we were looking for. The pool is small but adequate for a swim and cool off while on the sundeck which is well equipped with loungers and comfy chairs. Breakfast in continental style with cereal, fruit, cold meats, scrambled eggs and coffee/tea.
This place was absolutely fantastic and by far the best Airbnb we’ve been to. Not only is everything immaculately clean, modern and just gorgeous but Fernando goes above and beyond to make your stay perfect. The included breakfast in the morning topped everything off, it was very delicious and the ocean views from the terrace are just so beautiful!! He also gave us some really great suggestions for our stay in Lagos which was very helpful! Will be staying here again when we come back!
Excellent hotel all round, great breakfast selections with real fruit, cheese, light meats, pastries and fresh eggs. Multiple pool areas, beach within a 2 minute walk, spotless clean rooms. Our room had a fridge, stove and washer. Staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. Beds were very comfortable and clean. 5 minute taxi ride to old town with lots of shopping and restaurants. Marina area was enjoyable to walk around...felt safe in all areas of Lagos. Beautiful town.
Everything! The quinta is in a great location, in very peaceful area but also close to Lagos. The rooms were great, the bed was super comfortable and we had a really pleasant experience. The outdoor area is also very cute and nice to have a meal/drink. On top of that, Jolanda and Damien were fantastic hosts, making sure that we have everything needed to have a good stay. Thanks for giving us some fresh eggs and veggies, they were so delicious!! 5 stars!
Its a resort type of hotel in the middle of the city, which is amazing. Among many hotels who don’t accept dogs, The Tivoli Lagos accepts, and i do appreciate it. I think a hotel can always accept little dogs if it is prepared for that. Ive brought my little yorkshire and was so happy to see a big bed for him that the hotel provided. We’ve had such a great time. The breakfast is also great. I’ll definitely recommend.
Staying at Casa Mãe is like stepping inside an inspiring travel magazine. The premises and buildings are beautiful, a careful mix of the now renovated original buildings (including part of Lagos' city walls) and the best of Portuguese design. The staff is extremely helpful, always available to make your stay better. Highly recommend the hotel's restaurant.
Lagos
Extremely well located, inside the walled old town. Good air-conditioning system. All the great restaurants from Lagos are a short walk away (5-15 mins walking). With only 3 floors, the hotel has very few guests at any given time, which feels like an authentic shared house. The orange juice from the breakfast was the best ever - extremely freshly squeezed!
Lagos
The staff at Casa Creativa were all extremely inviting and provided excellent assistance with finding activities to do in Lagos. The breakfast was excellent and they were very accommodating to any food allergies. I will highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Lagos in the future and would certainly stay there again.
Lagos
Super clean and comfortable. The location across from the marina and close to the historic center is superb. Bonuses - a huge wrap around terrace, underground parking, and a washing machine. Host Gil was responsive immediately, kind, and helpful. We loved our time in Lagos and this apartment.
Lagos
I've been to Lagos many times, but this place is absolutely fantastic. Nice and quiet and only 3 min by car to Lagos Marina. The place is very exotic with palm trees and small terraces. The host was the best. I'll be back soon :)
Lagos
Gorgeous boutique hotel. Central location right in the old town of Lagos. Property is newly opened and everything is luxurious and comfortable. Even better than photos. Breakfast offering is outstanding for such a small hotel.
Spacious, modern, extremely comfortable apartment in awesome location in the historical center of Lagos, just steps away from restaurants, shops, historical attractions, and marina. Great value.
Lagos
The location was best in Lagos. At foothills of the rocky beach. The market was at walkable distance and cabs from station took 5 mins
The property is so cozy! The hotel has about 16 rooms so it’s an intimate setting. I wish we had more time to spend in Lagos!
The location on the beach was great. It’s restaurant on top floor was very good and views were wonderful.
Amazing breakfast, beautiful hotel, great and very clean pool. Best location in Lagos.
Pool, room and service. After a little issue in our room they handled it amazing and because of this service we enjoyed an even better stay in Lagos. Thankful!
