FAQs about hotels in Lagos

History and Sandy Algarve Beaches

With a long and rich history, Lagos is nowadays a famous beach resort of the sunny Portuguese region of Algarve. Including wide sandy beaches and quiet coves enclosed by ochre cliffs, it also offers a lively city centre with one of the best mixes between history and modernity in the region.

King Henry the Navigator chose it as a base for his trips of discovery during the 15th century, and later on, it became the residence of the Algarve governors. The Old Town is circled by medieval walls, typical narrow streets, historic buildings and charming squares. B&B’s and hotels in Lagos’s historic centre allow you to enjoy these picturesque surroundings.

Apart from being an important centre for sailing, the city has amazing beaches, like Meia Praia or Praia da Dona Ana. Resorts and hotels on Lagos’ beaches are the perfect choice for sun lovers, while the hotels near the modern Lagos Marina are popular, as they are both close to the centre and the railway station.

The city is 90 km from Faro Airport, and 24 km from Portimão. Check out the Lagos hotels deals on Booking.com before travelling!

It is a small, picturesque town with a relaxing vibes, beautiful sunset and a nice cliff alongside beach. My complaing is that it has become a boisterous party place and attracts loud groups of youngsters. We didnt know that. So if you plan to go here, pls know it wont be a small quiet town.

    Beautiful place.

Beautiful place. Lots to do, lots of beaches which are all lovely. Plenty of days out available and lots of boat trips ie, dolphin watching, kayaking. The Marina is a great place to sit and watch the world go by with good restaurants and bars. The town centre has a real mix of shops and again plenty of places to eat and drink.

Far too touristy with some base elements. Ok if you're young and carefree, but for the discerning visitor the brashness is too much. That said, I suspect that when the town is quieter, it's better qualities would stand out and be easier to discern.

Lagos is a beautiful old city with modern hotels and apartments outside the walled centre. There are plenty of beaches and experiences to be seen and a fabulous board walk on both Meia Praia and Camilo . Public transport is great with buses to most locations. The blue route links from Poto da Mos via Donna Anna to Meia Praia . There is an abundance of good quality restaurants , go for the more traditional small ones for authentic food. The marina has a good vibe and some nice bars serving food. The zoo is worth a visit and is on a bus route Ther is something for all ages in Lagos and the surrounding area

The property is fabulous- in a perfect Lagos location - easy access to beaches, walks, old town, sights and stores. The rooftop area offers lovely views of the town and the ocean. It also has kitchen facilities for coffee, wine and snacks. Super clean, the rooms are large and well equipped. Marek and Isabel, our hosts, shared their extensive knowledge about Lagos - the best things to do and places to go and avoid. Their suggestions made this a memorable trip for us. Thank you, Vielen Danke and Obrigada!

the room was quite spacious and kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. The pool was wonderful and the beach was just a short walk away. The property is a 3 min drive away from Lagos city centre. The closest grocery store was 2 minutes drive away. There is a small cafeteria in the hotel by the pool and some restaurants at walking distance. We stayed for 8 nights and the room was cleaned each day. The reception staff was helpful and courteous. The stay was quite comfortable and relaxing.

Carvi Beach Hotel is on the beautiful Praia da Dona Ana beach, so it is a great location. It's about a 15 minute walk to the city center a little longer to the marina if you want to take any type of boat cruise, so we took a taxi. Buffet breakfast is included, lots of variety. The hotel restaurant has the best views. Rooftop pool was nice, supplied chairs and umbrellas. Overall room was good, had a balcony for fresh air which was nice.

The hotel has good facilities, rooms were adequate and clean, got a room with a good view to the pool. Check-in didn't take long, staff was friendly, breakfast was good for a 4 star hotel. Pooling area was not too crowded, no problem in finding a place, mostly families around, no issues with noise. It is ideally located in Lagos, a short 5m walk to town and 10m walk from Maria Luisa beach. There's a Spar around, plenty of restaurants.

We loved everything! The location was excellent for exploring Lagos. Everything: the marina, the beach, shops, and restaurants was within easy reach. Our room was beautiful. The food offered by the hotel first class. And last, but far from least, all the ladies who looked after the reception area were super, super friendly and helpful. Everything here is great. The pools and spa area are very nice and relaxing. The location next to Porto de Mos beach is amazing. Just a quick walk down the hill and you are at the beach. There are two great restaurants on the beach you should also check out, Campimar and Antonios. The condos are very well built, and are comfortable. Would definitely stay here again when in Lagos.
