The hotel was located very close to the meeting spot for our boat tour and there were several restaurants near by. We arrived by bus and the bus station was directly behind the hotel (no disturbance from the noise there).

We loved this hotel. It was close to downtown. Quiet. And the parking situation at the hotel was the best we have had. The pool was open, and everyone was so helpful.

With a long and rich history, Lagos is nowadays a famous beach resort of the sunny Portuguese region of Algarve. Including wide sandy beaches and quiet coves enclosed by ochre cliffs, it also offers a lively city centre with one of the best mixes between history and modernity in the region.
King Henry the Navigator chose it as a base for his trips of discovery during the 15th century, and later on, it became the residence of the Algarve governors. The Old Town is circled by medieval walls, typical narrow streets, historic buildings and charming squares. B&B’s and hotels in Lagos’s historic centre allow you to enjoy these picturesque surroundings.
Apart from being an important centre for sailing, the city has amazing beaches, like Meia Praia or Praia da Dona Ana. Resorts and hotels on Lagos’ beaches are the perfect choice for sun lovers, while the hotels near the modern Lagos Marina are popular, as they are both close to the centre and the railway station.
The city is 90 km from Faro Airport, and 24 km from Portimão. Check out the Lagos hotels deals on Booking.com before travelling!
Initially we had a bad experience with another accommodation...
Initially we had a bad experience with another accommodation up the hill but once we moved to Casa Augusta right in the heart of old town everything improved. It’s a busy crowded tourist town but charming all the same. Lots to do culturally, many restaurants and shops to choose from in old town all within walking distance.
The cliff top walk out to the lighthouse along 7-8 beaches is also great exercise and very scenic. It takes about 1 hr if you go up and down stairs to visit a couple of beaches or less if you just walk across the top. Return more quickly via the main road for a different suburban outlook. Definitely stay in old town and avoid other areas as they are up big long hills and then you constantly have to walk up and down hills for restaurants shopping sightseeing etc.

Definitely stay down near the old town where the restaurants shopping and cultural activities are.
It’s very hilly outside of old town. There is a great 1 hr walk along the cliff tops of the various beaches. Being the Atlantic the water is very cold 18 degrees.
It’s a touristy town with loads of visitors even in October.

Lagos is nice place with lots of bars, restaurants and shops...
Lagos is nice place with lots of bars, restaurants and shops. Our visit was in late Sept so definitely not peak season but still it was busy enough with needing reservations for any good restaurants. The beaches are really the main draw here as they are very beautiful. We pretty much stayed at our hotel and the close beach and would go into the town at night for drinks, dinner and people watching. Lots of people from all over so makes it interesting. We did a boat tour to the Bengil Caves and coastline and while we did not see any dolphins the coastline was gorgeous. It is close drive to visit Sagres and Cabo Vicente which I would recommend.

Lagos is very safe. We've been coming here over 10years now.
Lagos is very safe. We've been coming here over 10years now. It's not overdeveloped and it's a hassle free resort. Plenty of history with some lovely beaches. It's geared towards young families and couples. Definitely not for groups as nightlife is tame enough. The streets are literally empty at 1am! Thoroughly recommend The Oasis on the Marina for breakfast. Great experience of dining there too along with Italia, Delhi Dharbar, Olivia and Beer & Co. Mc Cabes and The Star Bar two lovely pubs worth a visit especially The Star Bar for cocktails!

Lagos is a tourist trap.
Lagos is a tourist trap. I stayed to the center in a terrible Air B&B…watch out for those, apparently there are many Air B&B places that do not care about the quality of your stay, old run down disgusting, no quality control. We left and found a beautiful place through Booking.com on the outskirts of the very busy city of Lagos, thankfully! Once we were there it was lovely, but for me the city itself felt a bit sketchy, I will not return….unless it is to stay at Palmares :)so beautiful!

A MUST SEE but beware the throngs of tourists.
A MUST SEE but beware the throngs of tourists. Spectacular beaches, great food scene and lively nightlife. Very popular with Brits, Americans and Germans. Expect to have to book dinner reservations and deal with crowds.

This was the best BnB I have ever stayed in. The host went above and beyond to make her guests comfortable and provided information of Lagos and the surrounding area that was personalized to each guests interests. The breakfast each morning was amazing, healthy and better quality than you would find in any hotel. Location is very close to the downtown city. Garden and pool area is perfect for lounging. We couldn't have chose a better place for vacation, I only wish it was longer!
Excellent quality/price ratio. The best breakfast in all our trip to Portugal, so many and so fresh products. Several salted and sweet home made cakes. everything was so delicious! Very clean property.
Typical southern Portuguese residence, very charming with all services and commodities and well located, walking distance to down town Lagos.
All services are those of a 5 star hotel.
I've never felt so welcomed in an accommodation before, even at 5 stars hotels. Nadia does the absolute best in order to make every guest at home. She was so lovely, helpful, kind and generous. The hostel is simple but full with little treats and so much thought regarding every single thing. I highly recommend, and really enjoyed my stay.
Loved the whole area of our hotel - Very pretty.
It was the best hotel in the area of Lagos!
Beautiful garden and pool to wake up to.
The cute cat that greeted us every morning to breakfast!
The staff are so lovely and helpful
We loved everything about it. It was far better than any 5 star hotel we stayed in so far in Europe. The rooms were really exceptional with the décor and the amenities. the staff were very helpful and accommodating.
