Its a lovely small coastal town, but parking is a massive problem, with many people parking on the pedestrian path, and yellow lines. If I was visiting for the day, I would have gone elsewhere, but as a guest staying for 3 days, we spent many hours trying to park legally. Beware you can be clamped despite no road markings or signs, or restricted access.

Very nice small town with a nice beach and good restaurants. There are 2 levadas to walk. There is a small shop in town where you can find everything you need. Ponta do Sol in itself is nothing really special.
Ponta do Sol in itself is nothing really special. But given the fact that you have rental car you can just discover the whole island. It is highly recommended to visit Calheta, there is a very nice harbour and little boulevard. Must go there is restaurant Manifattura Di Gelato. Another very good restaurant is La Vaca Negra in Funchal; best steaks ever!

Such a pretty little place - lots of winding streets - many pedestrian only, and good restaurants too. We mostly ate at the hotel, but also at a restaurant called Caprice which was fantastic and great value for money. We were delighted to find lots of interesting sculpture around the place which was fascinating, and the people were all very chilled and welcoming. The pavements are mostly cobbled, and of course there are lots of hills so challenging if your mobility is reduced as my parent's was - didn't stop us though - we just took our time and there were regular places to sit and rest along the way.

The comprehensive breakfast each morning was great. Proximity to the Cascata dos Anjos waterfall and Ponta do Sol is great. The hotel manager was very accommodating and keen to help, and the rooms are cleaned super quickly it's usually already made by the time we finish breakfast. Hotel is quiet so it feels very peaceful and spacious. Hot tub by pool is lovely for sun set.

Quiet and peaceful. the villa is equipped with literally everything, even a clothes dryer, grill or cheese grater :) you will not lack anything. great location - ponta do sol is a great starting point in every direction of the island. it looks even better in real life than in the pictures. very comfortable beds. the host quickly answered every question we had. we highly recommend it for an unforgettable stay

A car is highly recommended, because although the #4 bus goes past the house, we could not work out the route. Alternatively a taxi is €8 from Ponta do Sol. The Levada Nova is only a couple of minutes away by car, and the walk along the valley with views across to the better known levada walks is spectacular.

Rooms were very spacious, sun terrace on the roof, gym, sauna and swimming pool free of charge. Free underground parking, although spaces were limited. The hotel is located on the sunny coast (rain is rare), there are few restaurants and cafes around. Nice and quiet place.
