Blending traditional and modern design, the 4-star Octant Santiago is located on a hilltop overlooking the castle of Santiago do Cacém. Breakfast buffet was excellent and sumptuous. Bread freshly baked, eggs cooked to order, smoked salmon.etc we also had lunch there, pizza freshly baked in the oven + mixed green salad. good portion, good price. Manager or Director Carla was very kind to offer us a small red wine bottle +some cheese + sample honey for our special occasion, 29th wedding anniversary. It was a memorable stay for us.

Hotel Rural Monte Xisto is an excellent rural hotel for a getaway. If you seek to be isolated and far from the "confusion" that big cities are, this is the place. Before going into any details, we were extremely well received by João and his daughter Marta. They were fantastic hosts to us, and were very patient with our small child. :) The rooms are in specific buildings on the other side of the main building, and they are very spacious with very good conditions. They all have WIFI and enough wall sockets for a multitude of devices if you require. They also have a minibar, and complementary water. Also every room has a balcony with chairs, table, clothes hanger and a suspended chair, and it is excellent for relaxation if you like to read for example. Regarding food, the hotel serves breakfast with good enough variety given the "small size", and the staff will provide anything else you might require that is not immediately in sight. The hotel has a small offer for lunch (enough for eating without going out, but with few choices), but the more interesting part is the dinner. The owner João is the "chef" for dinners and he is an excellent cook. You do not chose your meal, João will provide a meal given what local products were purchased that day. Do not fear because the food is excellent at dinner. If you have any dietary restrictions/preferences just inform beforehand, and the food will match your needs. Also the portions will be large for even the most hungry guest. The hotel has 2 pools, they are not heated but they are very pretty and well suited for your leisure. One adults pool and a children pool. The hotel also has a Gym which is surprisingly well stocked for your needs, and also has a paddle field and a small fitness circuit with some "weight operated" machines for your leisure. As a final note: This is a rural hotel, so there are many animals and insects so expect them (I like them).

The place was beautiful the people was so welcoming... House was just so comfortable and clean lots of space enjoyed my stay and will definitely be going back..
