Overlooking the valleys of São Vicente, this restored 18th-century manor house features a garden with a heated swimming pool. We were to spend 2 nights at the Estalagem and eventually spent 4. The hotel offers comfortable rooms for a very decent price and is located in an extremely scenic environment. The garden is lovely and this is an ideal place to relax and discover a region of Madeira that is less touristy than Funchal. All the staff were friendly but actually the true treasure of this hotel is the chef, João, who is an amazing cook. We dined at the hotel restaurant every night and João prepared us delightful dishes, both fish and meat, using very fresh ingredients. A very good adviser for wines too, he gave us a lot of good tips about Madeira and we truly appreciated his kindness and attentiveness of every moment. Making such nice people is really a rare experience. We look forward to coming back soon!

Located in a restored 18th-century home, Casa Da Piedade offers a lounge with fireplace, outdoor garden with barbecue and brightly decorated rooms. Wi-Fi and parking are free. The room was spacious and comfortable with the needed amenities. The view from the room is beautiful of the mountains, the swimming pool and the groomed yard. The staff were very friendly and polite. Ricardo the owner was very helpful and did not make an issue when I arrived for check-in very late at 21:30 as I got carried away on the magnificent walk... The location is optimal for exploring the various attractions in Madeira for up to ~60 min. in any direction.

Solar da Bica is a cozy and tranquil retreat. This comfortable guest house faces the mountains and has green natural surroundings. The Solar features accommodations in rooms and an apartment. The breakfast, the garden tour by the owner, the juice she made from the garden, the views incredible!! Staff great.
Featuring free bikes, shared lounge and views of sea, The Waves is located in São Vicente, one mile from Sao Vicente Beach. Everything!!! This hostel is a gem, so far this is my best hostel ever! You got a privite room, plenty space to store belongings, and everything is soooo nicely decorated! Very cozy there, giant living room to chill, great communal kitchen to cook, hot shower and sound of waves, what can be better!!! Internet also good there. Very charming people is working there☺️. Location is not central, so at night you can hear only sounds of ocean. Great place for swimming is just two steps away, and some restaurants nearby. Definitely will come here again 😌
Offering a barbecue and terrace, Gardens Guest House is set in São Vicente, 2625 feet from Volcanic caves of São Vicente. You will find a coffee machine in the hostel. Beautiful and tranquil place, with a wonderful view of the hills, and ocean (in the distance), well equiped kitchen, very nice hosts. If you like to have relax holidays this is a good place for you. Good restaurants in the city and by the sea.
On average, 3-star hotels in São Vicente cost $322 per night, and 4-star hotels in São Vicente are $324 per night. If you're looking for something really special, a 5-star hotel in São Vicente can be found for $0 per night, on average (based on Booking.com prices).
The village is absolutely beautiful. Ideal for walking around. The views are just stunning, especially if you walk on top of the hill where the small chapel is. It's just difficult to get there if you want to use public transport. Buses there are a nightmare. We were lucky enough that our previous host took us there from Funchal. Otherwise we would struggle as nobody whom we asked in Funchal knew where the bus stop was for bus going to Sao Vicente.
Sao Vicente is a small town on the north side of Madeira, rather less well known than most of the south side of the island. It has an interesting old church, a garden of indigenous trees (for plant enthusiasts), volcanic caves and interpretation centre (for geology enthusiasts) and several good restaurants (for foodies!). From Sao Vicente you can travel along the north coast; westwards to Seixal and Porto Moniz, eastwards to Boaventura, Sao Jorge or Santana. Drive inland to Encumeada, the starting point for several superb hikes, or drive up to the Paul da Serra moorlands. The roads around here are in good condition and easy to drive, there's not much traffic and the local drivers are quite considerate. I've visited this area at various times of the year, for hiking and plant spotting, and there's always something new. Food and drink? No problems! There is everything from simple roadside bars where you can share your coffee break with the locals to top quality restaurants serving authentic Madeiran dishes.
We saw very little of Sao Vicente on our short trip, since we were mainly occupied either seeing the sights in Funchal or else visiting along the coast to the East and West, rather than actually digging deeper locally. No time for a meal out, even though the hotel dining room was no good in the evenings. We've done a lot of caves before, so did not want to committ to that. So all we did was drive through it about six times without stopping to visit! Next time maybe, as it looks a good, if small, place to see more of.
Spend some time in the small town, but the real advantage of Sao Vicente's location is the remote rentals and surrounding levadas. Caves are impressive but quite overcrowded with tourists - the best parts of this islands are seen on your own. Be friendly and kind in greeting locals; expect to learn some Portuguese beforehand if you want to be welcomed. Buses are infrequent and not very reliable, advance taxis (24hr beforehand) are essential if not driving. The Lavrador restaurant was by far the best I tried in my 10 days on the island!
Nice and quiet town, not too many turists here. It is very nice just to watch the ocean, walk in the park, see the flowers, go to the rock chapel. There is almost anything that is needed, like supermarket, pharmacy, many restaurants. Restaurant Caravelle is just amazing!
Sao Vicente is a lovely village and you can make several great walks. It always will be pleasant to have a car to do so.\ At the seaside there are very nice locations to have a meal or a drink .The volcanic caves I have visiting were a wonderful unique experience
This place is paradise. Beautiful house surrounded with mountains and with amazing view. you can enjoy your morning coffee on your own little balcony or spacious terrace right next to building. For breakfast they serve also fruits from garden- so delicious! At check-out they gave me little souvenir, post card with discount for the next stay and their local tea :) Thank you! Its better if you travel by car, it is 7 min drive to Sao Vicente beach, 25 min drive o South of Madeira.
Located in a nice quiet part of the island just outside Sao Vicente centre with easy access to everything as we had rented a car. Roberto the owner was fabulous and even gave us some lovely home made cooking on Sunday, and Clarissa, his neighbour was on hand to support us for anything we needed and gave us some fruits grown in her garden (Thankyou) It is a beautiful villa with a lovely pool and gardens and the local restaurant serves fresh fish daily - only a 5min walk away.
This is one of the best places I have ever stayed. Everything is perfect. The space is beautiful and comfortable, the hosts are extremely friendly and kind and the location is amazing... This is definitely a 5 star place. It is possible to hear the waves of the sea even from the rooms! On the way to the village, there is a beautiful promenade, which allows you to walk next to the sea. This is a place that makes you feel what it's like to live on an island...
The little house is perfect for a stay in Sao Vicente. Is has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We highly appreciated that it had a washing machine. We were greeted with a bottle of Madeira wine and home made cookies, very thoughtful. Janine who administrates the property, is a wonderful person, very attentive and communicative. She gave us lots of info on where to eat, drink, trekking spots and so much more.
We stayed here for 2 weeks with a couple of friends and our 8 month old son. It was just perfect. Super clean and fresh house. The location is great, Sao Vicente is beautiful and peaceful, not so many tourists or partying - which was perfect for us. There’s plenty of beautiful hikes nearby and also a supermarket which was great. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Madeira! Thank you. Hanna
The house has a great location by the church in the quite part of Sao Vicente. The host was very friendly and helpful, rooms were nicely renovated, everything was clean and corresponded to the pictures 100%. There is a nice local cafe by the nearby supermarket which serves nice breakfast, the location of the house is perfect for making trips around the island (if you have a car).
The garden was beautiful with lots of nice seats, and a door directly from the room to the garden. The breakfast was extensive with a lot of choices, and the personnel was in general really friendly. The room, and the whole hotel, was also nicely arranged and decorated.
Location was perfect, communication with the house owner was pleasant, nice surrounding (supermarket, nature and gas station), view to the village. Nice fully equipped kitchen (permanently available) and the hall with the fire place.
Breakfast was pretty good, lot of options, fresh bread, and nicely cooked eggs. The view was incredible, the hotel is located on the hills just above Sao Vicente and overlooks the mountains and of course the shore line.
It’s the perfect place in São Vicente. Super clean, kitchen was fully equipped, which I really loved. Felipe was in Touch with me via WhatsApp to make sure everything was good. Cute town, very quiet, good hiking nearby
The guest house is located in the beautiful village of Sao Vincente. The view from the balcony was spectacular, birds singing from the early morning, staff extremely helpful, accommodating and warm. Highly recommended.
located in a beautiful and peacefull surrounding with the sound of chickens and cows. Leonel, the owner, is kind and passionate about his hotel and homemade wines. we loved our stay.
Great location on the coast of the ocean and only short walk from the centre of the town, very clean and modern hotel, friendly staff. Excellent value for money.
