Located in a restored 18th-century home, Casa Da Piedade offers a lounge with fireplace, outdoor garden with barbecue and brightly decorated rooms. Wi-Fi and parking are free. The room was spacious and comfortable with the needed amenities. The view from the room is beautiful of the mountains, the swimming pool and the groomed yard. The staff were very friendly and polite. Ricardo the owner was very helpful and did not make an issue when I arrived for check-in very late at 21:30 as I got carried away on the magnificent walk... The location is optimal for exploring the various attractions in Madeira for up to ~60 min. in any direction.

Everything was perfect and better than expected. Lovely "host" who offered us homemade wine for free and was such a lovely person. The view at the Waves is absolutely amazing. Holidays Madeira is 18th century house located in São Vicente's city center, northern shore of the Madeira Island. The São Vicente Chapel is 2789 feet away. Free WiFi access is available. The location is fine, a little bit of noise from the cars on the road alongside the building, but you can close the shutter. The parking is 50 m from the appartment. Good toilet and shower. Nice restaurants on the near beach 1,5 km away. Fréderic was very helpful, thank you!

Helena is very kind helpful and welcoming and made our stay very comfortable. The area is beautiful, the house is in the perfect location to explore the north part/north west, and spend time in the capital city. House has huge en-suite rooms and a great size well-equipped kitchen, living room, and terrace with outdoor furniture. We had dinner every day in Sao Vicente (5 min by car) Restaurante Calamar. Excellent food, and we were happy with everything we tried. I am sure will go and stay here next time when we'll visit the island.
Sao Vicente is a great base for exploring the north of the island without really having a huge amount going for it per se (nothing negative). But Seixal is only a few km away and is my favourite village on the island! Sao Vicente does have a few ok restaurants by the sea but I had better meal experiences elsewhere during my trip. The local caves are closed for the next year or so.
The village is absolutely beautiful. Ideal for walking around. The views are just stunning, especially if you walk on top of the hill where the small chapel is. It's just difficult to get there if you want to use public transport. Buses there are a nightmare. We were lucky enough that our previous host took us there from Funchal. Otherwise we would struggle as nobody whom we asked in Funchal knew where the bus stop was for bus going to Sao Vicente.
Sao Vicente is a small town on the north side of Madeira, rather less well known than most of the south side of the island. It has an interesting old church, a garden of indigenous trees (for plant enthusiasts), volcanic caves and interpretation centre (for geology enthusiasts) and several good restaurants (for foodies!). From Sao Vicente you can travel along the north coast; westwards to Seixal and Porto Moniz, eastwards to Boaventura, Sao Jorge or Santana. Drive inland to Encumeada, the starting point for several superb hikes, or drive up to the Paul da Serra moorlands. The roads around here are in good condition and easy to drive, there's not much traffic and the local drivers are quite considerate. I've visited this area at various times of the year, for hiking and plant spotting, and there's always something new. Food and drink? No problems! There is everything from simple roadside bars where you can share your coffee break with the locals to top quality restaurants serving authentic Madeiran dishes.
We saw very little of Sao Vicente on our short trip, since we were mainly occupied either seeing the sights in Funchal or else visiting along the coast to the East and West, rather than actually digging deeper locally. No time for a meal out, even though the hotel dining room was no good in the evenings. We've done a lot of caves before, so did not want to committ to that. So all we did was drive through it about six times without stopping to visit! Next time maybe, as it looks a good, if small, place to see more of.
Spend some time in the small town, but the real advantage of Sao Vicente's location is the remote rentals and surrounding levadas. Caves are impressive but quite overcrowded with tourists - the best parts of this islands are seen on your own. Be friendly and kind in greeting locals; expect to learn some Portuguese beforehand if you want to be welcomed. Buses are infrequent and not very reliable, advance taxis (24hr beforehand) are essential if not driving. The Lavrador restaurant was by far the best I tried in my 10 days on the island!
Fantastic place! Peace, quiet and those views of the mountains!!! Here you can really experience the beauty of Madeira. The farm is a bit far from the main road and town, but it takes about 10 minutes by car to reach São Vicente. There are some interesting trails nearby, ex. Levada Fajã do Rodrigues. The bungalow is very well equipped with everything you need. Cristina is a super host. Due to a delayed flight I arrived after check-in time, but she was waiting for me to give me the keys and necessary information.
One perfect place. Definitely not like a hostel, you have privacy by having your own room which is quite big by the way. The rooms are separated by a curtain but for a hostel exceptional conditions. The hostel is located on the main road, a nice walk to Sao Vicente village. There is a big common room, a wonderful kitchen and very good bathroom space. The view from the terrace is fantastic, watching the sunset with the waves rolling in was one of the highlights of my stay.
We really enjoyed the beautiful, rural location of this hotel, steeps hills and all! It was peaceful and charming overall, and the room was very relaxing with everything done perfectly. The staff were kind and personable, the pool was lovely and I had it all to myself when I went swimming. The bed was very comfortable with good pillow options. The local herb garden was another perfect touch to a charming overall experience.
The little house is perfect for a stay in Sao Vicente. Is has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We highly appreciated that it had a washing machine. We were greeted with a bottle of Madeira wine and home made cookies, very thoughtful. Janine who administrates the property, is a wonderful person, very attentive and communicative. She gave us lots of info on where to eat, drink, trekking spots and so much more.
The location was outstanding with the ocean right outside the window and next door were plenty of bakeries for breakfast, restaurants for lunch and dinner, bars for relaxing and a supermarket too for everything else. It was also easy to get everywhere in north and western Madeira from Sao Vicente. The apartment was spacious, pleasant, and had all the essentials.
Hotel in a quiet place in front of the ocean . Perfect stay to rest and enjoy the environment. Rooms are clean and spacious. Staff is really kind, professional and very helpful. Restaurants is delicious. A pure pleasure at all points and highly recommended.
Great view! sleep was fine, no one was heard. breakfast was good, it was enough for us. there is parking, if not near the hotel, then 150m from is the large one. I will definitely recommend this hotel for my friends who’s going to visit Madeira
Location was perfect, communication with the house owner was pleasant, nice surrounding (supermarket, nature and gas station), view to the village. Nice fully equipped kitchen (permanently available) and the hall with the fire place.
It’s the perfect place in São Vicente. Super clean, kitchen was fully equipped, which I really loved. Felipe was in Touch with me via WhatsApp to make sure everything was good. Cute town, very quiet, good hiking nearby
The guest house is located in the beautiful village of Sao Vincente. The view from the balcony was spectacular, birds singing from the early morning, staff extremely helpful, accommodating and warm. Highly recommended.
Beautiful location, just above the village of Sao Vincente. Your own private terrace with a view. Salt water pool and friendly hosts. Bonus: the home made Madeira wine made by Lionel.
Great house to stay in Sao Vicente. Everything that we needed was there - ready to use. The house was close to the ocean, hiking trails and to the town centre as well. Perfect area.
Beautiful setting and a beautiful hotel. This is a wonderful place to stay when visiting the gorgeous Portuguese island of Madeira in the North Atlantic Ocean.
The location of this hotel is great, there is a nice view on the hills around. The hotel has a small swimming pool. The staff was very nice and kind.
Very nice owner Frédéric who helped us with everything. Basic accommodation, great value, good location in the lovely town of Sao Vicente
