This Airbnb is definitely one of a kind, the best so far during our 17 day trip in Spain - Portugal. Our host Marisa was so nice to leave us water, coffee, fruits, and even a chocolate cake. We couldn’t be happier with our stay and really wished we could have stayed for longer at this beautiful town.

One can argue if the Hotel Convento Nossa Senhora do Carmo really deserves 4-star rating but we spent absolutely amazing days there, and we were happy we booked it! Maybe the magic of the place worked - we enjoyed everything, from very friendly and attentive staff to comfirtable bed to delicious food to beautiful garden with the crystal-clear pool! (Coffee was also good which is not common in Portugal)

The host was friendly and extremely helpful. It was a well restored Medieval manor house and my room was stunning. I was given the run of the place, including an impressive library. I was on a long distance walking trip: this stay was a real highlight. I got to meet the owner's Shetland pony, who thinks she's a dog Superb breakfast, too.

Sernancelhe is Portugal’s capital of the chestnuts.

Sernancelhe is Portugal’s capital of the chestnuts. It has a lot of festivities during the year that gather a lot of people from the region as well as from around the country. It is just a few minutes from an artificial dam, with a lagoon and river beach with nice facilities, 1 hour from Guarda, the highest city in Portugal, and 2 hours from Serra da Estrela, the highest sierra/mountains in continental Portugal. You can find people hiking, biking and spending summer vacations in the lagoon beach facilities.
