Absolutely magical stay! This lodge near Volcanoes National Park is a true hidden gem and one of the best experiences I’ve had while traveling. The location is unbeatable—just a short 15-minute drive to the gorilla trekking meeting point, making it incredibly convenient. You’re completely immersed in nature, surrounded by lush greenery and breathtaking volcano views that make every moment feel surreal. The lodge itself is done with impeccable taste and so much attention to detail—from the beautifully curated plants and decorations to the cozy, inviting atmosphere. I was welcomed with a lovely souvenir gift in my room, which was such a thoughtful touch. The room was stocked with everything I could possibly need: tea, coffee, plush bathrobes, slippers… it felt like home, but better. At night, the staff even left a hot water bottle in the bed—such a comforting detail after a day of adventure. The food? Incredible. Breakfast offered a wide variety of delicious options, and dinner was just perfect every night. The common area with the fireplace became a nightly ritual—great music, warm fire, interesting conversations, and a cozy ambiance that made it hard to leave. Joachim, the host, is an absolute star. Friendly, responsive, and so informative—he was always ready to help with tips, transport arrangements, or anything else we needed, always at a fair price. His warmth and hospitality really stood out. Oh, and let’s not forget the little things: the team cleaned my muddy shoes and gaiters after trekking (lifesaver!), and the lodge is also home to an adorable family of cats and a sweet dog who made my stay even more special. I couldn’t stop petting them! This place is paradise. Peaceful, welcoming, beautifully run, and surrounded by the beauty of Rwanda. I’m already dreaming of coming back. Highly, highly recommended

This is a wonderful little place just outside of Kinigi. There are only 4 individual lodges on this property, located in a wonderful, large garden, with beautiful mountain views, and a large fire pit area in the center. Each lodge is VERY big, with its own little patio, and indoor fireplace. It's absolutely wonderful. Large bathroom, with a very large shower, hot water all the time, good water pressure. I had an all-inclusive package and the chef was absolutely wonderful, with a different menu every day, and multiple options to choose from. I am originally from Paris, France and I am a foody. The food was truly excellent. The location was perfect; outside of Kinigi and only a 15-minute drive to the Gorillas trekking headquarters. On a side note, you would not want to stay downtown Kinigi, which is only a very small village with no amenities for foreigners. The staff could not have been any better, very friendly and always pro-active.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I stayed at this wonderful hotel for three nights, and I would like to sincerely thank the entire team for their outstanding and unlimited hospitality. All the staff were incredibly kind, helpful, and quick to respond, always serving us with a warm smile. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and every evening the staff prepared the room beautifully, turned down the bed, and lit the fireplace, so we never felt cold at all. The food was excellent, delicious, and beautifully presented. Everything exceeded our expectations. Thank you all so much for these truly enjoyable and memorable days. I highly recommend this hotel and would love to return again.

Agnes was absolutely amazing! She checked us in and walked us to our room and made us feel like we were at home. There was mango juice to greet us In reception and Agnes make sure that Every need with Met. She recommended places of interest in the area, places to eat, including the restaurant facility at the hotel. Agnes was completely genuine as she asked us how our stay was how comfortable are rooms were, and said she looked forward to seeing us again when we departed from the hotel. meeting Agnes and her warm hospitality was one of the highlights of my traveling through Rwanda.

We got the big room with fireplace and a balcony with view...

We got the big room with fireplace and a balcony with view of the mountains. The room was clean and esthetically designed. the whole cottage has local rawandian decor aesthetics rather than regular corporate style rooms. The owner Hilde and all her staff was just amazing. Food was delicious, stay was warm, cozy and welcoming. Staff helped us out when our car tyre got punctured. The car, shoes were cleaned throughly after we got them dirty after the muddy drive and trekking. And the food was made to cater to our requirements, like my allergies were easily accomodated by the chef. We felt at home in Kinnigi cottage. Talking to Hilde was also a delight, we spent a whole morning relaxing, talking to her, taking dance pose photos with her before we moved to our next destination. Very close to the Gorilla tracking, hardly a drive of 15 mins. just the small internal road drive towards the cottage is bit rough but manageable. So all in all a very nice affordable stay for the VNP area.

Great if you want to get away from it all.

Great if you want to get away from it all. The staff, the lodge, grounds and the rooms are wonderful. True Rwandan hospitality. Wi fi in common areas.....Beautiful views of the volcano mountains. Staff willing and able to assist with all of your requests for local activities. I will always remember the kindness of the people working there and those behind the scenes. A true gem of the NW.....
