Hotel in Cerf Island
Featuring an outdoor swimming pool and a garden, L’Habitation offers rooms on the beachfront of Cerf Island. Some rooms have an equipped terrace with views over the sea. L’habitation Cerf Island was the perfect, private, relaxing holiday spot we were after. Although only a 10 minute boat ride from the main island, it felt like we were a world away from Mahe, where we had enjoyed 5 days previously. It is advertised as a Robinson Crusoe hideaway, and it felt just like that! The hotel is looks exactly as in the photos. There is a simple yet beautiful garden which is thriving with birdlife and fruit bats! The open space was lovely with fresh air breezing through the reception and restaurant. We enjoyed our meals looking out to the beach whilst enjoying the fresh air, listening to and watching the busy, hungry, chatty wildlife. We had a great room which was spacious and with an excellent balcony. The balcony overlooked the garden and onto the beach and sea. We spent quality time sitting out there listening to the waves lap on the shore, and relished watching the fruit bats getting on with their business of feeding and socialising! The food was better here at the restaurant than what we had experienced on Mahe. The highlight though was the beach BBQ ‘Opa Restaurant’ a few minutes’ walk along the beach. An amazing, sumptuous Creole seafood buffet at a great price! The hotel staff were very friendly and always willing to help with our requests. We stayed over New Years and there was a nice festive atmosphere. The pace of the hotel is laidback, so embrace and delight in a slower tempo while switching off on your holiday. L’habitation Cerf Island was the ideal, tranquil, blissful escape.

Cerf Island was lovely for a couple of nights. It's only 10-15mins on the boat from Mahe but is so different. It's very small and there is very little to do, but that's part of the charm. It's so chilled and relaxed. Perfect for a bit of kayaking, snorkelling and sunbathing.

Cerf island is a small island off the coast of Mahe. It is only for people who love peace and quiet, because there is nothing on the island except for a few small hotels. You can walk along the beach and there is one hiking path to the other side of the island, which is said to be pretty steep. The hotels have boats that take their guests over to Mahe (Eden Island), where there is a shopping mall and several restaurants and an excellent ice cream parlour. In order to go anywhere else from Eden Island you have to take a taxi, because, at least as far as I know, there is no public transport from Eden island.
Beautiful small island - not overcrowded. You can live here in relative quiet and enjoy nature. Snorkelling paradise - several places with beautiful corals around the cost - easily accessible from the beach, do not need a boat. Beautiful corals and lot of fish. Possibility to borrow kayaks and explore the area between several small islands Marine Park Reserve consists of.
Unless you are energetic, it is not easy to explore the island itself. But there are walks you can take although very humid so needs to be done very early in the morning. Kayaking is very popular. Snorkling is not fantastic. A perfect place to be laid back and just relax.
