There are a variety of interesting things to see and do in and around Skara. The district is an ancient agricultural society, a center for the development of Christianity, a cathedral that is worth seeing with its medieval architecture, modern stained glass windows and much more. The nature includes a number of hiking trails and a lake that is famous for the "crane dance" in the spring when the cranes are on their way north.
Skara is a very small but historic town. It has a mediaeval cathedral. It is also close to Hornborgasjon where thousands of cranes gather around the beginning of April. A few couple of hours was long enough to look at the cathedral and get a coffee and cake at Nocke's cafe which is on the other side of the open space behind the old school which is on the south side of the cathedral. You might need slightly longer if you want to wander or get a meal. If you are there in the last week or March or the first two weeks of April then a visit to the cranes at Hornborgasjon is also worth it. Skara is just off the E20 so a good stopping place when driving past on the way to or from Goteborg.
