Wow, what wonderful experience. Cerkno is a little off the beaten track, which is exactly what we wanted. The accommodation was homely, clean and Slovenian. This farm stay filled our tanks - amazing hosts, beautiful surroundings and the most amazing breakfasts and dinners. If you choose to stay here, we would highly recommend the evening dinners - they were truely amazing.

The apartment is located in a quiet and peaceful area up on the hill. A quite steep, narrow and curvy road leads to it from the town, but one gets used to it after a few trips driving up and down. There is a stunning view from the hill down to the valley and to the surrounding mountains. The apartment is quite big, comfortable and clean, enough to accommodate 6 adults. It is very well equipped. The hosts are exceptionally friendly and helpful. We had a little accident and they did everything they could to assist us.

The house is situated beautifully and is quiet, comfortable, and clean. The best part was the owner of the property. She was kind and went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. She even shopped for a sumptuous vegan/vegetarian breakfast for us, when I informed her that we needed breakfast. This stay was a highlight of our Juliana trail adventure. Very sad we are not staying longer.

Cerkno isn't a big town.

Cerkno isn't a big town. It does have a SPAR supermarket and a charming museum. You can reach a point of interest every 30 to 90 minutes. However, the roads are always winding and sometimes climb very high into the mountains.

Many excursions can be planned and undertaken from there. Very close by is an old hospital that cared for the wounded during the war and was ultimately destroyed by a flood and rebuilt. It's well worth a visit. Even tour buses stop at the Franjo Hospital in Cerkno.

Cerkno and its surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful.

Cerkno and its surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful. Its natural treasures, mountains, streams, forest springs, are unparalleled in Europe. The mountain serpentines offer a fantastic panorama of the surroundings. It is an ideal destination for hikers and those who want to do sports. After a 1.5-2 hour drive by car, Bled, Tolmin Gorge, Vintgar Waterfall or the Bohinj region are conveniently accessible.

If travelers don't mind spending time in the car, this is a...

If travelers don't mind spending time in the car, this is a good starting point for exploring the southeastern part of Triglav National Park. Lake Bohinj or the Tolmin Gorge are about a 45-60 minute drive away. The benefit of a longer drive to tourist destinations is the quiet surroundings of Cerkno and plenty of privacy.

Everything was great! We came on Sunday - it's free day in Slovenia and George - the landlord - offered us some supplies for supper/breakfast. We had our staff so we didn't need it, but it was very nice. The apartament is small, but has everything that you need. It's located in beautiful area so you have wonderful views from your windows. It's a little bit far from main attractions - like Bled or Lublana, but price was really okay. You can park your car opposite to the apartament so it's very convinient.

The views from the balcony were breath taking. We could see the mountains for miles and miles. Boys loved the swings, chickens and playful farm dogs. We could take a walk early in the morning or in the evening to see the sunset. It is a working farm and the family who owns the land run the business as well. It was a remote place but that's why we chose it. We travelled with a car to Lake Bohnij and Bled. We had the best holidays ever thanks to a beautiful weather and scenery.
