Saint Louis is a friendly town to spend a couple of days . the colonial district is atmospheric with a nice vibe . The beach side to the town is a working residential area for fishermen families so not the prettiest and does smell in parts but still worth an explore . A couple of kilometers further north in the direction of Mauritania the town gives way to pristine sand beaches . There is no shade just sea and sand .
Saint Louis is a must see. However, you need to taylor your expectations. This was once a beautiful town under the French, but the senegalis don't maintain it, so expect crumbling houses and goats strolling the streets. Still you should see it and help them improve their tourism!
Fishing area interesting. Town ok for "transit/brief look". Hotel location poor - choose somewhere more central. I live in Gambia, so used to beggars / but mainly adults. Here LOTS of beggars, VERY persistent boys /
Beautiful old architecture, and a lot of it is being preserved and/or renovated. La Residence is a great place for an evening meal, with prices surprisingly cheaper than most restaurants in Dakar. Djoudj National Park is definitely worth a visit for anyone interested in seeing some nature - especially for birdwatchers.
Well, after Dakar, Saint-Louis is much smaller, much less smoggy, and much more low-key! Perfect city for walking around, looking at old buildings, drinking coffee in cafes, buying souvenirs, etc. Fun to walk across the (long) bridge, hike to the beach area (Hydrobase), and take a day trip to La Langue de la Barbarie. Friendly people everywhere!
What a beautiful city. I can especially recommend: Chez Dosso restaurant for lunch, the Museum of Photography, Flamingo for an evening drink by the water, and the restaurants Aux Delicies du Fleuve and Le Reveil.
Everything was perfect the stuff was really nice Omar, Mamadou and Papis were the best hosts I have ever met. 100% recommend this place it will be your loss if you stay elsewhere ☺️ From all the hotels we’ve stayed at my husband liked this one the most. This is our new home whenever we come to senegal Saint-louis we’ll be staying here. djeureudjeuf.
Loved the location away from the hustle of the fishing village and right on the beach. The restaurant at the hotel was convenient and good and priced well. Lots of room to park a vehicle. Air conditioning and TV with a channel in English! Pictures on the website are a good representation.
The food was quite good, which was a pleasant surprise. It was better than a well rated restaurant in town. The staff was friendly. The room was clean. The pool was very clean. The hotel was a bit further down/away from the centre than expected, but ok in the end. Quiet location.
I spent amazing time at the hotel. The stuff were my highlight. They made me feel like home. Special thanks to Binta... ndeye ouly.... assane Abderrahim Khadija The food was amazing Assane was an amazing chef. Thank you very much i will 100% be back here. Highly recommend
Great location in the middle of the colonial town, so very easy to walk to restaurants, shops, museums. Old-time hotel that retained its charm, while having updated services (bathrooms). Very comfortable bed and excellent shower. The yoghurt at breakfast is fantastic.
