Located in Principe, Principe Island region, Principe Residencial is set 1.5 mi from Seabra Beach. The breakfast I had was an omlette, with homemade rolls and fresh pineapple. Prepared by Lorenzo, it was all excellent. He took great care. Honestly, the breakfast was quite sustaining and delicious. I really couldn't ask for more in a budget-minded hotel. Hipolito, the Manager, was an excellent facilitator and knew everyone. The entire staff helped me with all that I needed while I was on the island. That included airport transfer, finding a rental vehicle, extra groceries, and advice on what to do during my extended stay. I know very little Portuguese, yet the staff was quite patient and helpful.
Set in Santo António, 5 mi from Zona Ecologica Principe Ecological Zone, Residencial Mira Rio offers accommodations with a restaurant, free private parking, a bar and a garden. Restaurant has a very nice view over the river. Conveniently located in town and more affordable than staying at the resorts. Provided free airport transfer.
Offering an outdoor pool and a restaurant, Roça Belo Monte Hotel is located in Santo António. Free WiFi access is available. At Roça Belo Monte Hotel you will find a private beach area. Overall the staff were friendly & welcoming. Nature friendly location with a nice view of the bay. Food was delicious with a variety of dishes for the dinner course. Special shout out to the lovely server who packed breakfast for us when we were checking out.
It is truly a lost paradise. The island almost without tourist, full of nice locals, amazing nature and great views. It is a place to think and enjoy the life. We are not about swimming and beaches, but the rainforest was just stunning!
The island is nice but it is just another island on the same latitute as other nice remote islands in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand ... you name it. The length of the trip is very long particularly if you come from Europe: one needs to take a plane to Lisbon (+/- 2 hours), spend a few hours in transit in Lisbon (2h in my case), take a plane to Sao Tome - in my case, I flew with TAP - via Accra (Ghana 5 1/2 hours more), with a stopover of 45 min and another leg to Sao Tome, 2 more hours. Then as the plane arrives late afternoon, you need to overnight in Sao Tome and the following day take a plane early afternoon to Principe (45 minutes). In total, to reach Principe, I spent 32 hours.
The island is absolutely stunning. The people are friendly, the beaches are amazing, it feels safer than São Tomé, the roads are better and has a lot to see and explore even though is a small island. A must in São Tomé and Príncipe!
