Motorcycle parking was good but a little too small. One vehicle was parked too close and thereby restricting the motorcycle parking. That vehicle may have been an owner or staff member, as it was there for several days, but this is just my suspicion.

We only stayed for two nights, so we could do a full day tour which included Erawan Falls, Hellfire Pass, Burma Railway and Bridge over River Kwae, which is a must do via Thai National Parks if you are staying locally. We could have stayed much longer as there is so much more to do and see.

Visit Kanchanburi!
Visit Kanchanburi! You must take the Train over the River Kwai up to Namtok (about 1 hour train ride, tickets bought on the train. Have cash Baht to pay) and visit Hellfire Pass. Not to be missed. The most beautiful scenery but with many steps. Whilst checking out Kanchanaburi please visit the WWII and Jeath War Museum. A section of the original River Kwai bridge is still in place. This Museum is so worth the tiny 100 Baht entry. The lady in the ticket office (perfect English) is exceptionally knowledgeable about local tourism and also can help you with a return open air taxi back to the River Kwae Resort. Plenty of markets in the town centre of Kan, but we preferred to eat at the Resort. Be prepared ... a 'taxi' in Kan is an open air ute/truck. So much fun!

Really great place to be out of the madness.
Really great place to be out of the madness. We stayed at the Royal River Kwai which was stunning. It was quiet, there was bird song. We took a river tour and went to an elephant sanctuary where we fed the elephants after helping them wash in the river and walking with them in the jungle. We didn't have enough time to do the train trip too and the main town area looked fun to check out - which we didn't have time to do either. We stayed 3 days here - I would recommend staying 5 or more - especially if you want to have days where you do nothing.

Great to visit such an important wartime location and experience just a tiny bit of what many prisoners of war had to endure. As with all sites like this, it’s not somewhere you go for fun, but it’s an important part of history and keeps the memory alive

Kanchanaburi was a fun place to stay for two nights.
Kanchanaburi was a fun place to stay for two nights. Erawan waterfall was definitely worth a visit. I was there in early March and other waterfalls in the area I was told might not be worth the trip due to having less water. Erawan has much less water this time of year than the rainy season, but it was still a very beautiful place to visit. I enjoyed the railroad museum and seeing the bridge over the river Kwai. There are good food and coffee options in Kanchanaburi and the train from Bangkok was a fun (but hot) experience.

Fantastic city to expand your knowledge of WWII. The Bridge.
Fantastic city to expand your knowledge of WWII. The Bridge. Thai-Burma Railway Museum (don't waste your time with any of the others). Commonwealth graves immaculately maintained. Hellfire Pass an hour away (watch The Railway Man before you go). Also great golf.

Boutique style room with a jacuzzi & a balcony, both with a view of the river. My wife thought the hotel was 'excellent'.
Hotel is in the bar/restaurant area about 2kms downstream from the Bridge on the River Kwai. The main War Cemetery is about 0.5kms downstream from the hotel. There was a large carpark on site. We arrived a bit early, they would not allow access to the room until 2pm.
Breakfast was a buffet on a terrace next to the river, with a reasonable choice. Only drawback was it was down a flight of stairs.
The view was absolutely stunning - the staff were extremely welcoming, helpful and friendly.
The food at the restaurant was to die for!! It is relatively out of the way, but well worth it and would 100% stay here again. We planned our stay just to visit the Kanchanaburi sites, however in hindsight, I would have booked an extra night or two just to relax at the hotel - our highlight of the Thai trip!
At first I was afraid that I choose wrong accommodation. We are the only one guest there but the owner did very good job to host us and help to anything we need during stay including excursion to some spots in Kanchanaburi. The Hotel it self far away from the city but so relaxing. We do have a great time there and surely will comeback again.
Lovely hotel on the river, views at night were beautiful. Friendly and helpful staff. Our room was fine for a night, clean and just big enough. Breakfast was very divers, fresh and delicious!
