The area around is beautiful situated in the mountains. The roads bend and rise up and down with very little traffic. There are many local restaurants offering cheap local foods. A great place to stop while travelling around the area.
Mae Sarioang is the one crossroad of the R108 and R105 between Mae Hong Song in the North, Mae Sot in the South and Hot/Chiang Mai to the East. Mae Sariang is for many an overnight stop from one of those places to one of those places, what does not gives Mae Sariang the attention it deserves. It is a great hub, for a good number of day trips into the mountain, to and along the Salaweng river and to a great number of viewpoints on relatively good paved roads and some dirt roads. It has conserved the old days charm of a slower Northern Thailand / Lana small town with enough bars, restaurants and coffee shops to fill a week. A good place to stay a bit longer and explore the hill tops, river villages and coffee plantations, before you are heading off to the next point.
A small town which most people use as a stopover on the Mae Hong Son Loop. It is a lovely place with some lively local spots on the river. Trekking and rafting available. Recommend Ching Ching bar for drinks and Redwood and Coriander restaurant for great food. Cheap massage in local spots.
Mae Sariang is beautiful. Pwo Karen tribes make up about 50% of the town. It lays in a beautiful green valley surrounded by tall mountains and has 2 rivers run through it. Lovely views! Glad we stopped and visited friends. Great coffee shops too. Nice stop over if you are doing the Mae Hong Son loop. We started in Chiang Mai, then to Pai, Mae Hong Son and Mae Sariang and back up to Chiang Mai. We took 5 days and enjoyed all the viewpoints and highlights along the way. We ate dinner at the Coriander Restaurant and the the Salmon dinner was the best I have had. Salmon cooked to perfection!
Small town with a lot of good eats. We would have loved to stay 2 nights but we were just passing through.it was low key and now ridiculously touristy like Pai. We are at the Coriander resort restaurant. It was delicious and reasonable.
Chilled relax little riverside town. Nothing much here except for a few sleepy streets but that’s the attraction after the hippie over tourist fest of Pai. There’s plenty decent accommodation to chose from, places to eat and a couple of bars. Got a friendly vibe to the place easily accessible on beautiful country roads.
Mae Sariang
We arrived at the hotel and got our room right away, place seems nice it is on the river and we walked to the pool area to check it out next door (allowed to use pool) but weather was cool and pool cold. We went to look for a place to eat and we found one near hotel but the food were no good. The breakfast at the hotel was ok alot of asian type of food. There is a parking area in front of the hotel but it fills up quickly so once you find a spot you do not move.
Mae Sariang
This is a fantastic place to stay, beats a hotel hands down! Very friendly staff, super clean, spacious room, peaceful, the grounds are very well maintained with nice views from both the front and back. A nice light complimentary breakfast is available.and very friendly staff. Will be staying here on out return trip.
Mae Sariang
Very cozy and welcoming. Leave your shoes at the entrance. Relaxing view from the balcony over the river, valley and mountains. Very clean and comfortable room on the top floor. Small but perfect. Good food available for dinner and basic easy breakfast. Good coffee. The Teak building is very rustic and we loved it.
Mae Sariang
Room on the second floor, is spacious and clean. It has both fan and air-con. Bed is comfortable. Bathroom is quite big. A number of choices for the set breakfast to choose from. Some lovely cats within the property. A short walk to a convenience store, some restaurants, and a night market.
Mae Sariang
My favorite place we stayed on the Mae Hong Song loop. We had the twin room on the second floor. There is a nice balcony and there is a view that looks over the peaceful mountains. The hostess and her mother were incredibly sweet! it also was great value!
