We primarily came to see ancient ruins of Hierapolis which was fascinating but also enjoyed Pamukkale - although 20 years ago when we first visited we could walk over much more of it.
We managed to book the balloon ride well ahead, at the time of booking hotel. Balloon ride was a great plus to our stay here.
Good selection of small restaurants in a ~pedestrian street in Pamukkale.
If you want to see more of these ancient cities historical sites, Laodicea is only a short trip away (and much cheaper than Pamukkale entrance fee).

Pamukkale is undeniably centered around its great wonder, the thermal pools, which are truly a sight to behold. However, the town and surrounding area seem to have been developed in the 1970s and have not seen significant updates since then. Every restaurant, hotel, and attraction feels like a relic from that era, which might appeal to some but felt quite dated to me. Additionally, I found the locals to be less warm and friendly than expected, with a noticeable focus on making money rather than genuinely caring for their guests. While the thermal pools are a must-see, the overall experience in Pamukkale could benefit from some modernization and a more hospitable atmosphere.

I first went to Pamukkale in 1990 and I can not remember having to pay to get in only having to pay to get into the Roman Baths, which you now pay extra to swim in. I also remember that you could pretty much go wherever you wanted, sitting in the pools.
Now it is £30 to get in and the water has been diverted away from the natural pools to help keep people away. The only pools you can access are man made on the slope from the entrance or exit to town.
We had however, came for the hot air balloons which were excellent and I highly recommend.

The Travertine Terraces was amazing.
The Travertine Terraces was amazing. The hot springs was also good. The views are beautiful.
Next was the ancient city of Hierapolis nearby. It is vast and to enjoy it, take your time and spend the day walking around. A lot of walking though not if you don't like walking the do rent golf cart
If you like Turkish food, the local cuisine is authentic and they have Mom and Pop restaurants that have home cooking
The best hotel in current trip in Turkey and cheapest at the same time.
It's quiet, clean, quite big room, everything works and in good condition, including hot water under good pressure even in the morning. And 27 euro per night. I was going around by car and in most places (including not touristy) the best options were much worse and 40+ euro for a couple.
And internet was working very good, much better than in other places, yet it's not a peak season.
Very nice hotel to spend your holiday in Pamukkale. Very well located, clean rooms, huge comfortable bed. The receptionist that welcomed us was very friendly and gave us great tips about the thermal springs in Karahayit. The breakfast people were also very helpful by accommodating us when we request a slightly earlier breakfast.
Fantastic! Well equipped rooms, with great shower and strong wi-fi (definitely not a given in Turkey). Beautiful pool, and an excellent breakfast. Very close to walk to the pedestrian entrance to the Pamukkale travertines. Great value, and I would definitely stay here again. Thanks!
The perfect, affordable hotel to stay in when visiting Pamukkale. It's located in the town, super close the the main entrance to the park, as well as near all the restaurants and the bus stops to Denizli. The room was spacious and clean. Can't beat it for the price.
It's difficult to find nice facilities in Pamukkale. Hotel Colossae Thermal is a good solution if you're planning to stay one night. The room was clean and the staff was accommodating. The location is nothing special, a bit retrò in style.
