ZAN is a complex with 7 buildings, 4 of them are together (including Zan Sun beach) and the others are in other locations. There are 3 different restaurants with different cuisines, and the guests have access to all of them, and also to their swimmimg pools, which was really great. All the staff were friendly, the bed was comfortable, the manager was attentive and the sea views are superb. Also, the room is enormous. It’s an excellent value for money and I’d stay again, although might not fit someone looking for highly luxury standards

Beautiful hotel in very calm and peaceful place. Nobody would bother you here so you can really relax and enjoy Zanzibar. I had a double room with ocean view and it was fantastic, you can see the ocean from your bed. The room is very comfortable, all furniture is new, there is everything you need. Hotel is ecofriendly and use reusable glass bottles for water. The chef is very professional and cook really delicious food (it was the best food I have tried in Zanzibar). The variety of food is not big but everything is tasty. The chef cooked lobster especially for me and it was delicious. Perfect poached eggs for breakfast, guacamole, banana crepes. I liked everything I have tried. All stuff were friendly. Very bad wifi. I bought a sim card and recommend to do the same if you need internet. It is not about hotel, but ocean here is almost impossible to swim. Take a water shoes if you want to go into the ocean and at least seat there. I spent 3 days here and really love this place. It is really remote from everything so it suit for people who look for peaceful atmosphere. If you like to swim in the ocean I recommend to mix your holiday with different areas as I did.

Staying in this hotel we felt like at home. The service was very friendly and helpful and the rooms clean and comfortable. The employees took care of every detail and created a wonderful atmosphere that allowed for complete relaxation. They have prepared many attractions for children, and great food and drinks in the hotel bar for adults. I highly recommend this hotel for families with children, but also for couples and people who want to spend a nice and relaxing time in a charming place.

The serenity of the place was magical. The fresh breeze was in peaceful coexistence with nature. The rise and fall of the tides was a wonder to be hold. The warm welcome accorded to us by the host and the wonderful food made our stay very memorable. I can't wait to come again with friends and family. I would call the place "magical" a place to find your inner being!

Super clean and well-maintained, very easy to reach from the main road (no driving through the village). Excellent room layout - you wake up on a vast bed and immediately see the ocean (or close the curtains for near-darkness). Hot (not lukewarm!) water, modern A/C and a fridge in every room. Exceptionally attentive staff going out of their way to make sure you're fed and entertained. Consistently good food at the restaurant. The beach is somewhat secluded - while you can walk to adjacent spots, there's very little through traffic, meaning much fewer folks trying to sell stuff, and more privacy.

Beautiful beach, warm and calm ocean to swim in. Lots of eating options, amazing people. Yes, there are people trying to sell you things on the beach - but was quieter than other beaches (Like Paje) and they are all respectful.

I've been in Makunduchi before and if you don't want to be...

I've been in Makunduchi before and if you don't want to be in the tourist hotspot it is great! The beach is fantastic (but be aware of the low and high tides). I would recommend arranging for a driver to get around as there are many great places to visit and you shouldn't stay put in just one place.

Due to tide no chance to enjoy the sea. Beaches are long, white and quiet. Very less tourist traffic. However far away from all the attractions. Nmemba island 2 hours drive, stone town 1.5 hours drive etc

We stayed at The One Zanzibar Resort in Makunduchi.

We stayed at The One Zanzibar Resort in Makunduchi. It was a lovely stay. Away from the hustle and bustle of Stone Town. The staff, facilities, and entertainment were all good. All the staff made sure that we were looked after.
