The beaches in Nungwi are great, both for going to the beach and for walking on the sand, and the high tide and low tide are not so strong I didn't like the fact that there is a lot of mess, you look and see that the locals simply don't care about the surroundings, they throw garbage everywhere and it's annoying that you are constantly disturbed on the beach by those who want to sell something

We stayed at another hotel further south in 2022. Sea was tidal and not great to swim in. The Nungwi/Kendwa area is by far the most beautiful. Scuba diving was ok, unfortunately the locals continue to plunder the reefs.

on the beach, expect constant stalking and harassment on a whole new level (and i've been to 70 countries including 7 other countries in Africa) people will rudely interrupt your conversations or meddle even when you tend to children in case to offer their (sometimes illegal) goods or services, and become angry if ignored, or just keep standing/walking next to you, sometimes in groups, sometimes to the hotel door or whatever other destination, trying to imitate your language all the while if you talk back to them and allow them to tag along, they will demand money for their time/effort afterwards so definitely not recommended for families with kids, and generally you have to be tough to be able to enjoy the (very dirty) beach despite all this

Nungwi is probaly the nicest beach in Zanzibar. Its not overcrowded and yet has enough restaurants and bars. Alway take care when walking along the beach, when you try to return you might not be able to due to high and low tide. I am there to enjoy the sun and the beach not to be harassed by them, after I kindly explained that I don't wish to talk, have a good day, they literally follow me and don't leave me alone.
