I like Ashfork because it's a quaint town next to my property. I like the convenience of gas, stores, ease of access to the areas. What I didn't like was the way I was ripped off by the local dinky old cafe across from the new restaurant. I ordered a small 2 slices of bread, light mayo, some lettuce and bacon. It turned out to be 8.00 dollar's! I could of had a full breakfast. I was never told how much it was going to be nor was I even offered an alternative for the money. They took my money and ran. I even tipped the to go order. This is a shame to treat people this way and especially when I own property here and pay taxes to fund school for kids. I have only adult children. I think Ashfork would be better off closing the eye sore and placing a nice breakfast house there instead, then I wouldn't mind paying the high price.
Upon checking in, you deal with staff through a little window. Office looked big and decent by always closed or locked up. Only seen one staff member entire stay. I accidentally locked keys in room, without a staff around, my friend was able to enter my room within 5 seconds with his health insurance card. Rooms are in need of a desperate remodel and repairs. The only upside was the overnight price, and easy freeway access. There is a nice restaurant to eat or have a cocktail at called Lu Lu Belle's BBQ. It's further down the main road on the other side of the small town.
It's a budget friendly motel for a quick stay when needing a rest from a days travel. It's also a short distance from williams Az. So if your planning a train ride to Grand Canyon from Williams Az then this motel is good for that.
Very small town, part of old route 66 that got bypassed, so a little rustic in looks. A couple of small but nice restaurants, one BBQ and one kind of old style comfort food, priced ok. It's a great stop on the way to or from the Grand Canyon, so you can miss the more expensive hotels in Flagstaff. Room was clean, it was quiet, and price is great!
We wish Ashfork had more food options. It's okay if your just passing through, but if you frequent the area often like we do, you run out of options quick and find yourself going up the mountain to Williams.
This is a little Route 66 town bypassed by the freeway long ago. There's really nothing much to do or see here, but the motels are a bargain and it has "Lulu Belle's," which is a VERY good restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. My friend and I would say that it is as good as any place in Williams, where we visited while staying in Ash Fork. We had an excellent breakfast there, then returned that night for dinner. Try the brisket! Ash Fork is just a good, bargain place to stop on the way to the Grand Canyon or elsewhere.
