Astoria is a lovely little city built on hills, with a spectacular view of the mighty Columbia River. It is close to the coast and towns like Seaside and Cannon Beach. Restaurants are good too, especially Bridgewater Bistro, Fulio's, and Fort George Brewery & Public House.

Checking in and getting room was extremely cumbersome and time consuming. With no lobby and no on-site personnel available, getting into the hotel was available only via a cipher lock. I was not given the cipher lock combination and gained entry only because the cipher lock door was left ajar. Once inside, there was no lobby and the only on-site personnel was the cleaning lady who spoke very broken English. I called the contact number given on my confirmation e-mail. I got a recorded message; I left a message requesting a room number and key to gain entry. I called the number twice and no one ever got back to me. I found another number and called it; the lady gave me the cipher lock number to gain entry into the building. I had to call back a second time to get the room number and how to gain entry into the room. The lack of on-site personnel made this a stressful stay.
We stayed in a suite (bedroom, bath and living room); There was only one wastebasket. There were no chairs other than a loveseat in the living room.
I would not recommend this hotel.

Astoria is charming.
Astoria is charming. It's right next to the mouth of the Columbia River and there is a great Maritime Museum there. There is also a Trolley and River walk. Plenty of good restaurants. Went enjoyed Mo's for fish and chips (amazing view of the Columbia River), and a restaurant called Stranded for brunch. We look forward to returning and probably spending more time.

Astoria is a great get- away place along the coast to visit, which has lots of history worth exploring, as well as beautiful scenery. It's not as busy or crowded as many of the other coastal towns, which makes it more appealing for retired people and families without small children. There are a number of brew pubs, wine bars & restaurants, which make it an interesting place to explore various culinary styles. Taking the trolley along the river way was a surprising gem- so inexpensive, & a character- filled, entertaining, informative exploration of the heart of this charming town.

What a place!
What a place! I have not heard of Astoria until I read a book "Astoria" given to me by a friend. When we got to the town all of history with Lewis and Clark and John Jacob Astor came to life. the town is very pleasant and all of the people we encountered were exceptionally kind.
We also loved the trolly ride which gave us a perspective of the other history of the place.

Astoria is an old city. There is lots to see and do there.
Astoria is an old city. There is lots to see and do there. There are a lot of restaurants with a variety of foods available. There are several restaurants with river views and outside seating available. One of the restaurants that we visited had large sliding windows that allow for the smells of the river to be enjoyed. There are several antique shops with a wide variety of items to view and/or purchase. Traffic is horrible as the streets are narrow and there is a lot of through traffic as well a lot of tourists.

Appeared newly renovated and was very clean. Was emailed access code for entry. emailed I'd be parking my car on site, received a response. self serve coffee available in well equipped kitchen. Lounge area and even a games area where I witnessed a couple playing a game.
Very comfortable communal areas.
Well located for access to downtown Astoria.

Staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was comfortable. Cookies at check in were a nice touch. The hotel is located at one end of the Riverwalk with an easy walk down to the Astoria bridge.
