Bishop is a gorgeous town surrounded by Bueaty all around. So much to see from all the surrounding lakes to the simple low level streams. Usually nice weather and a great stop over town on your way to Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Reno or Death Valley. Don't miss Convict Lake, Alabama Hills, June Lake Loop, the Mammoth scenic loop (in the summer) or Hot Creek geological site. So many adventures are waiting to happen here! The Bishop creek is really pretty and they also have a scenic loop that ensures beauty and a string chance of experiencing wildlife and lots of gorgeous sites. The Bristlecone forest is unique and pretty but a decent drive off the 395. The lake loops will take an hour or two depending on how often you stop but end up back on the 395 so it's a great idea if you need a lunch break, fishing break or just a little adventure.
There are many decent restaurants in Bishop, I happen to love the Chinese restaurant on the east side of the street, north side of town by the super market (sorry can't remember the name)
Also the holiday Inn here is great!
And of course stop at the famous bakery in town, worth the crowds!
